Takis Shelter, a new home for Rex

- Rex is 17 years old. His boss, who loved him very much could not take care of him anymore. It is not sure how Rex was injured but Takis took care of him and his wounds are healing well now. Today is the first day that Takis can use his new 4WD car that was sponsored by many friends of his Animal Shelter. Takis Shelter is located near Ierapetra on the Greek island Crete. Takis decided that with the new car, today, it is a great opportunity to take Rex with him to the Shelter where he can take care of him and Rex can have a new home.

I have to smile when I see how young Takis looks! 🤓 He has accomplished so much in the past few years.

Now Takis has his own TH-cam Channel "Takis Shelter". I just started watching in March 2020. What a change in his shelter 5 years later. So many more animals and now seems to have some volunteers. I hope to go there one day to volunteer as well. What an amazing man.

Its difficult to stomach the brutality of these animals....it opens up the reality its happening around the world!

And now look at Takis, all these years later. As of January 2022...Takis has over 500 dogs. He is truly...a man of God. Takis is the real deal. A man who is truly trying to help animals. A man who is not in it for money...but from his heart.

Takis is another Great Soul.
Rex just perked up when he arrived on this shelter. He was so sad at his former home, that he just seems half dead. Salute for animal rescuers and shelters. Such a job requires a strong heart, because there is no reward for this advocacy, lots of sadness and only moments of relief saving animals.

I want to start a foundation to help Takis, every time i see him i am just in awe of what an amazing soul he has taking on pretty much the entire country of Greece homeless dogs. I came across this 5 year old video this morning. Look at the before and after photos of Takis Shelter. He has built a paradise for his dogs, cats, goats, sheep. Hundreds of dogs coming in and many have been adopted, (more adoptions needed) he has regular volunteers, paid employees, trees, fruits, flowers, etc. Truly a man with a passion, a vision and the determination. He has fulfilled them for his untiring love for Crete's abandoned dogs and cats. They have love, food, water, house, friends...a place they can call home. TYT. He is a considered a hero, a saint...to many people around the world.

Yes, he needs support from all over the 🌎 .He needs more promotion,more newspapers should write about his story, and like minded people and organizations that are well connected should get involved and hook up with him. I know this video is 4 years old and glad to see the vehicle us sponsored by friends, but every time he comes back home his animals are overjoyed to see him, and now he has 400 dogs, animal lovers please adopt, unfortunately Crete and Greece don't have a good reputation when it comes to looking after them!!

What a difference now in 2020. Takis shelter is now such a beautiful shelter and better organized due to his hard work. Life at Crete for an8mals is still very bad, people still have problems opening their hearts for these precious souls
So happy that Takis gave Rex a great Golden Years after serving his master so well for so long!! (Wow 17 years). If I was a dog, living free and gettings such good food and love at St. Takis would be my idea of a dogs dream!!

Thank you, Marc Overeem, for making this video. Today, 4 years later, Takis still has the same red car and is now having a house built in the centre of the shelter - for himself and for volunteers. They have also fixed the road leading to the shelter. The shelter itself has grown and developed, and there's running drinking water in many places. There are 350 dogs and many cats now, living in separate areas in 30 groups, as well as at Takis' container house (the paralyzed ones) and at his old town flat with a volunteer. There's also a small herd of goats and sheep. My best wishes, Marc!
jagadamba54 good to hear that this huge project that Takis started is still goïng strong. At the time I was a little worried because it is really hard if you never can take a day off and always have to worry to make ends meet. I am very happy to see that so many people found Takis his TH-cam Channel on the internet and support his shelter. I plan to visit Crete in 2020 again to catch up.

Have you not realized how WONDERFUL THIS MAN IS YET. He's given up everything to take care of the poor babies who are badly treated by other people, who abandoned them or just don't give a sh** about any animal that is all alone and scared also hungry. I swear the dog got younger by many years once he arrived at the shelter and saw the other dogs, the wide areas to roam and explore, the possibilities that life was not over. You have worked a miracle!

I commend you Takis for actually doing what many only say they would. You are very strong seeing these animals come and go in a multitude of ways. It would break my heart but it needs to be done eg: the dog with its skin removed. Who could do such malicious acts and then came you. You give hope, love and your life. Kudos to you Takis.
