I saw her perform this live. Myself and everyone around me could NOT keep it together!!🤣🤣 Truly deserves to be recognised as one of the greatest Sondheim interpreters!
I had pleasure of seeing her perform this on Thursday at 'Old Friends' Stephen Sondheim at The Gielgud. Utter bliss! Its a theatre fan must ;o) The show was outstanding and Janie was superb!! Bravo ;o) x
Love this rendition! Heard the song for the first time when I saw her sing it in the Gielgud Theatre recently. Amazing performance! Especially with the "Wales" punchline. Couldn't stop laughing!
Tomorrow he sails He's moving to Wales To live in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllandysiliogogogoch Och! Janie Dee hit a home run and brought in 3 players on first, second and third. Stellar performance.
It’s possibly odd to say that she stays in tempo throughout yet her halting timing is unique and absolutely hilarious. If ever someone sold a lyric it was here. I think this is the best version of this I’ve seen. Or heard!
Hands down the funniest part of the show. My sister and I couldn't stop giggling for the entire song when we watched her live in London a few weeks ago lol
The backdrop saying “BRAZIL” is WRONG (I understand it’s a parody of Brazilian composer Antonio Jobim) BUT in the lyric it says “Spanish”. Brazilians speak PORTUGUESE not SPANISH. My minor quibble.

The facial expressions, the diction, that smile - the best version I've seen of this - and what a stylish English lady - thank you
Truly ❤
Saw Janie perform this last weekend in Old Friends - absolutely superb!
She's really extraordinary - a total delight. Best version of this song I've ever heard.
