- Tropical Storm Milton is expected to reach major hurricane status before making landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast next week, with NHC forecasters warning of potentially "life-threatening" impacts. Where is Milton headed and how strong could it get? Max Defender 8 Chief Meteorologist Jeff Berardelli and Eric Stone break down the latest forecast track and look at potential impact scenarios for the Tampa Bay area.
MILTON UPDATES: bit.ly/3XXgRGP
If you are in an evacuation zone... look up shelters now and evacuate when you are ordered to do so. Everyone else, get water, food, batteries and fill your gas tanks (both car and propane). Keep your phones charged and only use them when absolutely necessary before and during the storm. Make sure you know where the nearest shelter is if something happens. If you think you MIGHT need sandbags, get them don't hesitate. Clear all loose items outside, secure them where they are out of the wind. If you live in something like a trailer... DO NOT STAY IN IT... evacuate to shelter, that type of home is NOT secure. Do NOT go outside during the storm. Five people went 'walking' during Helene and ended up electrocuted because they were walking in water that had a downed power-line in it. (Putting water bottles in your freezer is a useful hack. As they de-thaw they become drinkable for the hot days that come after hurricanes because of the lack of electricity and because it's in bottles you don't have as much free standing water in your freezer/fridge when they melt.)
Thank u! Very useful tips!
The stores might be empty of batteries, go to the dollar general or dollar tree or dollar store. Get loads of them cause they may not last like ever ready batteries. Pick up non perishable foods. At these smaller stores. Don't be buying chicken, beef that you can't keep. And talk to your doctor and get extra load of medications, oxygen tanks just in case. Turn off all the gas or electric in your houses or apts if you have a turn off valve. And if some of you have electric cars go to high ground. If not, your car will catch on fire. Don't drive through 4 inches of water it will destroy your regular vehicle. The don't will save your lives and pick up bags of pet food and take them with you. Don't forget their papers. Look at N.C. and other places. Look at your own west coast. Don't take stupid chances. If you absolutely can't leave tell someone, help your neighbors. Have dollar bills, not credit cards only. Vending machines take dollar Bill's.
Wow, the storms have really intensified. Destruction left n right. The government (federal) can't help you. Local either. Turn around don't drown!!!!
❤thanks very very much for this fantastic coverage. Love from The Villages. Pete
Villages in the house!! 😊🌼
Oh the sex camp? 😂
We on the west coast of Florida are all betting against each other. 😂
This is unreal it’s like a bad dream for Tampa. They just had Helene and now this. This is worst case scenario. All we can do is pray for the best and prepare for the worst.
you can START by voting out the idiots on both sides who have been completely ignoring human effects on the climate since the 70's
@@Pat5843 They say it's a lie.
It can't be the same hurricane of Tampa Bay of 1921 is hitting us again
YOU SHOULD BE TRYING TO SCARE PEOPLE!!! THEY NEED TO START PREPARATIONS!!!!
Agree
Stop being scared.
As a Native Floridian who lives in Maine now, my heart and prayers are with you all. I know how these storms are and I would say also wait until you are told to evacuate. But if you have a way to evacuate when they say so, do so, your life is important. Possibly people carpool in a way to make sure others have a way out, that might not be able to do it any other way.
Already booked a room in Alabama
Just go to the east coast of Fl., you'll get a breeze.
Three flights of stairs have been tiresome over the years but recently I've become appreciative.
We are in Clw…we are bailing unless something drastic in all of our favors happens. Stay safe everyone and heed the warnings!!!
Same! Watching tomorrow and probably dipping out on Monday
Praying for you in Bradenton!
You should start leaving tomorrow any later you will be in crazy amounts of traffic
Oh shit😳😳😳
St Pete has so much debris on the sidewalks that needs to get picked up before this hits!!
It doesn’t matter what floor you are on. If you are by the beach, you are fucked.
Absolutely smart and intelligent helpful information. Thanks to y'all and your yeam. ❤Peter and 97 year old Italian mom listening
I'm feeling like I'm gonna throw up
Drink some water and lay down

Yeah I feel you, this is sickening news
I am sending out prayers to the elderly and disabled who are not able to evacuate. God bless each and everyone of you!
This is the 100 year big one into Tampa
Hang on to ur wigs and lashes 😂 jk
first 100 year storm this year. How many 100 year storms do we have to have?
Really hoping it's not
These storms just seem odd to me never seen back 2 back forming straight out of the gulf? Is it just me??
@@NicholasCampbell-c8ynot much natural weather anymore
Thank you for this coverage. Nice job. 😊👍🏼
My husband survived hurricane Andrew when he was a child. He lived in a concrete home and his home wasn’t damaged but it was very scary
*Prepare to be prepared again*
⚡🙏
Floridans, please do what you need to do to escape. We've seen what these weather patterns are capable of this hurricane season.
Truly appreciate y’all jumping on this quickly! The whole state is at stake- I’m terrified for my state, my neighbors, all the displaced pets. Not to mention the ones already suffering from that mean nasty Helene. How _dare_ her… I had a feeling we’d get slammed towards the back end. We had nothing for so long. Now we have too much!
Please stay safe!🫶
Por qué específico Tampa si el con es amplio
Florida its no money fema out please help each other no one is going to help 🙏🏾 🙏🏾🙏🏾 blessing
They never have helped us out
We were told,Biden gave the illegals the FEMA money.
My family lives in Fort Myers and they are considering evacuation, they live 18 miles inland. They haven’t ever evacuated.
18 miles is pretty far. Are they in an evacuation zone?
I’m in ft Myers, thinking about leaving
I live in Ft. Myers. 18 miles in would generally be a non flood zone (such as Lehigh Acres). I live 1 block off McGregor Blvd and the Caloosahatchee River and have never evacuated and never been flooded. I don't know where they'd evacuate to since most of Florida will get the effects, but they should do what they feel is best, but I think staying at home would be better then driving through a hurricane..unless they're in a mobile home. Then they need to Get Out!!
My husband lives near there (he works in fl) and I have been BEGGING him to evacuate. I’m so terrified and worried about his safety 😭.
Might be best to go south instead of north!
Everyone has time to prepare, don’t forget your pets.
Under play is bad. Any rain is bad right now
Keep praying 🙏❤️
Pinellas county here 😮 I knew this year might be the year the streak ended! Scary 💩 I still have a lot of damage from Helene 💔
Hang on! Have a lot of faith.
I'm sorry, but look at the bright side, at least you didn't fix everything up and then get hit again.
Pray!
God bless you
Thank you so much for providing a wealth of information without any sort of political or religious bias! It’s much appreciated! Please everyone, take this seriously and prepare. I know we used to joke about hurricane parties, but I think those days are gone. These storms are just too frequent and destructive to make light of the possible impacts.
I’m glad my son and grandson moved out of Florida. He was in Bradenton next to Sarasota.
Couple days ago meteorologists weren't even saying tropical storm. They were saying "maaaaaybe a tropical depression and a real rain maker". They were also saying how those two blobs out in the gulf were very unlikely to combine to make a tropical storm. Even the hurricane center dropped it to a 30% of development at one point. It's just nuts how this could change so quickly.
Welcome to NC 2.0
It is not going to go to NC
@@Kelly-pp1et
I think she means this could be as bad as Helena was for NC.
@aldofromsf they definitely meant that!! I really hope not we can't take it...
I'm trying to get out, but royally fubar. I can't believe this. Aripeka Florida since 2020.
I have a bad feeling about this... from Holiday. Going to hunker down. 🙏
I have a bad feeling too.
Yes, accurate forecast, will be a Cat 3 and right now it's heading for Tampa. Very sad, evacuate ASAP.
Praying 🙏
God bless you all 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Are we having fun yet?
People LEAVE
Okay I am going be as real about this as I can there are those with no money no vehicle and there are the homeless many people are stuck and then there's those that are homebound in aren't capable of movement aren't capable of getting themselves out of the situation . A lot of folks have no way out and it's not like we can depend on the Red Cross or FEMA or the national guard or anyone to help those who are stuck here I'm telling everybody if you have elderly or sick neighbors are you know of a homeless person or something and you have a vehicle and the ability to get them to a shelter please do so
Very well said zephyrhills FL here
I hope this doesn't affect Clearwater Beach and Tarpon Springs.
I'm scared, here in Clearwater. 😢 God bless us.
Karen, get out.
God Bless you.
🙌
LEAVE!
🙏 🙏 🙏
I am praying for you
Cat 3 to 4, expect it.
Strong 4
@@gfish9636 Indeed. Look how much time it has to strengthen from the gulf.
It’s not over folks 😢😢😢
Goodbye Florida, it only took like 300 years
Another one ?? 😮😢
Wake up
Oh mighty Yahuah!
You guys are really good.
My family has been here for 7 generations, before Florida was a state. I am stayin, but am evacuating the wife, kids and grandparents
People need to get away from shorelines!
This is why I prefer the desert 🏜️ over living near the sea. Vegas boy for life IDGAF 😅
It feels like all of Florida is eventually going to be under water.
It’s discomforting to think there are people alive and well this very moment who won’t be with us in a matter of 90-something hours.
Right. Thinning the herd if you ask me.
Damn. Tell your co worker to clean their desk area if you are going to keep filming with it in the background.
I am just sick hearing this.
Win, place, show!
Florida can't catch a break
Staying in Bellaire, Clearwater and Sunshine Skyway area. Pinellas County will update as possible. Florida strong! Evacuation A-C. I'm in E at two locations. Good luck everyone!
Be safe!
@@ClearlyclynnTy. U2 if you're here.
I live in Englewood in south Sarasota county, right on the Charlotte county line and I live 1 block from the water. Ian went directly over me and I stayed. Helene just hit and I stayed. This one worries me more than either of those. Can you tell me about the how we will fare? I know it's early.
Can I ask what's going to happen to the east coast if this storm hits
Too early to tell.
It’s impacting the entire state in some capacity. If it’s a 3-4 and going fast, that’s like a several hundred mile wide tornado 🌪️ ripping through the state.
Lord Have Mercy 🙏
How high is the water mamma 5 feet high and rising
Our daughter goes to FAU (she just started in August) we live in Maryland.. Should we be concerned? Any advice plz
Send her inland to a hotel
No, she’ll just get some rain and maybe some winds but nothing like central Florida will
Hard to tell at this point until they nail down exactly where the eye is going to land. It probably won't be an issue because she's on the other coast. If it makes you feel better bring her home. Better safe than sorry.
If it stays Tampa or North, assuming she is in the Main Boca Campus, Jupiter, or other campuses south, tropical storm gust and rain (not a biggie). If it shifts south through Ft Myers, then we are talking hurricane winds from 1 to low 2. The Campus when I was going there 30 yrs ago is solid, power and tree damage will be a problem.
I went through a tornado there, in the business building, a little shake and some chairs thrown around.
Just keep your eye on the track.
Yes, catagory 4, by Colorado NORAD.
Tampa has been pretty lucky for quite some time. I'm sure everyone else around is rooting against us lol
WE ARE SPARTA!!!
what about the HAFS A and B model along with the GFS model? A lot of them are have been veering north for a couple of hours missing tampa

Very scarry Pinellas here.
Praying for my family and friends that lives in Tampa. Head north and east to get out
Oh boy .. amped up huh
Which is safer? Wildwood or Clearwater?
Wildwood hands down
I wonder what the storm surge would be in Largo by St. PAULS Church?
If I lose everything, will I get the whole $750 people are getting from Helene?
They get the $750 for immediate use. Then they have to apply to get more No BS.
That's more than they ever got from Trump
What about Wesley Chapel?
Study what happened here in SE FL when Hurricane Wilma hit ... It hit us at Cat 3 - Everglades does NOT slow a hurricane down... 💜🙏 By the way, we were w/o power for THREE (3) weeks! Police from Seminole County came to camp/help out here in Broward County - they were really nice & helpful... And remember the lyrics to that song ..The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow ... (Imo it was a diff sun when that song was written🙄)
What’s the chance of it coming to the NC coast?
Too early to tell.
Thankyou for you all uodate. What about Sumter county
Sending prayers your way to all of you on the West Coast. East Coast of Florida has your back
I’m about 10 miles inland Citrus County, not evacuation zone. Think I’ll be ok here?
We're down in cape coral area and duuuude, we're a little weary.
It might be time to start scaring people so that they will believe the danger.
If I am 34' above S.L in Gulfport, what are my chances of surge reaching me?
Pray prepare
So interesting you used the word “seed”
I'm in Vero Beach, how bad will it be on the East coast.
Which place is safer? Clearwater or Wildwood?
Shout-out to my St Pete brothers n sisters. Its ankle grabbing time.
Will we be okay in Port Orange which is outside of Daytona inland..
Just watched another guy. Don’t down play it..ok? His analysis with all models are brutal reality.
Turn up the atmospheric heat and nexrad to steer it where you want.
Please show a 30-40 hour loop. This 10 hour swatch doesn't show the pass over Mexico. It's such an oddity for it to come from the west.
We need to hear about what happens where the weather initially starts. These poor people have major storms form over them and the storms then take off over the seas.
How will this affect orlando
Please Show the cities on the map in more detail .
Im in Seminole, 5 mins from Indian Shores Beach.
Will Wildwood be better than Clearwater?
What about Highlands county?
GO JET STREAM!!!
will be more Northerly..
