"Same old, same old." Yep, looks like the same old potholes in the sidewalk where you can trip and break an ankle. Haha. That's pretty cool that you have locals that recognize you. Be safe.
Hah yeah on return visits to AC, now spanning almost two decades, I always make it a point to say g'day to a couple of pieces of broken concrete on Fields Ave I stumbled over on my first trip in 2004. That's because they've never been touched in all that time. And I'm sure they'll still be in the same spot when I get back😇
They still repair in US too.. Go to "ANY" military community and U will see shops that repair both civilian and military shoes/boots. A lot of truckstops across the US have shoe repair shops.. The popularity of cowboy boots and other expensive footwear is why many people repair instead of replacing...
I spotted a Red Ford Mustang across the street from the remodel of the cebuano store. Don't see many of those there. Thanks for the walk about! Stay safe out there!
I visited in June 2018, and the place was booming. So full of life, party 24/7. It was rainy season. I remember what seemed like thousands of umbrellas bouncing along with the street, neon lights, and a caphony of sounds. This is just pathetic and it makes me angry. Thanks for the updates Brian. Keep them coming.
@@scotmandel6699 even if AC never returns to what it once was, I will go back to the Philippines. There are many places to go and enjoy the friendly people there.
Hey Brian Dave Australia here thanks for an excellent video again as we all said it’s horrible looking at these close businesses but interesting to see the renovations going on and by the way I noticed you did not mention as you walked past lollipop and club XS but they are opening this Thursday maybe you don’t know.. .. Maybe they are opening as a cafe eating place but that’s the word from the local forum hopefully on Thursday you can do a video walk by on those two places thanks Brian
Wow, that looks as bad as Pattaya, Thailand. I pray this gets better soon. So many wonderful people are being hurt physically and financially by this covid-19 virus. Stay strong and safe. Glory be.
Before Covid it was still a place where young virile Pinoys would go after meeting a bg who had finished work and either met Casanova down the Mitchell Ext in years gone by or more recently at the 7-11 located at the jeepney terminal.
I feel it’s going back to normal sooon! I can’t wait to visit and put my Christmas decorations in our new house! Urg but Philippine embassy here their pain in the butt lately.. I have my fingers cross and still hopeful we go to Philippines before this year ends.. Awesome update again Sir Brian! 😊. Hi ate lotlot 💗
Hi and Good Day Sir Brian, Great weather for a walkaround and thanks. After watching you checking around Fields Ave Walkaround and saw most hotels/restaurants are closed and got me thinking. I suspect this owners are moving around to the new area at or around New Clark City/Korean Town where more Hotels and Casinos are popping and expanding. I would think that's the new HOSTELS. Penny for thoughts.
Can you show where the old Clark main gate was some time please? Everything looks so different than in 1990 and it would be nice to have a frame of reference. Thanks!
Waiting for your update a few months from now. Bars open with customers, walking street full of people, street vendors selling their wares. Back to the good old days. I hope.
i would think a coffee shop would do well ,the kind like they used to have in the usa back in the 60s ,where they would have acoustic people play and open mikes sometimes n,no need girl shows ,just gives a stage for upcoming musical groups to practice in front of small crowds and serve coffee instean of booze -filipina people love to entertain
That corner where the shoe repairman is sitting (corner Teodoro st) brings back some memories. Back in 2001, I was standing near there (where the 7Eleven is now) talking on my cellphone. A guy grabbed it from my ear and ran around the corner to a backstreet there (Tinio Street). I chased him and was met with a gang. One guy pulled a gun on me. I told him to keep the cell phone and walked away LOL.
Thanks for the updates! You always give me something forward to see when I can travel even more. Now that I’ve moved up here from Cebu, I’m looking forward to visiting your part of Luzon... hopefully soon! Things are much more open here in Laguna. It’s refreshing. This is more like what I thought the Philippines would be like when I arrived here in February- right before the lockdown 😥
How i wish i was back home in the philippines right now ....u should do video of getting ready for the start of the school year for hannah grace online schooling explaining to folks what all it takes to set it up ...i found out my son will be doing 7 am to 6 pm monday thru friday of online schooling there in valenzuela ..
So I think I've seen most of your vids. From all the way back when you were in your home in Philly talking about making the decision to move to the phil. Somewhere along the road you mentioned that you would do a vlog about how you and Lot met. :) I guess I missed that one.
You're correct. The government cleared it out back around 2008 or 2009 when they first started talking about a high speed railway from Manila to Clark. Nothing happened with the railway and vendors moved in, then the park, then the carnival and now sitting empty again.
I do not think it will be as it has been before, no smiles and laughter just mouth guard and face visor it is good to live on hope, but I think it is over
The Owl's Nest is the only original bar left from the 80's when I was there and in the exact same location...doesn't mean it will return after COVID-19, but at least the same. There's a side street that runs to the right (heading toward Dau) of Fields for about two blocks (used to have the bars Yellow Submarine, Brass Knobs, Little Wheel, Temple of Rock, El Toro's, etc.) could you please do a walk down that street and video? Thanks.
are you allowed to go to nepo or marquee mall or dau or mabalacat, intrigued to see whats happening on that side of Angeles, thanks from Sydney Australia ;)
Recently, by that I mean in the last decade or so, there was an actual play park behind that fence, swings, slides and suchlike, it was actually a nice spot, well sorta, then bit by bit more and more homeless folk started hanging out there and sleeping rough at night, eventually the CDC closed it completely. Before they closed it there were many older ex bgs there freelancing, including my neighbor from 15 years ago, her foreign bf died and her "habit" took over....sad!

If they open island to island travel they will kill tens of thousands maybe even hundreds of thousands. Closing inter island travel has saved all those lives by stopping the virus from spreading to islands that have no hospitals that are equipped to treat people with the virus. On those islands thousands of Lolo's and Lola's would be dead within a few months and so would many younger people, Filipino's have a very high rate of diabetes and high blood pressure making them very susceptible to Covid complications and without the sort of interventions we have in the west the death rate there would higher. The government has done a wonderful job containing the infection in Manila and Cebu with relatively low numbers elsewhere allowing it to escape to the thousands of islands across the country now would be insane and criminal.
