    Wow! The sound of that good ol '68 Corvette with the heavily modified 350 Cubic Inch (5.7 Litre) 2-Barrel Carburetor V8 with those racing-installed exhausts really blew me away with how loud, tough, serious, mature, and American it is (Especially with the L88 427 and the LS6 454)! Not only that, it is in my opinion one of, if not the, best ever looking Corvette during their time.
    You go, Chevrolet! 😎👍💪

      However, the only thing that bothers me is the color scheme and the stickers on the windshield. Still though, GREAT Corvette!

    Beautiful car Lou. My Uncle had a good buddy back in the 1980s that had a 69 Corvette with 427 and 4 speed. My Uncle always said that he had never rode in another car that scared him as much as that Corvette did.

    The convertible with the hardtop in place of the soft top, that's the way most racers ordered these cars. Cheaper than the coupe also lighter and stiffer and more aerodynamic.

    This race-sprung 1968 Chevrolet Corvette has a stunning look! The sound produced by its 450 HP V8 engine is monstrous, on par with its acceleration! That last shot, speeding by, blew me away! In the end, the owner's big smile said it all... Best regards, Lou!

    Lou, I love the old school Corvette! Living in Florida, my favorite racing was the 12 hrs of Sebring. We used to camp for the weekend. Always fun watching the Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, Cobras mixing it up in the midst of all the Ferraris, Porsches, GT 40s, Chapparells, etc. I once had the safety cone that Mario Andretti drove over that damaged his cooling system and put him out of the race one year. Thanks so much for what you do bringing back fond memories!❤👍

    Just to be clear Zack did not get this car the way you see it in this video. Zack took a warnout race car and breathed new life into it, rebuilt all the drivetrain, rebuilt all the suspension, added the wheels exhaust, and FIA headlights and painted the top front flat black (originally it was only the hood that was black) and a host of other improvements (gauges msd distributor/6al box, racing seat) buffed all the paint and decals and restored the shine. He put 2 years' worth of hard work into the car that you're watching in this video. Wasn't that he just bought a done car he made that car.

    The engine looks like a 327 to me with the extended oil filler tube . The 350 engine came out in '69 not '68 and the car looks a '69 I can tell by the door handles ! The '68's had a push button type door handles !

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi steve s, Hmmm, yes we learned about the 1968 door handles in 1968 Corvette with the 427....interesting. Lou

    • @markklopack8315
      @markklopack8315 ปีที่แล้ว

      One its a 350 the original engine was a 327 motor was replace in 1973 when it became a race car with a built 350 and two its a 68 take a good look at the door button at 2:41 on the video shows in plane site its a 68 and at 4.33 on the video lou opens the drivers door by pushing the button. we should know we spend two year restoring it and we own it.

    • @goneshootin61
      @goneshootin61 ปีที่แล้ว

      O k if it's a 350 then why does it have the long oil filler tube ? @@markklopack8315

    • @markklopack8315
      @markklopack8315 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @goneshootin61 there are many reasons why it has a oil fill tube, for starters Craig Nelson who originally turned this vette into a race car back in 1973 I can only speculate that once he blew up the 327 and went with a 350 he decided to use the same intake manifold. That manifold will fit a 283, 327, 350, 400 small block. Since there was nothing wrong with the carb and manifold, why spend more money if you don't have to. That manifold and carb are a nice combination. Also, it fits under the hood , and corvettes do not have a lot of hood clearance. Maybe like all racers he was looking for that unfair advantage he fooled you thinking it was a 327 and not a 350 all racer from smokey yunick to Roger penske they all cheat unfair advantage read the book so for what ever reason Craig Nelson decided to use this manifold you would have to ask him it was on the car when we got it and with the proper tuning it runs great, so if it ain't broke why fix it. Hope this answers your question. I can assure you it's a 350 Chevy under the hood

    • @thud9797
      @thud9797 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 350 came out in 67 and that first year was exclusive to the Camaro SS. For 68 the Nova SS was added to the 350 list and finally for 69 it made it to Corvette and the rest of the Chevrolet lineup.
