- Should we use the suzuki lt80 as our beater two stroke quad? Or should we restore it and buy an exhaust, new plastics, and do upgrades/modifications to it?

albert oriol Yeah, get the quadsport decals while you're at it, then sleeper build it, CT Racing used to have a full kit for these with suspension and motor mods, there are a lot you can do with them, and they lasted about as long as the blaster on the market with zero changes besides the plastic and decals

Not sure what year they started putting the restrictions on, but there's a washer right inside the head pipe off the head, and a slide stopper in the carb. I took those out and it was a blast, my son still has it but rarely rides it (rides his RM65 instead). Thinkin about piping it, and modding the clutch for my daughter. Seeing a 5yr old whippin donuts and drifting is a sight to see though. My son is awesome.
The pre setting on the lt80’s petcock is probably used for using pre mixed gas instead of using the oil pump system

on the lt80 its a like vaccum fuel tap, on pri the fuel just pour and on ON mode only when its running or starting it

just watch out, some old Suzuki's had a oil injection system that injects oil directly into the main bearings and onto the piston shirt, mixed gas wont get too the bearings then.
it doesn't matter if it is air cool you can still make it a big bore and it won't make a very big heat difference

You need to make it really nice, then extend the front wheels and make it like a chopper. that would look sick.

The "pri" setting on the petcock stands for prime
If you still have it, to fix the oil pump it’s very simple, it’s a simple mechanism, it’s a gear that is driven by the tourque converter and usually gets clogged up with dirt and old oil from sitting and the line could get clogged, so take it off and clean it out change the line make sure the gear it good and put back together and deal with oil resistant rtv

The pri setting is the primer you have to turn it on when you want to start it.
I used to have one of those it80s when i was a little kid it wasnt a bad quad
And I love yalls videos they always make my frown turn upside down on the worse days

I think it would be sick to keep it nice it's a old not really seen quad put upgrades and you will be able to sell it for more than ya paid (which was free)

if the electric start works, there should be a button by the lever on the back break, list that button in and try the electric start and should work

You need a big bore new tires and some haggler tshirts on you website available for purchase
Pre means primer. when the motor is on it creates a vacume that opens what the call a petcock value thst allows fuel in the motor so when the motor is on fuel gose in when its off it shuts the fuel off automatically primer bypasses it so fuel allways goes into tye motor its really for when you take the carbs off when you put them back it set it to pre so it fills the bowl
I'm pretty sure there's a belt in the case of you replace it it'll probably make it a bit faster
You should do both, trash it but not wreck it, just beat it a little. then, do a bunch of upgrades and fix everything, mod it and make it awesome

Quad Ricers, pri means primary, so the fuel needs to be on primary
On almost all Suzuki forewheelers they have primary
Pri actually stands for prime. It’s there to fill the float bowl on the carb after maintenance. Those petcocks have a vacuum line that stops fuel flow when the engine isn’t running. The prime position bypasses the vacuum system
Straight pipe it, then upgrade whatever. This quad deserves to be nice, now the 300ex is clapped, so it's a beater.

Ride it once in a while but for the most part keep it nice
With a lot of upgrades
pri stands prime it's probably a vacuum powered petcock so when the engines not running it dosnt pull a vacuum so no gas goes through it but turn it to pri to fill the bowl then start it and turn it to run or on
jake lamberson put when they go to start it it will pull a vacuum and it is a gravity fed carb so even with no vacuum the bowl should fill with the float, assuming he doesn't drain the carb after he rides it of course
felblade121 that is true I didn't even think about that, I just always have to use it on my Suzuki gs750 but that's probably cause I kick start it and it take to long to pull gas with out using it, and I usually acually do run the fuel out of my carbs when I'm done riding for the day or its gonna set for awhile
