I like that the missions are often short in regards to the main objective, but can be bolstered in length if you have more time and want more exp. I know most quests do, but it seems a more meaningful decision here. Loot at first glance to be fine too, especially the heroic. And the Feytwisted is again, an option the SSG gave us which is great and eases up the equip tetris. All in all, even tho i am not into the theme of the expansion, i do like the structure they went after.
I had very high expectations coming into this, and I'm not disappointed. Quests are GREAT both lore and story-wise and a few also have cool mechanics. The long ones don't feel tedious, rather grand. I suppose a lot comes down to whether you like the setting. It's grown a lot on me after Critical Role and MTG's Throne of Eldraine, Fairy Tales are far from being childish. I also like what they did with the item sets although 7 slots to get the best bonus are a lot clearly. Lv 5 versions are awesome regardless.
I've enjoyed the expansion content & like the multiple methods of solving objectives in them... some can take a little to figure out on the first run through but they're quick enough. I like the various fairytale & story references like Don Quixote & while people might find the whole "3 objectives" thing tiresome it does mean groups can get fast completions but rule of 3 is a big thing in pretty much any folklore related to fey so it fits the setting.
Very nice review. I came to the conclusion that I will not buy it now. Most likely I will get it with points, but still it's hard to resist for me because of the new Universal Enchantment tree. I might missed in the video, but the idea of one raid in the expansion wasn't talked on. Keep in mind that this expansion was supposed to be with cap increase and we know from the past that cap increase and expansion with one raid or no raid doesn't go well in DDO.
Yeah, the one raid instead of 2 is a bummer and the biggest thing feywild has going against it. I did talk about that in the video. And I was really surprised this week to hear the raid was so far off. That's really not good. I don't blame people for waiting a bit on this. There probably will be more people doing that than with sharn, especially with the direction they took with loot.
I have been playing through the epic quests slowly and am very happy with the pack all round. Visually it's amazing, even the dungeon dressing in quests is so colourful and thematically correct. Some of the new creature mechanics are interesting, and at no point did I feel like the content wasn't worth having. On a side note my girlfriend prefers running these quests with me much more than Sharn or Ravenloft. Looking forward to the raid release.
The quests are a lot of fun, I liked the mechanics they used in some of them... The Feydark Illusionist tree is pretty good and versatile, and also fun! The Shifter looks interesting but I haven't tried it yet... Not having a new raid is a big disappointment, I hope this issue doesn't put off people, because all in all I think the expansion is a good addition to the game!
Thanks for the review, I’m catching up on the new expansions. So these quests involve running around and finding things, and very little combat. I can’t stand those quests. Invariably it involves searching the entire dungeon for 30 minutes to find the clickie I missed
Na, just a few of them but mainly just frosty reception. There is lots of combat in most of the quests. And even frosty reception has a decent amount of combat.
was kinda hoping that 10 years later eberron would still be the target. Secretly hoping that there was the steampunk train coming out in the future. lol probably just me
Ug the loot is lame, as someone else posted here it relaxes the loot tetris...but nothing creative...and frankly the tighter loot tetris put more tension, anticipation and excitement i to getting that exact piece of gear

The way the Feywild loot set bonus system makes it better to fill in the gaps of the current item sets.

I am not a developer, but the attacking windmill quest may be refferring to Don Quixote. At last we fight the windmill, our ultimate enemy. Funny. :D
