Let me begin by saying I love this pattern and my recently new great granddaughter is only 4 lbs. 10 oz., so I was thrilled to find your video for a preemie… I just have a few suggestions if you don’t mind ……After doing the first round of front and back posts, half double crochet‘s…..after you chain one where is the first stitch? Is it right under the chain one or is it the next stitch???? Wish you would go slower and show where that “ first” stitch is bc is it so helpful to newbies…..If you don’t put it in the right space , your stitch count will be off……It would also be helpful if you give the stitch count at the end of each row…..This also helps for new crocheters……I even check myself and I’ll count and make sure I have the 43….I also put a stitch marker in the “first” stitch so I know where I will join when I get to the end of the row…… it is such a pleasure to watch designers who do these things because these are the things that I struggled with when I first started to crochet and believe me, I still have problems I’m not an expert…. Again, thank you for a wonderful pattern…. and I will check that decrease that another person made in one of the comments……….
Thanks for this pattern, I'm making it now, but wanted to make you aware that your half-double decrease is not correct. The way you do this in the video is actually a double-crochet decrease. Just thought I'd point that out because this really confused me at first and maybe someone else who is making this pattern will need to be made aware of this. I don't, but you could chain a few lest on the beginning round and adjust your rows from there to make it smaller.

I'm using a #3 yarn, not sure how to adjust the number of chains etc.
I would just add maybe 4 more stitches in your initial ch, that should help.
I have a dog so I want to make a crochet diaper because anytime I buy diapers it doesn't fit her
