Shoe Trees VS. No Shoe Trees Side By Side After 4 months.

  • Showing the effects of using shoe trees vs. not using them and how it affects the aging of the shoe. I'm pretty convinced that using a shoe tree will extend the life of your shoes and keep the leather from creasing and cracking with age. I haven't invested in wooden shoe trees because my shoes are fairly inexpensive, but without a doubt, even the plastic shoe trees will keep them looking neat and new longer.

      Yes it's a good alternative if you can't afford shoe trees for every pair. Obviously shoe trees are better though.

    When investing in a good pair of leather shoes, always purchase a pair of cedar shoe trees. Cedar shoe trees not only prevent cracks, help the shoe hold it's shape, they absorb moisture from your foot and provide a more pleasant smell. :)

    All of my shoes and boots have cedar shoe trees in them. Install shoe trees shortly after wearing your shoes, and leave them in place whenever they’re not worn. This will allow the shoe trees to absorb moisture and continue to hold the shoe’s shape. Cedar is the most common type of wood because it does a better job of removing moisture than other wood species, and it has a pleasant smell. Plastic is sometimes used for shoe trees because it’s less expensive.

    Great video but I have a question: Do you have suggestions on how to "repair" men's dress shoes that have bad creases (because I neglected to use trees)? You mentioned sweat (combined of course with the natural bending motion from walking) makes that crease stay. Could I put the trees in and maybe wet them with some sort of solution that won't damage the leather? I figure there must be some sort of magic Harry Potter-esque solution - maybe warm salt water? boiled frog's tongue? Eye of Newt, magician's dust ...

    • @JohnMooreVlogs
      @JohnMooreVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Heat from a hair dryer can allow you to form the leather and make the wrinkles less pronounced. I would stay away from salt water as that may break down the leather. Remember, a shoe tree will help a shoe keep it's shape and reduce wrinkling, but all shoes will wrinkle as they form to your foot. If a shoe is wrinkling very badly, it's a sign of a poor fit.

  • @MatthewHartsuch
    @MatthewHartsuch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Ya, I have some of the plastic ones but the shape is wrong for dress shoes so they cause extra creasing around the vamp close to the welt and I find that shoe polish really gets caked up there, I would recommend spending the extra money on cedar shoe trees for any shoes worth more than $25. I really like the plastic shoe trees for casual and athletic shoes.

    Shoes trees are meant to keep the shape of the shoe however if the shoe tree doesn’t have wicking properties or dry the shoe it doesn’t work as well.. the point of the shoe tree is to dry the shoe and as it drys keep the shoe in shape…

    wooden.shoe trees with full heel are best ,absorb moisture and keep.shoes mint , otherwise metal or plastic spring , I have lot of shoes and I keep running out of trees , so sometimes I used bubble plastic wrap to fill the tie area and I've cream stick as stretcher to the back , just put a piece of paper or bubble wrap inside heel area before using I've cream stick

    Cedar boot trees can cost as much as some $80 shoes. LOL. But they are worth it when you have $400+ Shoes and boots. \
    Cedar Absorbs Moisture and that helps keeping the inside dry and clean smelling.
