Great comparison, very interesting. As you mentioned, Viberg use UK sizing, that’s also the case in their widths. Viberg’s E width is the same as a US D.
Great to see the comparison of what has remained the same and what has changed Dale! Very in-depth and I will be curious how the new boots will fit overall compared to the old boots? Time will tell of course and at least CXL tends to be a gentle break in. For as large of a collection as you do have you most certainly put those old 2030's through their paces! May they find a great home with their new owner!
Also, not sure if you mentioned it, but the vamp placement on the new vibergs are pulled back significantly compared to the older bergs, so it lends to another different look alongside the rounded toe of the new vibergs. Not a fan
Great video Dale. I always hear about Viberg changes over the years and see differences between the 2022 310 I bought and a late 2023 pair. It’s interesting to see how much changed with the 2030. That old box was dope.
1/2 size in Viberg is huge. I had to order and return a pair before i got it right. I'm 8D in Iron Ranger. A 7E in Viberg. Brooklyn Clothing has an exclusive on this captoe single stitching. They are the only ones you can get it from. Some other dealers have the BCT. I bought a pair of the brown CXL from BC after watching this video. Dale keeps spending my $.
Bouth are so beautiful. I really appreciate Viberg design through the years both old and new one. I do own 2020 Bastions and i hope to get 2040 at some point
Great video, Dale. Might be wrong, but I believe holdfast construction/channeled insoles are exclusive to welted footwear and would not be used on a stitchdown product.
Hi Dale have you seen the new Viberg boots ready for pre-order? They are a Hatch grain dark cognac shell cordovan in both the 2030 and 2040 last? If you have what do you think?
Awesome video dale! I am in the same boat with my himel collaboration Canadian officer boots where I am a double E width and that it goes with military sizing at the time but the last is only offered in a single E.
Wow, I have the same 2014s, purchased in April that year before getting the Brandy shells that fall. Similar wear as well. Aesthetically the new boots move too far away from the original mission - if I were in the market for another like I'd probably do Parkhurst as being more inline with the original bergs. The whole point is that super almond, pancaked toe, lower shaft height, sleek/low profile... that's the shit that put them on the map and had people shelling out $700 long before it was even reasonably rational. FWIW I sized down a full size and break-in was MURDER, like 100 wears before they felt decent. Caused me to go up a half size for the brandys, but ultimately they felt great after molding to my feet.
I got a pair of viberg boots a couple of months ago in black chromexcel - and they didn't even come with a box! I called them and they said they were out of boxes, but they'd ship me one when they got them in stock. I haven't seen it yet.
how can any manufacturer change the parameters of a spec to something different without changing the name/SKU?! Should they need to evolve to keep up with the current demand, they should call it 2031 last? Tell me if I am being pentadic?
My first pair on the 2030 in brown CXL fit great a 1/2 size down in a plain toe. Few years later, ordered a 2030 green cap toe thinking it would fit the same. Slightly too long. Could have gone down a whole size. A lot of toe room.
I've always wanted a Viberg Svc boot. However, I wanted to go to Canada or a retailer to get sized. Hearing that the collapsed toe is no longer makes me avoid it. That was the draw for me.
My new vibergs fit nearly a half size larger than my old, pre-2018 vibergs (both 2030 and 1035) with the original almond toe. pre-2018 fit snug, and the look is killer. I despise that Viberg went with new lasts that look so basic.
Hi Man. I am starting my boot journey. I want to get a boot that will last me a very2x long time with patina. I have my eye on a Redwing IR but the vibergs looks too cool. Any thoughts? So i just yolo on the vibergs?
@@thesheepthemightythecrazy i wouldn’t say that exactly. Amazing quality with the best materials but glued by somebody who doesn’t care at all. I had never seen such nice stitching, cxl, and materials in one boot and I have other great boots. Whites, GS, RMs, Parkhurst, Alden. The boot just comes loose between the midsole and insole and renders an extremely high end product unwearable. Its remarkable how stupid this is
I’m having the same issue with my Vibergs. Both are squeaking very badly. It’s coming from within the sole layers around the ball of my foot. It’s driving me crazy.
@@darrenhall7454 I used alot venetian on the insoles and now the right one doesnt squeak on one pair so maybe that could help you. Viberg told me to just wear them more but if it continues they will replace them
I think the fact that the old boots are shorter is just due to the creased leather so they aren’t perfectly straight up 6:23
That could very well be the case time will tell
Hey Dale! You mentioned E width feels like D. E width UK sizing is D width in US sizing.
Great comparison, very interesting. As you mentioned, Viberg use UK sizing, that’s also the case in their widths. Viberg’s E width is the same as a US D.
Ok this now makes complete sense
They feel like a U.S. E to me. E in the Uk is even more narrow than a U.S. D.
That old boot is the keeper. IMHO.
Viberg 2030 Service Boot. Brown Chromexcel. Iconic, classy and absolutely ready for anything.

Oh this is the same thing I noticed with the 310. It seems to be getting narrower.

Awesome boots! I really miss my 2030 service boots!! I will consider getting them again! Thanks Dale
I know where they are 😂😂😂
Ohhhh awesome video. 🤩🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏can’t wait to watch this!!!!

I think you made a great choice. New one looks more refined to me.
Well done and agree. The last for some reason keeps changing on me…
Hi Dale have you seen the new Viberg boots ready for pre-order? They are a Hatch grain dark cognac shell cordovan in both the 2030 and 2040 last? If you have what do you think?
Do you know if Viberg uses a cork filler ?

I never thought I needed a Viberg 2030 service boot in brown Chromexcel but after seeing this video...

So true some guys go down a half, some a full size, I was happy with both sizes but now I’m in my “technically” correct fit 😂

That’s simply insane! 😂 sounds like they owe you some free Venetian to boot
Great to see differences. I newer liked VB logo though. I know it is super subjective
When you say correct heal to ball ratio, is it bad to wear a half size too big? I’m between ordering a half size to full size down myself.
how can any manufacturer change the parameters of a spec to something different without changing the name/SKU?! Should they need to evolve to keep up with the current demand, they should call it 2031 last? Tell me if I am being pentadic?
It’s still their patented service boot so I guess they make the rules lol!
Do you know when they made the switch? Mine from 2019 seem to be in between your old one and new ones
I have no idea as I haven’t tracked it closely but they seem to be doing things gradually
At what year (2014 ->2024) did Viberg changed the 2030 last?
I am not sure, I think it was a gradual progression

Thanks for sharing! My 8’s are a little narrow but still seem a little long haha but I know they’ll break in and be fine
I dread the day I am drunk and they have those plain captoe in stock in my size. The lack of plain toecap has been my excuse not to buy Viberg.
Awesome boots!
Extremely informative video , thank you!👌👍🤝
I've always wanted a Viberg Svc boot. However, I wanted to go to Canada or a retailer to get sized. Hearing that the collapsed toe is no longer makes me avoid it. That was the draw for me.
I have a recent pair and it is still an unstructured toe on some service boot models.

Viberg is 100% worth it once you understand your size and can nail it from the outset I don’t think you’d be disappointed
A lot of the British sized footwear has the normal width size as E but that in America would be D.
I was really wanting an unstructured toe. Damn, late again!
Theyre occasionally doing them - Rivet & Hide boondocker, Brown Waxed Flesh, etc
Old is so much better
Dope!👍🏾
I got two pairs and both of them sqeaked within 25 miles.
So shit quality for such high prices.

Old Viberg = GOOD. New Viberg = meh....and overpriced for less quality.
I definitely regret selling my old vibergs.
860 USD for CXL boots! Absolute insanity. SPI be damned. GS, Parkhurst and tons of Indonesian makers can get me this quality at 350-400 USD.
I just wasted 5 mins of my lifespan watching videos comparing Viberg box "new" and "old".
It’s a comparison video
Why are you watching a comparison video.. if you did not want the details?
