Nice work,,, There's a video of a veteran employee of an English scissors maker. They fit the parts by hand - each is individual, and they tweak one blade with a mallet to bend it just so, that when cutting paper it cleanly slices as you close your hand.
mine have some very hardly noticeable drops of some liquid on them , any idea if Oxalic acid can be used to whipeing these tools before restoration? i have some left over, from a bathtub a cleaned before restoration
Soaking the steel in an acid like vinegar etches the surface, which leaves a matte finish. The laundry detergent stops the etching process but doesn’t reverse its effect.
I'm about to restore some vintage scissors, some great ideas 👍
Hey, glad you found it useful. Have fun with your project!
This was so satisfying to watch!
Nice restoration. Is there a rule of thumb for how much to tighten the pivot screw?
Thanks for watching! I like to tighten it until there is no play and there is a little bit of resistance when closing the scissors.
@@imadethischannel Sounds reasonable. I have some I am restoring and was wondering how t approach it. Thanks for your reply and comments.
@@ihrescue Of course!
Well I thing I watched all of your videos. Friend make a few more. Great job on the scissors restoration.
Wonderful job. Just like new.❤
Thanks!
As an admitted asmr junkie, this was very satisfying!

My mother used to chew me out for using her fabric scissors to cut paper. I like your restoration job.
Oh no, did I cut paper in the video? Please don’t tell your mother!
I'm 40 yrs old and still get smacked on the back of the hand if I grab my mom's sewing scissors for any reason at all...
It's amazing restoration! But I would like to see a video about your restoration machine
Thanks! What machine do you mean? This one? th-cam.com/video/cXDov3g8RoA/w-d-xo.html
Great restoration! I like the joke.
Thanks for sharing. Did you use matte / satin black paint?
Thanks for watching! Yes, I used matte paint.
awesome

Hey, I don’t know :) Maybe try it with a scrap piece of steel first to see how it goes.
i did notice, that after soaking in rust removes, it gives a dull grey to steel, does the laundry detergent stop that also?

@@imadethischannel thanks, so the part that has been "eaten away" by the vinegar has to be grind down.
Yes, exactly.
