Master Izhar of Thana, Malakand is a disciple of Ustad Nawab Khan saheb son of Ustad Lal Khan of Dera Ismail Khan (originally from Jaipur). Izhar is inspired by Patiala & Gwalior Gharana styles. Presently he teaches Rabab to students in his area.

Listening to this majestic instrument RABAB first time , This Rabab used by Bhai Mardana ji on along journeys with my beloved father sahib sri Guru Naanak maharaj, this very instrument the ilahi Gurbani much more heavenly. Waheguru ji. Dhan Guru Naanak.

Thank you for posting this fascinating piece. The setting was spectacular, the light and the photography almost magical. The jai jaiwanti was a light and lyrical interpretation , full of life. The climate did it's best to affect the skin fronted instrument, but the musician overcame this, and presented a comprehensive survey of what the instrument can deliver, in sensitive hands. A lovely piece of work .

Glad to know that classical (Indian? ) music is alive in its purest form even in remote areas of KPK Pakistan. The tonal quality of this instrument should improve. Tabla sound seems to be practically absent. Nice and pleasing performance. Wish you all the best.

What this channel offers is something that none other offers, music from a mixture of performing artists from all corners. Only criticism is you guys use the terms "maestro"/"master"/ustad very loosely. Please don't. They mean something in subcontinental classical music.

A unexpected scenario of listening to untuned Rubab and I see a person trying to explain the fundamentals of the respective RAGA and you guys delete his comment i.e : (Really dissapointed to expect from such a person who calls himself a 'MASTER' of Rubab and is inspired from such a huge names i-e Patiala and Gwaliar Gharanas.Throughout the whole perfomence Rubab was untuned.Both the main as well as sympathetic strings were untuned.
Raga Jaijaiwanti PAKAD notes are " R-g-R-S,'N-S-'D-'n-R " and I am really amused to witness such a huge blunder.) PLEASE GUYS IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO CORRECT YOU DOESN'T MEANS HE IS OPPOSING YOU BUT TO LIGHTEN THE WORLD WITH KNOWLEDGE. p.s if you think you are right please do respond.
I am playing rabab for many years now and listened to many untuned rababs but I can't believe how this rabab is untuned to you. Such a pathetic comment
Sounded like there's an extra string for mandra saptak if I'm not mistaken, in any case it's tuned very low and the pitch becomes inaccurate, and is very close to the drone or sympathetic strings, so they get strummed as well. I had the same feeling as you and was bothered as well, lots of noise. But hey, when one calls oneself a master..!
Yes it's a four string rubab so that's why first string is tuned very low. It's normal in the world of Rubab

It was a challenge posed by a live outdoor performance recording. The musician himself was a bit disappointed with how the instrument went a little out of tune due to the changing temperature as the sun moved during his performance. We were a little more forgiving under the circumstances.
