Musha are the crucible serve as a device for giving heat to the rasadravya to convert it into bhasma, or to extract sattva.
There are different kinds of musha are there of different capacity of tolerance of heat and durability and for the various dravyas.
Those are...
samanya musha
Pakwa musha
Gostani musha
Vruntaka musha
Malla musha
Vid musha
Gola musha
Vajra musha
Vajra dravani musha
Maha musha
Vara musha
Varna musha
Yoga musha
Gaara musha
Musala musha etc...
Usually to form a musha we need
Graahya mruttika that is essential mud
Dagda tusha, shana, shikhitraka,haya laddi,jala, loha danda
Procedure :::
Take a required ingredients in required quantity.
Add jala to it.
Pound by the loha danda.
Convert into clay consistency.
Give the proper shape.
Dry under sunrays.
Burn in agni.
Uses: for marana of rasadravya, for satvapatana, for dravana of a dravya, to do a shodhana of a dravya.
Like this musha serves as a very important instruments in a rasa-shastra pharmaceutics.
