I've been looking forward to this shoe as well. Really look forward to getting to run in them more. Injuries are part of the game. However, I have been very fortunate. This is my first repetitive stress type of injury in over a decade
Thank you for your review. I did give Topo shoes a try after watching your reviews on them . They did not work for me . Too much arch support. Stiff heel counter and sole . The Phantom 2 gave me sore ankles ( lateral malleolus ,calcaneus area and a black pinky toe nail on my right foot after a 16km run. Never had any such issues with Altra . I have been running in Escalante Racer for more than two years , so no issues with weak ankles or calves . Back to Altra . Escalante 4 for runs up to 40km and Racer 2 for runs up to 16km. Great review! Thanks for this. I got really interested in Topo after I switched to Altras a few months ago and wanted something additional with some amount of drop to it. I have a pair of Hoka Mach 6's inbound, it was an open box deal too good to pass up, but I still have my eye on a pair of Specter or Cyclone 2's for that toe box room.
Thank you for watching! I also find the Hoka Mach 6 interesting! It is a very good looking shoe. It has an identical 37/32 stack height to the Specter 2. The both should be pretty responsive. Mach 6 has super critical EVA and Specter 2 has Pebax. The Topos have a wider toebox. My guess would be there will be a lot of overlap in the Mach 6 and Specter 2 use cases. The Cyclone 2 might give you a bit lighter option for workouts and shorter races.
Hey question, did Tobo change their layout like how much arts and everything things have I used to have the model two of the mountain racer and that REI today and I tried on it from a return. I tried on the new one the month and racer three and it seemed to have a real high arch and a real, severe spray going up. I don’t know if that’s just the way that model is cause I’ve been thinking about picking up the pursuit too, but not if that’s how it is but just
Topo shoes have a higher arch than a lot of shoes. The MTN Racer is a little narrower in the midfoot than some of their other models. I am not aware of major changes to their designs. However, I just started running in them about 1 1/2 years ago
