Golem and terry’s friend dates a robot were great episodes along with the winning edge. They showed how kids can be manipulated by the adults around who are supposed to be protecting them and guiding them
The robot girlfriend episode even gave us a neat little piece of worldbuilding. I do like that there is this subtle focus on child delinquency in a crazy setting like Gotham, you have that straight A student/Joker gang leader, there's Terry's old friend turn supervillain, there is the kid trying to kill random people so that his father will have time to play with him and then there is the episode with child therapy center that turned out to be a cult like controlling reeducation camp.

Bro there’s something therapeutic about your videos. The way you talk about literally everything I can tell you’re very passionate about this. Wishing you well man.
I find it very interesting watching these shows and actively enjoying them not out of nostalgia but out of how well they were made. I wasnt able to watch these shows when I was a kid being too young for them and then watching the brave and the bold or the batman, however I started watching these older shows when I was 16 or 17. The fact that these cartoons came out 20 years ago and are still discussed to this day, it really does show how good 90s and 2000s tv shows really were.
This show was such a great amalgamation of the things I love about Batman and Spider-man; I rlly hope they bring it back, I want to see Terry in college!!! Another great vid btw, thanks!
It should be noted that Howard is modeled after writer Paul Dini. They do this a lot in the DCAU. The Mad Bomber in the Grey Ghost episode was modeled after Bruce Timm. There's also a great high school episode with Max and Spellbinder where they do a really good job of depicting addiction. Through about the 80's to the 2000's, the government had programs that paid ad subsidies or gave tax deductions to studios/networks that made movies or TV episodes with anti-drug, anti-bullying, anti-abuse, etc. messages. If you ever watched a "very special episode" from that time, it was probably funded partly by those government programs. Batman Beyond episodes like Golem and The Winning Edge were probably made to take advantage of those subsidies.
I think a video about villain Big Time from Batman Beyond could be a good topic for a video, with the theme of the video being about how we are molded by the people we choose to let into our lives. A lot of Terry's "Hoodlum With A Heart Of Gold" comes from the fact that he hung out with a genuinely terrible person and got sucked into a terrible lifestyle, and Terry starts getting better because "Big Time" was removed from his life and he allowed more positive influences in.
Really appreciate you as a channel that doesnt just recap episodes But actually talks about messages, ideas and meaningful connections between episoded
It's kind of funny how the shoe's high school plots would vary in both tone and quality. A lot of them touched on gangs, drugs, and the reasons kids would get involved in them; without feeling like an after-school special. And then you get stock episodes like the fake baby assignment, which weren't as good, but did help balance the overall tone.
Never realized the Vreedle brothers from Ben Ten were actually from Batman Beyond I also greatly appreciate Terry inadvertently getting stuck with a deadbeat baby momma💀 somehow fits his character perfectly
To be honest, a lot of Batman beyond is inspired by Spider-Man, the bully's name is named NASH for crying out loud like FLASH thompson ( bruce timm, you nerd 😂) and his double life as Peter Parker, like cherry, Peter didn't start changing after he spent a few years being Spider-Man, but before that , he was a lot like Willy, obviously Terry represents Willy wanted to be, and Willie laments over that But, I find interesting is that while he was in prison, he was so close to having everything he wanted, confidence, good looks, even girls But because of his OWN lingering insecurities instilled from his father, He ended up losing out on everything ( which is pretty much what this whole video sumed up)
