even IF its fake, sweet idea, concept and execution. (for the video) mad props if you actually made this and it worked, and you accounted for any irregularities in style through software.
lol, ya'll are killing me. That song is almost the most famous traditional folk song in Japan, historically speaking. Its just a mixed beat played over Sakura, Sakura. (桜さくら)
this is very possible, just using midi controllers hooked up to different parts of the bike, you could use all sorts of things like this. Weather the video itself has been edited or not, the concept of doing this is very real
It's definitely not for those without the skills to move their BMX right...but there's a possibility that the music doesn't speed up further after a certain threshold in speed. It only starts slow when the rider starts accelerating, then the music reaches its proper BPM and doesn't increase further no matter how fast you drive your BMX. Just a possibility, but definitely plausible.
AWESOME IDEA!! I love it.. and seriously cant help wonder what kind of music this guy would be making if they handed the bike to him ROFL! Search for "bikedance" (they wont let me put in the link?) This guy has some wicked voodoo bikespell casted on him or somn!
haha novel idea, but EXTREMELY Niche. I could really only think of this being used at the something like the X Games. The amount of people skilled enough to even ride a bicycle like that is extremely limited. i would be very surprised if this goes into mass production.
and for some of you calling this fake, you failed to even see the "making of" video off to the side. . . . it's the first one on on the top. . .the first picture underneath the actual video, for all you "Where's Waldo" readers out there. . . .
No because that Swedish guy was physically impossible. This is actually relatively easy to make, just send the feed of a speedometer and some sensors through a bluetooth and use it as a midi controller. There's no reason why this would be fake. It's just a really clever idea and it obviously works.
I don't doubt that the technology is possible or even implemented, but I'm finding it a bit hard to believe that the music came out as "clean" as it sounds. It didn't seem like some of the moves that should have been registered did, probably because it would make the song sound weird. It's a great concept and a great way to market your product (A bike sharing system, not an actual turntable bike), but something feels a bit too polished about it.
LOL! its a very simple mechanism of two disc's connected to each other.. works very nicely for tricks but you loose a lot of the stopping power. For any pictures just google "bmx brake system" ;)
Or after filming and editing the video they have some guy with Traktor and a controller watch the video while doing it and recording whatever sounds best , then edit it to make it somewhat believable.
I knew for sure it was fake at 1:55... you'd have to be the illest crab scratcher in the world to make that sound with a fader... this guy pulled his head to the side and twitched one finger like he was "special"... dope vid tho
and the soundtrack was edited and dubbed by a Japanese video editor... Here's my final answer: it is partially real (the technology works), but the video was heavily edited for coolness... /discussion
Cogoo is a bicycle sharing service in Japan. Special bike locks are placed on the front tire you subscribe to the service and receive a cellphone app that unlocks the bikes (much like our zipcar service in the US) . you use them for the day and then lock them up at designated stations. Im pretty sure this is just a promo for that particular service since this "music" device seems pretty unfeasible and honestly not that cool really.
I'm Japanese. This is not a fake. However, mass production is like a judgment from a look at the future trends. And you will search, "turntablerider" site of this product. In addition, I personally, have nothing to do with this company. Because I felt uncomfortable, even though it is said to fake.
Ommmmmggg
This is like ridiculously amazing!!! If you guys are looking for any American Dj's too use your products live, count me in!!
even IF its fake, sweet idea, concept and execution. (for the video) mad props if you actually made this and it worked, and you accounted for any irregularities in style through software.
That is one of the coolest ideas ever, and very well executed!
かっこいいぜーーーーー!!早くイベントで見たいですね。

lol, ya'll are killing me. That song is almost the most famous traditional folk song in Japan, historically speaking. Its just a mixed beat played over Sakura, Sakura. (桜さくら)
Well.. I don't know whether it's me or you. Fact is both of can see different things in their movements. I think it does match up pretty good! o.o
Original song is "Sakura Sakura", traditional Japanese folk song.

Woooowww!!!! Bike & Elextro !!!
its not fake, people who don't do there research and speak without thinking, but i would like to see this first hand :)
Sweet baby Jesus. This is incredible.
I love the evolution of turntablism in Japan.
I love the idea, the moves made rhythm not reversed.
In a word.... RAD :)
That is "SAKURA SAKURA".
"Sakura Sakura" is a song in ancient Japan.
これは格好いいと思った。

I dont know the name of the remix but the Original track is a famous japanese folk song called Sakura
There is a proverb in Japan.「百聞は一見にしかず」
"Seeing is believing"

So its a bike that makes sound effects while I ride it?
we need more space for our live performances xD
Can't wait until Redbull gets their hands on that. :D
Excellent
Thanks to these Japanese guys, digital DJing gains a crucial aspect of true technical skills…
so cool!
The DJ is Nathan Barley. Big in East, yeah.
見せて・聴かせて
見てるほうも、見せてる方も面白いだろうね。

I love Japan
you can check the song on TR website.
TURNTABLE SKATEBOARD IS NEEDED
LOL! its a very simple mechanism of two disc's connected to each other.. works very nicely for tricks but you loose a lot of the stopping power.
For any pictures just google "bmx brake system" ;)
hehe exactly... now you could get that sound from a crab scratch... but only if you had a robot hand with 1000 tiny fingers going lightning fast!
Maybe the kit can be used on anything besides a bike.
Don't worry about it, it's my job to search these videos to give my opinion about the smallest things.
yep... he was simply controlling traktors built-in gate effect whith the fader.
Or after filming and editing the video they have some guy with Traktor and a controller watch the video while doing it and recording whatever sounds best , then edit it to make it somewhat believable.
its always the japanese who always have the good stuff.
I knew for sure it was fake at 1:55... you'd have to be the illest crab scratcher in the world to make that sound with a fader... this guy pulled his head to the side and twitched one finger like he was "special"... dope vid tho
somebody knows the track from 1:38 ?? or at least the original song that was sampled ?
it seems to be DJ BAKU, but i dont know the track !!
the only thing that would make this cooler is if when you fall, theres the sound of a car crash
It will be demoed live at TEDx Tokyo next week. You can see the live stream or the uploaded video afterwards at tedxtokyo website (google it)
and the soundtrack was edited and dubbed by a Japanese video editor... Here's my final answer: it is partially real (the technology works), but the video was heavily edited for coolness... /discussion
Exercise and turn-tabling.. How boss..
Not a fake, it's a better invention of 2012 ^_^ by Cogoo
売って欲しい!!!!!!!

"SAKURA SAKURA" Japanese old folk song.
Does "Cogoo" mean "road" or "Line" in Japanese...ala "United Cogoo" when saying United Airlines?
Anyone know the name of the track at 1:40... Asian ethnic style mixed with dubsteppy flavour?
Somebody have the name of the sample starting at 1:36 ?
Wow!!!
Where is the turntable?
what's the name of the song playing at 1:40 ?????
Anyone knows the name of the music at 1.39?
2:00 - 2:24
How do I ride bike?
would take drunk dj'ing to another level!!
Cool
More so controllerism~ but still very epic.

Sweet
Japanese is a pretty honest people to get the job done.
from 1:07 the guy rides slowly an then speeds up. The audio did not. I doubt it works as flawlessly as shown here.
Cooooooool
What's the song @0:36
U must watch the Making video.
I did and it seemed even more fake... but yeah, it really is a cool video.. would have been doper if they actually made it legit without cheating :-)
SAKURA
It's a traditional Japanese song.
COGU means "Pedal" or "Row" in Japanese.
You have obviously never rode a BMX bike before if you think the brake cables would snap by turning the handles over and over.
