    The unfortunate reality is many black and brown people have to deal with situations like that more often than they should and it doesn’t always end with a misunderstanding, more often than not it ends much worse. I can empathize with the feelings of anger, embarrassment and all of that and want to encourage continued prayer through understanding and peace for your family. 💛

    Yikes!!! Sooo glad you guys had the contract there. I’m so sorry that happened to you.
    We had a bad experience with a Hertz rental car where we returned it after 1 day but they said we’d never returned it. We contacted them and they said they’d resolve it but they didn’t…we got a $200+ pending charge on our credit card and a warning in the mail that they’d report it as stolen soon if we didn’t “return it”. We had to call multiple times to get it fixed. I’ve heard that some people are actually getting arrested because Hertz cars are being reported as stolen. So, so stupid.
    I can’t believe they pointed a gun at you, though! That’s crazy. Hopefully everything is smooth sailing with the move/renovation now!

    Guys, you should sue the rental car company for damages. They are at fault for contract negligence and you are entitled to compensation, not just for refund! Congratulations on your purchase

    I also almost got arrested because of a mistake one time. I got pulled over for speeding. I figured I would just get my ticket and go on my merry way. Well, come to find out because of an error in the system, the cop thought I didn't have insurance and that my tag was suspended. I was like, "Wait, what? I have insurance. what are you talking about?" He said I had to get insurance like RIGHT NOW or my car would get towed. So I called my mom (also confused), she showed up, we called the insurance company and they were like, "Yeah, you have insurance." After all that, the cop informed me that if I hadn't gotten all that figured out I would've gone to jail. That was the icing on top of my already pretty bad day. Now, looking back, if that's the worst 2022 has to offer to me, I'm cool with that. I've had worse days.

    I’m just confused why they would point a gun at you for “a stolen vehicle”! I mean obviously I’m not familiar with their policies but that seams a little drastic to me 😅

    • @Olive-sv1zw
      @Olive-sv1zw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s called a felony stop or a high risk stop. The way it works is exactly like they described it. It’s done for exactly what the named implies, felonious crimes (which stealing a car falls under) or high risk incidents. It’s done because if a vehicle is reported stolen (and actually stolen not like this case, but it happens no matter what) law enforcement doesn’t want to walk up to the vehicle because if a person stole a vehicle, they probably don’t have the best intentions and won’t hesitate to hurt police. So it’s basically in place as a safety policy. Hope that helps!

    • @matthewsmith3078
      @matthewsmith3078 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Olive-sv1zw Sure the cops feel safe, but people are traumatized for life. Whenever that happens police should find some way to offer assistance in overcoming trauma. It may be routine for the cops, but it’s usually one of the most traumatic experiences of an innocent person’s life.

    I do appreciate the police and we do need them, but they could’ve handled it differently. Like do a regular pullover and talk to a person. Like if a persons speeding, or has a tail light out. Better things ahead for you guy!
    I would MOST definitely get that refunded cause THEY put you in that position…Sorry that happened to you Nick! 🙃😏😟

    • @abbyweibel5751
      @abbyweibel5751 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. The car was registered as stolen so they did the right thing not walking right up to the vehicle. That’s how cops get shot. It’s written that way in every police department policy that I’m aware of.

    (Australian here) America is MESSED UP. In Australia we always joke Americans shoot first and ask questions later. An Aussie cop I know in his 16 years has only ever brought out his gun ONCE in his whole career and NEVER shot it. Seriously, authority does not have to mean violence 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
