Hoi An is hands down one of my favorite places on earth. I am so proud of the locals for keeping the character of the town. To have a walkable town with no mega chain restaurant in sight is such an underrated treat

Hoi An is "one of those places that conjures up daydreams of an ideal far away land - exotic, beautiful, and seemingly right out of a fairy tale." The beautiful, enchanting, colorful town makes you feel like you are taking a step back in time. Noted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, Hoi An is a magical place. Just go and see this place . . . there is no equal globally.

Hoi An is beautiful and interesting. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful sceneries. My Vietnamese hair dresser also recommended Hoi An. We will definitely visit there on one of our yearly trips to Thailand. You must be back in Thailand by now. Hope Ms. Ploy is doing well.

I was around Hoi An as a Marine in 1968-70. We had some fierce battles on Go Noi Island which is just west of Hoi An. We also did regular resupply of a Leper Colony that was just NE of Hoi An. Our base was at An Hoa / Phu Loc 6 and we operated all over the Dai Loc mapsheet in Quang Nam Prov.

Beautiful video. You make it look so good. I have been to Vietnam a few times. But I just stay in Hanoi and Saigon. I only ate Hainese Chicken in Hoi An when the bus stop. So this and Danang is a reason to dream of revisiting Vietnam.

I visited Hoi An in 2020 just at the start of COVID and it was a bustling town full of tourists. I was looking for somewhere to retire too but felt that it was too touristy which drives the prices up. I did enjoy my time there but it is definitely not for me. Again nice video and thank you for putting in the time to make all of your videos. 😁

I came back from Bangkok, Hoi An, Hue, and Da Nang trip. I agree with many people saying that Hoi An is too touristy. But I actually had the best experiences in Hoi An (and Bangkok) in this trip.
Although Hoi An in the evening is very crowded, cycling and walking around the river and old town daytime is really relaxed and people were so friendly. The beautiful lively night life is a bonus!
It is like when you go to a beach destination, you will love the quiet uncrowded beach at daytime, but will enjoy a party or a crowded night market at night.
I was lucky because many international tourists had not come back yet. The majority of tourists in Hoi An are Vietnamese now.
A restaurant owner told me that about 3,000 Chinese tourists came to Hoi An every evening before the pandemic. So, it is the best to go to Hoi An before Chinese tourists come back.

We were in Hoi An in 2013 and know how nice it is, plan to go back in 2023, Hoi An is what we remember and talk about when we think of Vietnam, but also Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Na Trang and Saigon we like to remember as lovely places. Thank you for your reports which are very useful. Take care 👋

I visited this very unique and charming place in 2018. However Hoi An was so overly crowded with tourists at that time that it was nearly unenjoyable. I stayed at Hoi An Trails Resort and Spa and that was truly a fantastic place and planing to return again in the near future.

Hi Gabi... 1st thing I would like to say is, I really like your vlog style, 2nd I wonder if I am your oldest subscriber at 64? I just wanted to comment on Hoi An, I didn't get to Hoi An until my 2nd visit to Vietnam as the amount of tourist in one place was a tad frightening,( I know I am a tourist and travel to places that are set up for people like me.) Before my visit to Hoi An, SaPa was my favorite place in Vietnam, I still love Sapa but Hoi An is a stand out place. I don't really know why but the amount of people is not a problem. The people of Hoi An remind me of the people from Koh Samui in the early 80's ..... My wife and I both love Hoi An .... You have got us planing motorbike ride through Loas after watching you vlog on that. Love your work

That drone shot of the city is so pretty with their tiled roof. It has a European look from above with a grid system. I never heard of this place. Vietnam was destroyed, yes, but mostly in the North & above 17th parralel where the US dropped 5 million tonnes, twice of the total of WWII, so from Da Nang towards the south it did not suffer as much destruction.

June, July, August is the month when students have summer vacation, Vietnamese families will travel domestically in tourist destinations, so it is very crowded and difficult to book. You should visit Vietnam in March, April, 9, October, November, which is ideal for the weather 25-27oC and has sunshine and very beautiful scenery.

I was in Hoi an in 1994 . In that time, I was visiting a friend who run a bar in a fantastic colonial house , near the japanese bridge. That was the beginning of the mass tourism industries, but not too busy and I really enjoyed. Now, 5 million tourist per year for such a tiny place. Terrible !! Tourism spoil everything, and as the vietnamese are so greedy and into business 24h a day, it's gonna get worst and worst , like Bali on the 70's.Sad tropics!

Unfortunately I found Hoi An extremely touristy and didn't enjoy it at all. Glad you are having a different experience Gabi

In Hoi An people working in tourism, boating and selling should wear antique clothes.

Good video. Hoi An is way to touristy now, just wait until Chinese tourists come flooding back. 80. % of the buildings are shops selling souvenirs, 15% are restaurants and just 5% are historical buildings. It doesn't appeal to me.
