Installed on my car (Simi-Permitte installation) Behind Front rear view mirror and high on Back windscreen - Set-Up on smartphone for simple drive and go
Great video, as a non-tech, non-electrician whose tool box is a tape measure, a screwdriver, a hammer, and pliers, this is a great video. I've got everything done up to connecting to the car's power source. I want to use the fuse box so I can have the parking video work (my main reason for having the camera). Do you have any videos of that? I have the fuse taps as well. 2009 Elantra Touring. I don't know which is the pos/neg on the fuses etc. Any ideas?
The unit works be sensing a voltage difference between the vehicle at rest and when the vehicle is running, so as long as it is not a hybrid or has some sort of OBDII gateway module between it, it should work for you on a Passat
I have a 2024 hyundai hybrid plug-in. I was reading that some OBD 2 cables are not compatible with hybrid/electric vehicles. Would this obd 2 cable work? Would running down the battery be a concern? Any suggestions?

The HWK-TW01 plug and play harness shown is a "T-harness" type connection that plugs inline with the vehicle's OBD2 connector to provide constant and ignition power to the camera. One end connects to the factory OBD2 port, one end connects to the IGN-3 module, and the last end mounts where the original OBD2 plug originally resided under the dash.
This is a old video so i dont know if i will get a reply i cant call the number as im in Australia nor can i find anything to help but im having problems with the cloud. I just bought a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid. Will the OBD-2 adapter work in my vehicle? Should I hardwire? What is the best option? I do want the Parking Surveillance, since I live in an apartment complex.
I have a 1974 Corvette Stingray roadster (convertible). The small windscreen is pretty crowded with the front cam, the rear cam(spun around), the GPS receiver and the toll road pass. The F200 kit (dash cams, front and rear) only comes with hard wiring. Is there a preferred power connection point or as long as it has constant power?
You will need either the hardwire kit cartecknow.com/collections/dash-cam-accessories/products/hardwire-kit or the OBD-II connector cartecknow.com/collections/dash-cam-accessories/products/obd-ii-power-cable-for-thinkware-dash-cam-installation
Depending on the model you purchased it may have only come with the hardwire kit. You can purchase the 12v adapter here cartecknow.com/collections/dash-cam-accessories/products/cla-power-cable-car-charger
Hi there, we recommend using our OBD2 power harness. It can be purchased here: cartecknow.com/products/obd-ii-power-cable-for-thinkware-dash-cam-installation
This kit has a front facing camera and a rear window camera, not a camera for the interior of the vehicle. So you may see the person walk up to the vehicle but you wouldn't have them on camera once in the vehicle. You could place the rear camera in a location to have a view of the interior if you decided that was a better option than the rear view.
Hi! So I connected the Kit I bought from you guys to the original OBD2 port of my mustang and the camera is still not being powered on. Did I need something else?
@MrHungarianHammer no I called their support and it ended up being forwarded to a 3rd party company that no long deals with support for this camera. Support no longer exist really. I went ahead and went to a sound audio shop and had them hardwire the kit to my cars battery for like $120. Cost more but worth it since it’ll be on 24/7
Your dash cam's power module will be able to monitor voltage level and will automatically shut off to prevent vehicle battery drain. You can enable the Battery Protection feature in the Settings menu.
@@cartecknow1817 so will it record at night while its parked and turned off with the parked wire adapters? that is what i am looking for. If it does do i have the option of how many hours i want it to record?
Three things. 1 - The OBDD2 always has power on some cars (based on how it is wired) and eventually you batter would go dead. 2 - It would not be advisable to splice wires on a vehicle that is still under factory warranty as this would void it. 3- It would be better to hook it up to your fuse box.
Hi there. Constant power is required for parking mode to function and isn't unique to the OBD2 cable. Both the included hardwire cable and our OBD2 cable provide constant power. Furthermore, Thinkware dashcams come with a battery saving function that will shut down the camera to prevent it from draining your battery. We've successfully tested our OBD2 cable in parking mode for up to 2 weeks. Lastly, according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act passed by the US Congress, splicing wire and tapping into your fuse have the same affect in that neither will void your factory warranty. Thanks for watching!
no.. the fa200 has a built-in battery voltage cutoff. you can set at what you want it to shut down at. So you should probably delete your comment lol. The whole purpose is for it to always have power that way you can use it in parking mode for motion or impacts. dumbass.

Make sure wifi button is presse before you start application. I spent hours and days installing this lousy software on my Samsung S20 ultimate. Dont give up, it will work. If you dont buy your camera from an authorized dealer, whoever that is, thinkers will NOT stand behind there warranty. Good luck. Thinkware FA200 hardwired with rear camera.

Instead of hacking your way into the cars wiring loom... You can also just use an add-a-fuse and tap a constant or switched fuse.
There are different options for installing this camera, some people prefer a wired connection. But you could use an add-a-fuse as well.

The hardwire kit requires constant power, accessory power and a ground. You should be able to find those wires under the dash.

A question, if you left your car parked and unlocked then someone steal something. Is it recorded?
This kit has a front facing camera and a rear window camera, not a camera for the interior of the vehicle.
