    "president has the power to enact martial law"
    Presidents have had that power for quite some time. It didn't take the Patriot Act to give it to him.
    "power to break into your home without a warrant"
    ONLY if you are affiliating/associating with known terrorist organizations. You have legitimate concerns. But the lack of abuse of these powers, over the last 8 yrs is significant. They're emergency measures to prevent terrorism.

      Abraham Lincoln, technically the antislavery movement. The New York Tribune and the Congregational Church movement in the early and mid 1800s.

    Not even close. Go read the definition of "totalitarianism." Then try and point out the similaries...
