YES, IT'S JUST THEIR VOICES...NO INSTRUMENTS! There's a reason why they are considered one of the best acapella groups in the world. Winning 3 Grammy Awards has only added to their greatness. If you have a chance to listen to them live when they tour, do it, you will not be disappointed! Great voices and great people to their fans!
“If that’s strictly all their voices, that is stupid talented, like... that sounds incredible.”. YES. Only voices & hand claps & foot stomps. YES each member has a wide vocal range allowing for creative arrangements. YES they are incredible individually and together they are a powerhouse of sound! Only one band member change. Avi was the bass 2011-2016, Matt (heard here) since 2017. Hope you explore further. They all sing in Mary Did You Know? You might like their covers of Can’t Hold Us or Problem! They just released an original called Happy Now! Those of us that have followed their journey since they won the Sing Off in 2011 call ourselves Pentaholics! Welcome!
@@SuffiReax The best way to make yourself believe that it's just their voices, you should check out some live performances! All their "Evolution of.." videos are filmed live in studio, they're famous for their medleys/mashups. They have tons of original music too, there's a video called Pentatonix popspring performance 2016, it's got four songs and the sound mixing was perfect to show how in sync they really are. Glad you're on this journey, subbed and looking forward to more PTX reactions!
Yes its all their voices. Kevin DOES SING the beatboxer (tenor, cellist, saxophonist, and pianist) doesn't always sing in beat heavy songs since he is the whole percussion section.
They are stupid talented. They have so many amazing songs and covers. Kevin (beatboxer) is insanely talented. I second the other requests i’ve seen from people.
Yet another new subscriber just this moment, because of you reacting to Pentatonix. Like others, I LOVE watching people discover them and what makes them special : 1. They all have solo-quality voices (no "passenger" members; Kevin the beatboxer has a good tenor voice and did sing here in the choir bits between verses, but didn't get a solo as he does in some of their other songs) and yet they blend into a perfect unity. 2. They have mad genius for creative and effective arrangements that make the most of their resources. You have a lot of fun ahead of you if you continue with them, as well as an increase in subscribers.
Welcome to the pentaholic family! A quick run down of the group. Scott, tall blonde, he’s the baritone, Kirstin, or kirsty (rhymes with thirsty) is the mezzo soprano. Mitch, is the counter tenor, the one with the mullet shown here. Kevin is the beat boxer/cellist/tenor. Matt is the bass shown in this video (2017 to present). The old bass left for family reasons, his name is avi. (He has some great solo stuff out now). The trio, Scott Mitch and kirsty have all been friends since high school and Scott and Mitch have been best friends since the age of 10. They went on the sing off at 19 adding in avi and Kevin last minute. They ended up winning the show at 19 y/o. (Mitch missed his graduation to tryout for the show). After that, their record label dropped them and they were on there own. They have now won three Grammys for three different songs and have countless platinum albums. The three Grammy songs are Daft Punk, Dance of the sugar plum fairy, and Jolene ft. Dolly Parton. Also, Scott and Mitch have a side project called super fruit you should check out too. One more thing, since you are entering the a cappella world, there’s 2 other groups you should check out. They are home free, and voice play. Great reaction!
Thank you very much for the history and information! I feel much more prepared as I delve into more of their music (and I guarantee there will be more to come). That is also very cool that they have been friends like that for so long and were able to become THIS successful together as well as REMAIN friends! So glad the success and everything that comes with it didn't tear them apart!
@@SuffiReax One of the great things about Pentatonix is that they are all just really nice down-to-earth people who are very open and appreciative of their fans. With the Sing Off win they won a $250,000 prize and a contract with Sony, however Sony dropped them within a couple of weeks because they basically did not know how to market A ccapella. The group refused to give up and turned to You Tube, quickly putting out several vids and building on their fanbase from the Sing Off. Then a friend with a little more know how helped them put together the vid for Daft Punk - they recorded it in a closet and shot it in a kitchen at one of their houses, all for $400. And they won their first Grammy. They were quickly signed to a new record label and were given free reign to continue promoting themselves as they was fit. It's probably not apparent when reacting to their music videos like this but they have a number of behind the scene type videos as well that really let the fans into who they are. PTXperience vlogs, making of type videos, twitter and instagram postings, and just some funny song vids they had fun with like Gangnam Style with bloopers, or when Kirstin got together with Mitch and Scott on Superfruit to do a Frozen Medley. They are not afraid to let their fans see them being, well, human! There are a lot of celebs out there who could take lessons from PTX on fan interactions. It was quite sad when Avi decided to leave the group - there's a vid for that too where he tearfully explains his reasons and all the others are there to support him. And he helped them find their new base, Matt. They've worked very hard to get where they are but their success has not gone to their heads. It's just one more reason we love them.
I absolutely looove Pentatonix. And yes it's just their voices! Kevin the beatboxer does sing in other songs of theirs. I'd love to see you react to more of their stuff, like Imagine and Hallelujah. They've also got tons of Christmas music, so for that I'd say Little Drummer Boy and Mary Did You Know?
Yep, no instruments or double tracking. This is how they sound live. It’s insane! Daft Punk, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah, Imagine are all ones I highly recommend!! Kevin (the beatboxer on the end) does sing!!! He has a beautiful voice.
Their covers of Say Something, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Did You Know, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, their Daft Punk medley, etc, are all amazing as well
Great reaction! Love Pentatonix! Hope you do more! A few suggestions. Bohemian Rhapsody, imagine(Kevin, the beatboxer sings in that one), and Hallelujah. Those are good to start. Oh if you end up doing more Pentatonix, you definitely need to use headphones. It will make a big difference! Until next time! Have fun!
😱 WOW! That was fabulous! I have never heard of this group! I will now be on the hunt for more of their stuff!! I just love finding new music! You are indeed doing this right!
Kevin, the gentleman in the black suit, does sing in some of the songs Pentatonix does. However, if you'd really like to hear his voice, he has a number of solo videos out as well, and they are amazing. I love it when people question weather or not all of the sounds they're hearing are made by the folks in the group. Some of the other Pentaholics get a bit upset about people doing that, but I take is as a compliment to the group. If you're questioning weather or not the sounds you're hearing are made by the people you see on the screen then they've done exactly what they set out to do. They've made those sounds so like what they were trying to mimic you can't tell the difference. However, I have a fun one for you. Since everyone has suggested you check out " Hallelujah " I would ask that you go one small step further. DO check out the official video...but also, in the same reaction video, check out the live version they did for their Christmas special. I think you'll enjoy hearing the song done almost exactly the same recorded in studio as live. Weather or not you decide to do the double reaction, thank you for doing THIS reaction. It's always a lot of fun tagging along on someone else's journey into Pentatonix.
He is such an extremely talented man, I would love to hear his solo work. And yes! I agree, if they make the sounds and noises sound so close to the actual thing that someone has to ask "Is that actually them?" then they have done their job! And they did it marvelously. Hallelujah I have very high up on my list cause that is one of my all time favorite songs, so I am hoping to be able to do it soon and when I do I will try to remember the live version as well :) Thanks for watching!!
Of course, they recorded the audio in a studio, but it was all done acapella (without instruments). Their beatboxer made all the percussion sounds with just his voice and body. Although he didn't sing in this video, he does sing sometimes with a nice tenor voice.
Pentatonix is amazing. And yes, its all their voices/sounds with mouth (?). Their version of Can You Feel The Love Tonight is astonishing. You could react to some of their oldest videos too, like Evolution of Music and Evolution of Michael Jackson. Great reaction, as always :)
Very basic introduction for Pentatonix(PTX) members, Matt(white jacket)---bass, singing bass line most of time. He went high in this one, but you could tell he 's bass from the '...souND of SILENNNNCE'😂. Kirstin(the female)---mezzo-soprano, she went low in this one, usually her voice sounds sweet and bright. She changes her looks quite often. Scott(tall blond)---baritone, he also went quite low in this one, he usually more sounds like a tenor. He'll cover the bass line when bass is singing the lead. Mitch(dark hair with high voice)---tenor/counter tenor, he's at upper harmony in this song, and you will hear his stunning high notes from other songs. He changes his looks a lot too. Kevin(on the far right with black suit)---beat boxer/tenor, Kevin's super talented and can play multiple instruments. You'll see him play the cello and beat boxing at the time in some ptx songs, he doesn't have many leads because he usually busy at keeping the beats going. Pentatonix have won 3 Grammys so far. They recently released an new EP 'at home' and a new original song called 'happy now'.
More Pentatonix please! All acapella, huge repertoire, all amazing. They sound just as good live as they do recorded. I think my personal favorite is their mashup of New Rules (Dua Lipa) and Aaliyah’s are you that somebody. Matt and Kevin do a great job with the beat. But everything they do is incredible!
The guy at the end, Kevin, sings sometimes in various songs. In most other songs he is the "Celloboxer". You can see him sing in "Mary Did You Know" and "Say Something"
Surprised you haven't heard of them...only vocals. They've been around for 9 years after winning on the TV Show Sing Off (Acapella competition). They've won 3 Grammys; numerous successful records, many concerts and 4 world tours, selling out every time. Their TH-cam channel has over 18 MILLION subscribers and 5.5 BILLION views of more than 400+ videos. Start with their classics...Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk and Hallelujah. Enjoy the journey
Haha well see, I don't have cable and don't watch tv so I don't see shows like Americas got talent or Sing Off or the Voice or anything like that. I also don't watch Grammys or VMA's or CMA's or anything of the sort. So one could probably argue that I live under a rock but I am certainly glad to have found them and glad to see I have 9 years worth of material to now enjoy for the first time!
Hi, great reaction. I have heard the versions of this song described as follows Simon and Garfunkel, a warning Disturbed, total despair Pentatonix, hopeful.
Calling "Song of Silence" "hopeful" just seems wrong. I should be hopeful that what I am teaching falls silently upon those not hearing? Did they sing it beautifully? Yes. But probably a poor song choice for this group. Stick to "Imagine".
Haha I'd have to agree with Michael, beautiful yes but the song itself is far from hopeful. I do agree with Simon and Garfunkel being a warning and disturbed being despair/frustration/anger for ignoring.
Definetly want to see more ptx reactions from you! You already got all the Information as I see... If you want to see a live performance that is crazy good, react to Aha! Live at singapore the star vista
Strictly vocal and beat boxing. And the beat boxer also sings an plays cello...oh, and he can beat box and play cello at the same time: CELLO BOXING. Anyway...a shout out to my fellow Pentaholics. We should have him squarely in our camp after his next video. Nice reaction. As I always say to aspiring Pentaholics, the Pentatonix rabbit hole is long and deep. Keep reacting to them. Not only would we enjoy the journey with you, but your subs will go up. PTX never disappoints. Peace and health.
@@SuffiReax if you're interested in hearing a cover they did with the chello then a great one you can react to is Shallow? Also they did a few collaborations with Lindsey Sterling Radioactive and another one I can't remember? Also they did a Full Star Wars medley on the American music Awards(AMA's) where they were introduced by Harrison Ford and performed with a full orchestra that is on stage with them! That video is here on TH-cam as well as a tribute performance in honor of the Bee Gees for Barry Gibbs at the Grammys a few years ago! They sang Too Much Heaven and Mitch's high voice along with their tight harmonies and respectful arrangement of the song just blew Barry Gibbs away! That performance is on TH-cam as well :) it sounds great but is a fan made video and is not a close up video so all you can hear is their voices in the live performance! Both are amazing! Not sure if you're interested in reacting to those performance videos but either way they are worth the listen! Enjoy the journey 😊
They recently released a beautiful cover of "When the Party's Over" by Billie Eilish that I noticed you reacted to a week or so ago. You should definitely check that one out, they capture the "toxic relationship" feel of the song without the disturbing visuals that bothered you in Billie's original. ETA: It was one of 5 videos they released over several weeks for songs on their "Home" EP of covers that were all recorded separately during the quarantine. The editing to put all their vocals and videos together is excellent.
Yup, all their voices. Yes, Kevin, the beat boxer does sing but usually is making the percussion sounds. Please do more of PTX, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk, Gold, And Shallow (with Kevin beatboxing while playing cello) and imagine (where Kevin has a solo part). Also their original songs, Love again and Run to you. Subscribed in hopes of hearing more acapella reactions! Also check out Home Free and Voiceplay.
🌟👉PENTATONIX is 3 time Grammy award winning Acapella group! They formed in 2011 when they participated AND WON a televised acapella singing competition called The Sing Off! The members are left to right! 👉Matt Salee (white jacket) - bass, baritone ((Matt is the ONLY one who was not an original member - he replaced original bass Avi in late 2017)) 👉Kirstin (Kirstie) Maldonado - mezzo soprano, alto 👉Scott Hoying (Tall blonde) - baritone bass, falsetto ((Scott takes over the bass when the bass has singing parts)) 👉Mitch Grassi - counter tenor 👉Kevin Olusula (K.O) - beatboxer, tenor, cello. 👉.....Avi (Ah-vee) Kaplan - ORIGINAL BASS, basso profundo, baritone, overtone singing. ((Avi left on good terms with the group - he still makes music))
Kevin, when he sings, is a tenor. But he does the beat-boxing more often than not. If you want to hear him sing as featured voice, try "Mary Did You Know." He also does voice rather than beat in certain sections of "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Welcome to the rabbit hole darlin😂😂 I never get tired of watching new people be blown away by PTX...and fair warning, be prepared for your subs to explode if you keep doing PTX reactions😜 **little piece of advice bc a lot of PTX stuff has an issue with getting flagged: pause the video & comment plenty of times throughout the video. Just make sure you back it up a few seconds so you don't miss anything😘** Here are my personal top recs: •Imagine •Can You Feel the Love Tonight •Come Along •Daft Punk •New Rules/Are You That Somebody •Aha (official video & then the live in Singapore version filmed on someone's phone) •Happy Now •Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy •You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch •Making Christmas And if you really want to get to know them & their story, watch their whole journey on The Sing Off!!🖤 Members: Matt Sallee (new bass) - far left Kirstin Maldonado - girl duh lol Scott Hoying - tall blonde Mitch Grassi - the veer changing chameleon with the mullet Kevin Olusola (beatboxer+) - far right Avi Kaplan (bass that left in 2017) - you'll see him in older videos
Hey Kelly! I will definitely be reacting to more from them, I would love to hear their versions of all these other classics. Thank you for the advice. I have been having copyright issues with much of the twenty one pilots videos, hopefully their label isn't even worse. Haha chameleon! Thank you for the suggestions and rundown on who is who!
Check out their Sing Off performances. It was an acapella singing competition in 2011. You can fully appreciate their beginnings and it was all live. Most, if not all, of their performances will blow your mind! They had Avi first (matt in white jacket replaced him) but left for personal reasons. Avi Kaplan also has his own music on TH-cam. Check him out too!
The beatboxer does sing sometimes. He also plays the cello. Listen to shallow you will hear him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time. Kevin sings on Imagine and Mary did you know. If you want to really hear him beatboxing his heart out listen to Daft Punk. There are no instruments it is all the their voices. They won a Grammy for Daft Punk. It was made on $400 in a closet and the kitchen on an iPad. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy also won them a Grammy and you can really hear the different ranges of the singers the same with love again which is an original. About a month ago they released happy now which is an original. Just keep diving into their catalog.
They are stupid talented; yes that is only their voices. Thank you for the review. Kevin is beatboxer primarily but does sing on occasion. Middle guy--Scott--is not the bass. Bass--Matt--was on left in white jacket. Mitch was small guy in black; he sings tenor but in this song he sang much lower. Kirsten is mezzo-soprano and was right in her range but a bit low. Scott in middle has a wide range but primarily baritone and a bit higher but also can do a bit lower and cover for bass when bass is singing elsewhere. Try out Hallelujah and Bohemian Rhapsody for Pentatonix. Or try out something different like their cover of Gold (Kiara). Finally, Kevin the beatboxer is truly amazing. React to his cover of Down (Marian Hill).
Haha thank you for all those descriptions! The only one I understood was bass lol but I appreciate the explanations. I will certainly be reacting to more!
i think preference for ptx or disturb would be your emotional place when you hear it. Simon and Garfunkle is warning, Disturb's is anger that warning wasn't listened to whereas PTX is hopeful warning will still be heeded. I Know i got goosebumps from both songs.
😉👉Scott Kirstie and Mitch are childhood friends from TX. They grew up doing musical theater and choir. (They were known as The Trio. For the singing competition the acquired Avi (bass) and Kevin (beatboxer). PENTATONIX is BY FAR THE BEST ACAPELLA group there is IF YOU STILL DON'T BELIEVE in them check out the live stuff!!
Would love to hear these guys live. A few years ago I was able to sing this with Paul Simon at a blues and roots festival. I was in bliss....would like to do it with these guys too
Looks like you are digging them so I will subscribe. And I have watched Disturbed’s Sound Of Silence as well. They are both different and great. I think you may have missed Matt’s bass drop which is a key part of this versions amazement. Anyhow. I haven’t seen your other reactions so I’m not sure what to suggest. But a couple songs that Kevin sings in are Mary Did You Know? An Xmas song, Imagine and Say Something. Looking forward to more PTX!
Welcome to the new world of a capella. Pentatonix and Home Free have rewritten the book on a capella worldwide. All of the suggestions for more songs to listen to are great. They have 3 Grammies, one for their "Daft Punk Medley", one for their" Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies", and one for basically being Dolly Parton's backup band(?) on "Jolene". Also, try "Imagine" (John Lennon), "Hallelujah" (Leonard Cohen), and of course, any of their Christmas music. For Home Free may I recommend their "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Will the Circle be Unbroken" (Johnny Cash), and my favorite, "Helplessly Hoping" (Crosby, Stills & Nash) (and then a quarantined Italian Youth Choir's cover of Home Free's arrangement).
Old Simon & Garfunkel fan from way back in the day, and I loved the song back then. I also love both the Disturbed and Pentatonix covers for different reasons. The PTX harmonies are amazing, but I do give Disturbed the slight edge because David Draiman does the best job of anyone I've heard, either original or cover, of truly capturing the darkness of the lyrics. I could listen to either (or both) version(s) on a loop all day though.
I completely agree, both versions are incredible for similar as well as different reasons but like you, Disturbed is still my favorite because of how well he captures the intensity and seriousness of the song. Both are incredible though and I thoroughly enjoyed each.
Pentaholic love Pentatonix so much we search high and low for new reaction videos. you will find that the more reaction videos you do to Pentatonix the more people you will have coming to your channel and subscribing and watching.
Disturbed version is great with it's own twist of what it was written to sound like.. don't get me wrong, I love that version, BUT Pentatonix shows complete respect by covering Simon & Garfunkel, not Disturbed!
Kevin, (the beatboxer) sings in a few but not many songs. One song is Imagine - Their cover of John Lebanon's song. He also raps in their original song, Sing. Those are only 2 examples but I highly recommend reacting to both.
I would love to hear his voice haha I was so excited to hear it, he just looks like it'd be so incredible, so I will definitely check those out. Thank you!
You got this, your hat is amazing and you're like the best reaction youtuber I know, there's this one other youtuber but he's not so great anymore but you, YESSSSS
Welcome to the world of Pentatonix! Do you know the original version by Simon and Garfunkel? It was first an acoustic song and then their producer asked them to do an electric version & it was a hit. That is the version I grew up on. Pentatonix honors that version and does an amazing job modernizing it without loosing the original emotion.
Loved this reaction. Yes, it is just their voices...no instruments, (Unless you count a studio stomp pad & a little reverb when recording it). Kevin does sing in some but he is mainly beat boxing. He has a beautiful voice. Try Imagine, where he sings in that, hitting some pretty high notes, or even Kevin's solo stuff...his covers of Down & Sign Of The Times. (Search under Kevin Olusola) He is craaaaazy talented...they all are! Avi, the original bass left in 2017 & Matt took over, (the black dude on the other end of the line). Avi has solo stuff out which is more folky/Americana & that's absolutely amazing too. He has an even lower voice than Matt I think? New sub here, for the PTX reactions especially. 👍
Yup, just them. Everything they do they can do live. You should check the daft punk medely. They won a Grammy for it and it will blow your mind guaranteed.
The Beatboxer kevin Olusola does sing in "Mary Did You Know", "Imagine" , "Say Something", "Little Drummer Boy" to name a few. He does his own "K.O. solo stuff as well:
We are so glad you like them ! Great reaction. Try "AHA! Live in Singapore" cover from Imogene Heap. They sing everything they do 'live" also. Each song is different, with a different voice focus, but always harmony rises up. "Making Christmas", from The Nightmare Before Christmas. You'll love Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker - "Suger Plum Fairys," by PTX (won a Grammy ). Thank you.
They are completely a capella.. their live performances sound just the same.. yes, they are "stupid" talented! Kevin is the beatboxer and yes he sings and he "celloboxes" as well. This group has almost 10 years of incredible covers and originals and 3 Grammys. You should appreciate BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY or DAFT PUNK medley to name a couple suggestions.. **Your numbers will really soar if you continue to react to Pentatonix, because Pentaholics LOVE to hear reactions from people just discovering PTX ..and there are millions of us around the world! Liked and Subscribed hoping to see more of PTX
Saw you did a PTX reax and BOOM instasub. Thank you. Tens of thousands more like me. Pentaholics are very supportive. Watch your subs and views explode. You seem like a lyrics guy. Check out their Imagine cover by John Lennon. So relevant today. And Bohemian Rhapsody. That’s only 2. Thanx! Multi Grammy winners btw
I think that the versions I have heard: the original, disturbed, and Pentatonix did an outstanding version for their genres. It’s hard to pick a favorite, even though I lean towards Pentatonix, the disturbed had a greatest feel towards it
If you want to hear Kevin (the guy at the end) sing, you should react to their cover of Imagine. He doesn’t have a big singing part, but you’ll still get to hear him a bit.
The guy they skipped is Kevin and he is the one who is thier "instruments" he does sing to. Matt (the guy in the white coat) is thier bass. The guy you thought was the bass is Scott. He normally sing britone, Mitch was the guy next to Scott who is falsetto and the female is Kirsti. This song was the first time Scott hit those low notes that I know of. Kevin has played cello once or twice since that is impossible to beat box. One team up that I like was Mille Cyrus and Dolly Parton doing Jolen. "White Winter Hymnal" has their original bass (Avi) and was a huge hit among school choirs. Kevin also has his own YT channel under KO.
If, as we all hope, you continue to react to Pentatonix, you will need to keep in mind these key facts: the membership of the group does not change except for Avi the original bass who leaves in 2017 for personal reasons and is replaced by Matt the current bass. Other apparent changes are only in appearance - Mitch the high tenor and Kirsten the mezzo soprano change their looks and styles frequently and drastically. Also, They are indeed solely a cappella with the infrequent addition of Kevin’s cello. See “Say Something“ for an example of Kevin’s celloboxing. New subscriber in anticipation of more PTX. I suggest “Daft Punk”or “Gold”.

Kevin, when he sings is actually a tenor. Avi is the bass, then when he leaves the group, Matt takes over.
Omgsh Mike, that made me laugh out loud😂🤣 I needed that thank you
This made me lol 🤣

All their voices....❤❤❤❤
I absolutely looove Pentatonix. And yes it's just their voices! Kevin the beatboxer does sing in other songs of theirs. I'd love to see you react to more of their stuff, like Imagine and Hallelujah. They've also got tons of Christmas music, so for that I'd say Little Drummer Boy and Mary Did You Know?
Oh man, Christmas in September here we come!
@@SuffiReax yesss, and while we're at it, their version of Away in a Manger is spectacular too!
Omg I'm here before Sean!? Pentaholics will get me lol! 😂 great reaction, keep Pentatonix coming!
Will do!!
Yes, where is Sean???
Their covers of Say Something, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Did You Know, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, their Daft Punk medley, etc, are all amazing as well
Yes Kevin sings and plays cello, welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole😊
Great reaction! Love Pentatonix! Hope you do more! A few suggestions. Bohemian Rhapsody, imagine(Kevin, the beatboxer sings in that one), and Hallelujah. Those are good to start. Oh if you end up doing more Pentatonix, you definitely need to use headphones. It will make a big difference! Until next time! Have fun!
I will certainly be doing more! Thanks for the suggestions
😱 WOW! That was fabulous! I have never heard of this group! I will now be on the hunt for more of their stuff!! I just love finding new music! You are indeed doing this right!
They formed in 2011 and they have done a lot of covers and originals! There is much to explore!
We shall be on the hunt together! We have so much new material to explore and enjoy :)
Welcome to this rabbit hole, Tina! We are the ....Pentaholics!
Hallelujah I have very high up on my list cause that is one of my all time favorite songs, so I am hoping to be able to do it soon and when I do I will try to remember the live version as well :)
Thanks for watching!!
Love Pentatonix! Try their cover of Imagine or Bohemian Rhapsody.
AGREE!
th-cam.com/video/ojRj2JK5oCI/w-d-xo.html
AGREE!!! and i recommend "Aha!" Live in Singapur plus "Daft Punk" medley that they did
Agree I think you’d really enjoy the Bohemian Rhapsody cover, although everything they do is amazing
Thank you :)
I will definitely be listening to those!
Very basic introduction for Pentatonix(PTX) members,
Matt(white jacket)---bass, singing bass line most of time.
Thank you for all the info! I feel like I know them much better now
More Pentatonix please!
Would love to see you so some more Pentatonix reactions. Hallelujah, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Daft Punk are some of my faves
Absolutely!
Oh man... you have tapped into the fandom of PTX! We are the Pentaholics! React to them, and we'll watch!
Lol there will be lots more to come
The guy at the end, Kevin, sings sometimes in various songs. In most other songs he is the "Celloboxer". You can see him sing in "Mary Did You Know" and "Say Something"
Also in Imagine.
Just their voices. Please please more ptx. Just subscribed to see you go down the rabbithole
There will be much more to come :)
Welcome to the Pentatonix journey
Hi, great reaction. I have heard the versions of this song described as follows
Simon and Garfunkel, a warning
Disturbed, total despair
Pentatonix, hopeful.
I love the cello so I can't wait to hear more by him!
I'm very excited to hear what else they have
@@SuffiReax if you're interested in hearing a cover they did with the chello then a great one you can react to is Shallow?
The other one with Lindsey is Papaoutai, the French rock song.
@@tamarasmith9060 yes that's it🤣 I just couldn't remember so thank you!
Oh for real? Yes I would certainly love to hear that version as well haha that way I could actually focus on the lyrics a little more
Calling all Pentaholics! Hootyhoooooo assemble! 😂😂
Lol
I loved this reaction! I hope you will check more of them out. Ptx songs that give me the chills are Imagine, dancing on my own and say something.
There will definitely be more to come :)
welcome to PTX Bohemian Rhasphody... all accapella they sound the same live
Yes they are stupidly talented. All PTX members are unbelievably gifted.
Hallelujah has 552 Millions views, that's over half a Billion in only 4 years. Check it out, or any of their other songs.
That is crazy!! I can't wait to hear it
All their voices.
Welcome to Pentatonix. Guy in black is a beat boxer and a great tenor.
Welcome to PENTATONIX!!! So glad you checked this out. New subscriber here. hope to see more PTX on your channel
Would love more PTX!
🌟👉PENTATONIX is 3 time Grammy award winning Acapella group! They formed in 2011 when they participated AND WON a televised acapella singing competition called The Sing Off!
The members are left to right!
👉Matt Salee (white jacket) - bass, baritone
((Matt is the ONLY one who was not an original member - he replaced original bass Avi in late 2017))
👉Kirstin (Kirstie) Maldonado - mezzo soprano, alto
👉Scott Hoying (Tall blonde) - baritone bass, falsetto ((Scott takes over the bass when the bass has singing parts))
👉Mitch Grassi - counter tenor
👉Kevin Olusula (K.O) - beatboxer, tenor, cello.
👉.....Avi (Ah-vee) Kaplan - ORIGINAL BASS, basso profundo, baritone, overtone singing. ((Avi left on good terms with the group - he still makes music))
Thank you very much for all the info!
Kevin, when he sings, is a tenor. But he does the beat-boxing more often than not. If you want to hear him sing as featured voice, try "Mary Did You Know." He also does voice rather than beat in certain sections of "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Good to know!
"damn he's got a deep voice" i was like: oh you have no idea, you'll be blown away
Just make sure you back it up a few seconds so you don't miss anything😘**
Here are my personal top recs:
•Imagine
•Can You Feel the Love Tonight
•Come Along
•Daft Punk
•New Rules/Are You That Somebody
•Aha (official video & then the live in Singapore version filmed on someone's phone)
•Happy Now
•Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
•You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
•Making Christmas
And if you really want to get to know them & their story, watch their whole journey on The Sing Off!!🖤
Members:
Matt Sallee (new bass) - far left
Kirstin Maldonado - girl duh lol
Scott Hoying - tall blonde
Mitch Grassi - the veer changing chameleon with the mullet
Kevin Olusola (beatboxer+) - far right
Avi Kaplan (bass that left in 2017) - you'll see him in older videos
@@SuffiReax you're welcome!!✌🏼😁
Check out their Sing Off performances. It was an acapella singing competition in 2011. You can fully appreciate their beginnings and it was all live. Most, if not all, of their performances will blow your mind! They had Avi first (matt in white jacket replaced him) but left for personal reasons. Avi Kaplan also has his own music on TH-cam. Check him out too!
Oh boy you just opened the flood gates for a whole bunch of Pentatonix history and recommendations.
Lol I sure did
Love them...!! Thanks for the reaction Danny 🙂
Check out "AHA!" Live in Singapore! 💖
Dang!
Thanks for the info :)
You should check out their version of Bohemian Rhapsody. They do all beats and percussion. Have subscribed for more Pentatonix ❣️
I certainly will, thanks!
Definitely 👌🏻👌🏻
Kirstin
More PTX. More PTX, please. Kevin (the beatboxer) does sing and he does a lot more. You’ll hear him if you do more. Subbed in anticipation.
I will most definitely be doing more!
Hopefully you will dive into more of their music...!
I most certainly will
i think preference for ptx or disturb would be your emotional place when you hear it. Simon and Garfunkle is warning, Disturb's is anger that warning wasn't listened to whereas PTX is hopeful warning will still be heeded. I Know i got goosebumps from both songs.
Kevin sings a great deal in imagine, and mary did you know!
Oh wow that is so cool! I didn't know that. That makes it even more fun to see their success together
That guy in the black suit is called Kevin. He’s the talentest ever. Yeah he sings in their cover of imagine by Jhon lennon👌🏼 you should check it out
Would love to hear these guys live. A few years ago I was able to sing this with Paul Simon at a blues and roots festival. I was in bliss....would like to do it with these guys too
There is no filler. They don't sing anything they cannot perform live.
Incredible!
Thanks for the sub :)
There will be many more to come, I absolutely loved them
All voices - hence "Acapella" and yes, very talented!
Would love more Pentatonix♥️♥️
Pentaholic love Pentatonix so much we search high and low for new reaction videos. you will find that the more reaction videos you do to Pentatonix the more people you will have coming to your channel and subscribing and watching.
Lol well I plan to do many more, I loved this song so I know I will love many others by them
Kevin IS the Beatboxer, does sing and a chellist. HE IS AMAZING!!
Disturbed version is great with it's own twist of what it was written to sound like.. don't get me wrong, I love that version, BUT Pentatonix shows complete respect by covering Simon & Garfunkel, not Disturbed!
Liked disturbed but their version is more anvry, pentatonic seems more hopeful/powerful!?!
Welcome to the PTX fam!
I think you'd like their "Mary Did You Know" too!
Haha Thank you! :)
Yes voices only aside from a few stomps and claps they are all so amazingly talented. Kevin does sung occasionally amazing voice he also plays cello.
Yay, you did it! Stupid talented is right. :)
(Pardon / TOP but blanking on the song name because I don't think it's in the chorus)
Lol so much talent
Correct one the word. It's from Migraine
The Beatboxer kevin Olusola does sing in "Mary Did You Know", "Imagine" , "Say Something", "Little Drummer Boy" to name a few. He does his own "K.O. solo stuff as well:
Haha I want to hear his voice so bad now since I got to hear everyone else's, it was like a cliff hanger. I will definitely be checking those out!
Loved your reaction! I subbed for more PTX...I'm a die hard Pentaholic! Please do more and enjoy!
Thank you!
There will be many more to come :)
I love finding the 1st PTX reaction. Yup. All them
We are so glad you like them !
I absolutely love them and their talent already, I will certainly be doing more by them. Thank you! :)
The Beat Boxer sings too. Excellent voice.
If you want to hear Kevin sing, he gets to sing in Pentatonix's version of "Mary Did You Know", and he's got a GREAT tenor voice!
The beat boxer does sing sometimes and his voice is just as amazing.
JUST THEIR VOICES! Last guy is Beatboxer. He does sing. You MUST watch more.
I most certainly will!
The only instrument they use is a Chello sometimes. Kevin the beatboxer plays it and beatboxes at the same time. That is all their voices!!!!!
The guy on the end sometimes sings his name is Kevin checkout imagine or marry did you know to hear
All their voices
Saw you did a PTX reax and BOOM instasub. Thank you. Tens of thousands more like me. Pentaholics are very supportive. Watch your subs and views explode. You seem like a lyrics guy. Check out their Imagine cover by John Lennon. So relevant today. And Bohemian Rhapsody. That’s only 2. Thanx! Multi Grammy winners btw
I can't wait to check out more of their music!! They have beautiful voices and the whole acapella aspect makes it even more incredible.
Go Pentatonix!!!
I think that the versions I have heard: the original, disturbed, and Pentatonix did an outstanding version for their genres. It’s hard to pick a favorite, even though I lean towards Pentatonix, the disturbed had a greatest feel towards it
It is definitely hard to pick haha and you can't go wrong with either one.
You should do a reaction to these guys doing Bohemian Rhapsody. SO GOOD!
Funny you should mention Matt's (the bass) jacket. He's a jacket and shoes guy.
Haha he looked very classy
a lone singer did a version of this song that was amazing. His name is Tomi P and i would highly recommend it
Subscribed! Looking forward to more PTX if you feel so inclined 😃
Thank you!
There most certainly will be
If you want to hear Kevin (the guy at the end) sing, you should react to their cover of Imagine.
Thank you!
I will definitely be doing much more of their music!
Suffi Reax You will find the Pentaholics to be a welcoming, enthusiastic group. We love it when new people discover Pentatonix, in part because we get to experience it all again through their eyes (and ears!). You are about to embark on a most rewarding journey. Welcome!
