You did a great job of saving the decals. I don’t believe you identified the decals. We’re these kit decals or another brand? Letting the viewers know might save them from using the same decals. Still it is an attractive paint scheme. Thanks for sharing. Well, I went back to the individual segment you made called “Livery” and there you did identify the decals as from Two Bobs. That is a disappointing thing to see as I have many sets of their decals. Perhaps your sets were rather old? In any case I will be wary when it comes time to use their decals. Again, a great looking model!
Hey Dan, thank you very much for your kind words! Yes, the decals were quite a nightmare on this one! Since then I avoid Twobobs, because I‘m afraid of another disaster. Maybe I had a bad batch or they were too old! But I bought them directly from the Twobobs website, so guess they should have been okay! I bought another 5 sets with the bad ones and I have no idea about the quality! But a friend from my modeling club told me it‘s a common problem with Twobobs decals! But I can‘t confirm or deny that quote, so I guess I have to give it another shot!

Dang that tube of putty with a nozzle was so convinient, it was just like applying liquid correction fluid.
The Vallejo Putty is really nice stuff!! I love to Work with it. It works great on gaps and ejection pin marks, but not that well on bigger spaces or sinks. For that I usually use super glue. Cheers!
Looks like an excellent build sadly marred by poor decals. Well done on recovering it and producing a great looking F/A-18E.

Thank you very much, Xavier. Yeah, you're right. That was no funny situation with the Birken decals. Luckily, I had the spare ones I originally wanted to sell. And I also have other decals from that batch. To be honest, I'm not that eager to try them out. Cheers!

I am just finishing this with my 6 year old daughter. For the price, this can be built as a nice kit that looks better than the initial price might suggest. However, this is not a kit for a relatively new modeler wishing to take their modeling skills to the next level. The kit has a lot of fit issues that will need filling, sanding and then rescribing of panel lines to get it back in shape. Sanding of flash and some filling of mold pits will also be needed. If you have the skills and patience you can get this model into nice shape and a good airbrush can do the rest. I personally would spend a few more dollars (3x), about, and get the Hasegawa kit that will present fewer fit issues and be a bit easier for a young modeler wishing to make the kit look very good. Just my 2 cents, but it was a good start for my 6 year old with some expert guidance.
You're right. There are definitely better Super Hornet-Kits out there, but one can make a good model out of it. But it needs a little bit effort. How did your daughter like it building a model? Cheers!
@@TheModelorian Thank you for asking. She has enjoyed it and I think I am going to encourage her to start slapping paint on it with her paint brushes. That was how I started until I graduated to an airbrush. I encourage all Dads and Moms to support your kids hobby interests. She saw my kit sitting on the shelf and asked if she could build it. Fortunately she did not select one of my more expensive kits.
Yeah, think about she had chosen Tamiya's F-14 or a Zoukei Mura F-4. But you're right, it is important to support the kids with their interests and hobbies.
@@TheModelorian Yes she did like building the model but that can be a double edge sword. I am now hiding my 1/32 nd kits to save myself some later debates with her as to why she cannot build that kit. LoL
Hilarious this popped up in my feed (maybe because somehow I stumbled on DCS videos) but I enjoyed it...little feedback; I found myself not wanting to stop watching the build to read the subtitles so I just stopped reading them early on...narration would make this a little better maybe. I could be totally wrong though.

i like how you took a standard revell kit to the next level. its nice to work on a fancy tamiya, hasegawa, but the challenge is the enjoyment in building. i took this same model and attempted to put flaps/slats down, and make it look like it just hit the 3 wire. now thats a challenge. and still on the bench as i work on it, then frustrated, then come back to the challenge. sub'd to your channel. again, nice work.
Thank you a lot for your kind and supportive comment, wgaswyt. I have the same opinion about scale model kits. It's not per se a bad kit just because it's cheap. Yes, the Revell F-18E has its flaws, but nothing an average modeller couldn't handle. It actually has really nice details for a kit that cost around 20€. In the end it's important what you make out of it.

I’m running into an issue building mine... on page 12 of the instructions it says to assemble GBU-31 jdam and the MK 83 GP bomb but I can’t seem to find the part anywhere. Does the kit come with those pieces or do they come separately?
Hey SwagRyan.P, thanks for your comment. Which is the Revell-kit, you're building? Mine is the 85-5850 (www.scalemates.com/de/kits/revell-85-5850-f-a-18-e-super-hornet--206389). This kit has no bombs, only 2 Sidewinders and 2 AMRAAMS. The latest Maverick's Super Hornet from Revell (if you're building this one) based on the 85-5850-kit. But the Maverick-Kit actually has JDAMs and GBUs. BTW: I got my bombs from the Hasegawa Aircraft Weapons D-Set (www.scalemates.com/de/kits/hasegawa-x48-8-aircraft-weapons-d--130520)

@@venteach.6289 Then there should be 2 sprues with bombs. At least this is what the instructions on scalemetas says. If these sprues aren't there, I would contact the Revell customer service.

Love that Revell kit I'm going to build the Top Gun version next...
The Revell kit has some fitting issues. But it has also a lot of really nice and crisp details for a very fair price. I would build it again.
