My late nan had the exact same one. I really wouldn’t trust getting these vintage machines posted as too often they get damaged like this during transit.
I get vintage vacuums shipped all the time. It depends on the carrier, the distance, and luck. I only had approximately 3 out of about 65 arrive broken in 6 years span. I would never "pick up" a vacuum from several states away, you spend 6 times what the vacuum cost in gas and it takes about 4-5 days to get there.
Yes, I returned it for a refund. I was hoping to be able to keep it and get a refund, but sadly the seller wanted it back. I returned it in the same box but with the handle separated so it didn’t have the handle sticking out of the box.
Most of these sellers are migrating from other selling platforms because eBay holds the market monopoly and other markets do not get any traffic. So they have zero experience at selling and shipping and just literally throw it in a box.
I feel bad for you Roger. I've ordered 3 vacuums from the UK from here in Indiana, USA and they all arrived with no damage. I have no idea how you can order something so close to you and they smash it. It must be your local couriers doing it. All mine arrived through ParcelForce, maybe they are better handlers.
@@ibaisaic Parcelforce is generally horrible like Evri. I’ve caught parcels thankfully being light but being thrown *at* my door. Many stories of stuff getting stolen and broken.
Oh that is disgusting how do they get away with selling that they need to be banned from eBay. Obviously they don't look after their items. If i owned a vacuum like that I'd be embarrassed for one I'd be getting my council to come and take it to the tip. 😢😢😢😢😢
Enjoyed this video immensely Roger. Shame about the damaged Hoover though.
What a shame! It could have been a really nice looking vacuum. I hope you can find another one.
Such a shame Roger. What a mess it's in. And that would have been so nice all original.

I never have a vintage machine posted - for these reasons. Makes you sick to think people can't be bothered to pack something properly
@ I suppose though when you’re r a collector it’s difficult as “pick up only” items tend to be far away.

@ Well the UK is much smaller than USA so it is more doable. But it’s still probably not worth it.

I feel your disappointment and frustration when items arrive and are not as they should be. I hope you were refunded.

That thing may as well be sent without the packaging!
eBay sellers and sellers on any platform that cant be bothered to pack their items properly should be banned. It’s lazy.

I’ve had vacuums delivered by Parcelforce that were broken. It’s all down to how well they are packed in the first place.

No one ever puts packing on the base so if its dropped it will cushion the blow😞
That’s a good British Hoover Junior it dose remind me of a concept model the same company might have spare parts on eBay
i love this type of vacuum
Such a shame when it happens! What happened in the end Roger, did you end up sending it back to the seller?
can you test a vacuum cleaner of the Polish brand Zellmer, e.g. a vacuum cleaner type Zellmer Predom, please look for this vacuum cleaner
No, that brand is not available in the UK.
That’s the Trunnion broken needs new chassis too 😖
I have a spare chassis and wheels, but no trunnion. It was returned for a refund unfortunately.
They probably will sell it again

12:27 that’s a male black/false widow be careful or it might bite
The birds in the garden have probably eaten it by now.
I looked it up, and I'm not sure that's a male black widow. But even if it was, the males have weaker venom and are not considered dangerous.
Nope. Just a common house spider.
