This is great, thank you for the video. Just wondering however, what is the minimum distance needed between the hole for the screw and the outside of the prosthesis?
Never a case in my professional life with all that vertical dimension. Let s make a tutorial with a real case.peek or peek are useless! Titanium still ne the real solution.
Dear Luca, thank you for your comment. You're right, titanium is still widely used and a good solution. However, current trends show that metal-free frameworks are gaining in popularity. The idea of this video was to show how a metal-free restoration can be made with Pekkton® ivory or high-performance polymers in today’s dentistry, using the shell technique. For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us via medtech-marketing@cmsa.ch. Thank you very much & best wishes, Barbara
@@dentalcmsa The downside of peek press is time consuming for the lab. plus to many products used wich means increase in cost. My lab offered peek and the cost was the same as zirconia whats the point?
The final restoration is made with lots of composite resin. Composite resin absorbs foul odors and the prosthesis will soon smell bad. I do not recommend.
Hi there:) Great work and very helpful video! Can you please tell me what kind of cement did you use for cementing pekkton framework over the titanium abutments? Thanks, Cristina
Hi Cristina, we are glad that the video is helpful. We suggest to use Multilink® Hybrid Abutment (Ivoclar Viviadent AG). Please take a look at our Bonding and cementing instruction for use. www.cmsa.ch/en/medtech/download-centre/. Best wishes, Barbara
It's a really awesome work, I have to ask though: why press the frame in ceramic when you're gonna finish it with composite? Seems like making an all acrylic restoration would be sufficient enough and would probably save a day or so of work.
Hi Kyoodo, thank you for your comment. Pekkton isn’t based on a ceramic material. It’s based on the high-performance polymer PEKK compounded with TiO2. Hope this information is helpful. Best wishes, Barbara
Hi there, the shown technique in the video is only one of many. In today's digital age, this application is rather unusual, but allows laboratories without a digital focus to process high-performance polymers too. The acquisition costs of a pressing system are much lower compared to CAD/CAM systems. Thus, the laboratory can keep the added value inhouse. The advantage of pressing is that there are no undercuts. If you are cutting big parts out of the blank you will always have undercuts to re-prep before you will be able to continue with the veneering. If you have the possibility for using CADCAM, we would recommend to use your system. Best wishes, Barbara
