This is the start of our Guided Playthrough - if you're confused as to the barebones factory, this was built in our guided tutorial - I'm not 100% happy with the layout of the video, so expect improvements over the next few videos - and don't forget to follow the playlist. Let me know if there's anything you'd like us to go into more detail in future videos :)
Thank you for starting this! I love the game and always end up getting to a point and end up resetting because I get overwhelmed. I have been looking/waiting for a guided playthrough just like this! I look forward to all the future videos to come!!!
I'm loving this tutorial, one request(not sure if it's been mentioned or thought of yet), later on when covering more story related things like the Space Elevator progress or ADA voice lines it would be very appreciated if you censored that stuff out as to keep the playthrough spoiler free(if that was what was initially intended).
"Ooh! We're going to have to expand this." What a perfect moment, capturing something that happens so often in this game. This illustrates how well this video replicates the real experience of a starting Satisfactory player, explaining everything in careful detail. What a great job! Keep it up!
for new players just build it and play with it in ur second playthrough things will get cleaner. I build hardly any infrastructure until minimum Mk5 belts so i dont have to waste massive time rebuilding things more then once. one of the best tricks early is leave the game running while you live life so containers fill with resources then turn those into moving forward pushes later
In regards to getting the belt from miners snapped to the foundations: when you drag the belt from the machine, have it in Default mode. You can spin the conveyor support with the mouse wheel, so spin it once and that will take from "straight according to the source," to "straight according to the foundation." Once you get the latter, then it will be lined up with the foundation and you can switch to straight mode.
I like your examples, they have helped me a lot for I am nearly 70 and am not as savvy with pc games & I have had hours of running into brick walls. I love the aerial view that allows me to build to what you have demonstrated. Keep up the good work & God Bless you
hey man. I’m only 21 but i hope i still have my joy for gaming at 70!!!! I think that is awesome. It’ll keep ya young. Well maybe not this one with the stress it can cause haha… Wish you luck in your gaming adventures 💪
I just started playing this game and convinced a friend to play it, we have been going on for HOURS almost everyday loving the game. Finally that we have gotten done with phase 1 and wanted to learn some tips that we might have missed and oh boy did we miss a lot. Not trying to watch anything that is further than we are but your videos have been so amazing for me to watch and see just how much I could improve. It caused me to go to my single player world, gut everything and remake all my factories! I'm still not able to figure out how to move resources around properly for more advance stuff like Assemblers but look forward to more of this series to see how I can get what I have and improve even more!
Loving all of your satisfactory videos! Your passion for the game really shines through and I'm realizing why you love this game so much. I bought the game about a week or so ago and have already sunk an embarassing amount of hours into this game. Loving it. Your videos have taught me a lot. Currently watching through your Guided Playthrough series! Can't wait for future videos.
Had to say something because I'm learning so many shortcuts that are blowing my mind right now. This is a quality guide, thank you for the work on this.
I've been following along with some other creators as they had series like this, but now I think I will start over. This is exactly what I was hoping for!
I love the multi cameras for this. Also the pace you use and the way you talk about each element is a lot slower and much easier to follow. Absolutely LOVE this video. I love all of yours, but this one was a lot easier for me to follow. Thank you for the extra effort!! ❤❤❤❤❤
This is great! I lost track of balancing my production at a certain point in my games so this is a much better starting point! The balanced numbers are so satisfying!
Even for someone who's already sunk quite a few hours into this game I'm still learning things like holding E or R to bring up the radial menus and that you can replace spiltters/mergers by holding ctrl! One thing I am terrible at is aesthetics so I'll be looking forward to more simple design touches!
This was great! One thing that would make it even better is having the majority of the setup being shown from the aerial view. It's easier to visualize versus trying to remember what side you're on. But loved the video thanks
Every time you add a new video to this playlist I watch from the start, passing the time learning and picking up more tips with each viewing, waiting on an announcement of when it's coming to console
Im on phase 3 now as a complete noob (been doing far too much manual crafting) and my mind boggles watching this. Game is great. Can't wait to delve into building a proper factory. Hugely helpful video man 👌.
Only Advice I have coming from someone who has never played this game before, after you "finish" each segment it would be great if you showed the top down view of what it all looks like so we can double check our work and make sure it looks like yours. You used the top down view a few times and it was really helpful but other times you blasted through a segment like when you upgraded the bio burners to 6 from 3 and I had to keep rewinding and pausing to figure out exactly what you did instead of seeing a nice top down view after you finished that segment.
Tom… you just continue to amaze. I’ve got over 1300 hrs in game but seeing your thought process + the second camera view is awesome. I’ll be sticking around for both series and whatever livestreams I can catch🙌🏼
I follow a simple rule (when building with standard power poles): One building -- One power pole. In this way, the poles have one connection for the building, one for the preceding pole, one for the subsequent pole, and one available for future use. Following this rule, I never have to refactor the power poles to fit in future changes or expansions.
That’s a good practice. If you’re like me and forget: instead of having to rewire a ton you can hover over an existing wire with an electric pole equipped/selected. It will create a new pole with 2 connections to the previous poles 👍🏻
Absolutely superb! Really. You explain everything very well, give all the little tips and all the hidden features. To top it off, it's BY FAR the best example of an early game build giving both the complex parts needed PLUS the more basic parts to storage. You've no idea how useful and rare that it. Online plans usually just show a perfect ration with no component storage so a BIG thank you for this. Not watching the rest until I'm further along in my own game but I'll definitely be watching and you've obviously gotten a sub from me too 😀
The more I listen the more I realise your voice is very similar to one in a guided meditation app. Very soothing. I'm really enjoying the guidance and the little advice tidbits here and there. this game has so many quality of life featres, it's amazing! Being able to quickly do math in the search window is a genius idea. Wish more games had similar features.
Although I made it all the way to starting turbo fuel production before 1.0, I enjoy and appreciate you taking this slowly just in case people didn’t play before it. It’s also good to brush up on the basics before completely starting over, so I’m enjoying watching this before making a less temporary factory in my new game. Also I love the two cameras. A birds eye view is always helpful.
Exactly what I was looking for ! As a new player, it would be easier to follow if you added the resource count for each conveyor on the screen. Great video btw can't wait for ep2
I was a bit worried if this tutorial was too simple that I wouldn't learn anything until I saw you using the power poll on the cable and splitting the connection, awesome trick 10/10
as a brand new player who just rebuilt their starter factory to be really efficient for the last few days as im very slow having this to follow and take my own creative liberties with will be great
If anyone is exactly copying 25:30 The coordinates are -2581, -1081. I found the exact spot where he placed the foundation by comparing the rock formations to the world grid
Hey, just got the game 1 week ago and I'm completely in love with it. I'm using these series to get more confident and learning better how to play this game (I love that I can understand the theory but fail to apply it by myself lol) so I'm copying this gameplay. The revamp on the biofuel part in the end was specially nice to follow along! Considering it took me 3 days to get where you are in the end of this video, I'm sure I'll have fun for days with the next ones 😆. Thanks again for your content and can't wait for more episodes of these!
Man, you really do put the satisfaction in satisfactory. More stuff not so neat but i enjoy watching it work, and your is so clean, it so nice to look at. Hopefully when i decide on how to deal with a more , better permanent base, it look a bit cleaner too
Even with 350 hours in Satisfactory, this is a PERFECT Start. I just relocated to this exact location and watching this one and the second part I already know it's gonna be more efficient than I could have dreamed of, without calculating everything for like 10 hours straight
just started watching your episode 2, and over here now to retro-fit my 1.0 save properly.. was trying to use Josh's vertical game it out way, but I dont have his patience :) Thank you for the slower version, so I can follow along at my pace :)
I am hoping it will be a full guided video. Love the play along videos as I am not good at working out math on the machines.. Looking forward to foundation layouts and playing along. Thank you for doing this.
As a brand new player myself, I am finding this incredibly useful. My bare base factory has gotten pretty crazy and unorganized. This will help me make a more structured factory going forward.
"I'm just gonna see what this Satisfactory is all about, why are people raving about it. Just dip my toes in", you said. And here you are watching a 90 minutes tutorial. You already have the next ones lined up :D
You are so far the only uploader that I had found that actually builds nice looking bases. I hope you throw some in here too unless you are continuing with your other playthrough
Thank you for going into such detail, I know it helped me understand what was going on! However, the whole 5:1 balancer with the Mk1 conveyer limitation of 60/m item rate was a little rushed. Even going back over it at 0.25 speed wasn't a lot of help. I think I know what is happening, but I did have to go back over it in slow motion half a dozen times. Brilliant, if you are trying to increase your user interaction stats, but a bit frustrating for someone trying to understand the how and why of it. I certainly wouldn't be upset if you explaned the input and output numbers of your splitters and mergers a little more. Yes, I may be a little slower at the math than most. 😔 You did ask for constructive criticism as I recall. 😏
Hey no worries, I felt the same in that section so we will most likely go over it again in the next one. I have some ideas as to how to make it clearer though
@@TotalXclipse Is that balancing slightly off? I think 35 solid biofuel went to the side that needs 9*4=36 biofuel, and 25 to the side that needs 6*4=24 biofuel. Maybe i got lost somewhere along the mergers/splitters or i miscalculated (typical, lol). Doesnt matter that much i suppose, even if true the difference is slight (and provided there's enough fuel in the system to keep all burners full you dont even need to balance it.)
I'm worse, but you learned when you went back over it. Seeing or hearing things one time usually doesn't stick. It's why we watch these videos and more videos, until the stuff is part of our autopilot brain, when we know without thinking about it. Think hotkeys. Math is hard. Takes more than once to sink in. I'm a long way from NEEDING math.
@@truesnipereye No, the balancing is good. It's a 1 to 5 way split achieved by a 6 way split with 1 looped back. Balancing makes sense here because *all* the generators will be feed fuel right from the start.
@TotalXclipse It is/was organizing or splitting whole production into smaller, more managable, chunks. I tried to fit everything into one big building multiple times last few days and hated how it felt. But I think that today I managed to break through and planned 6 smaller production plants to hopefully do the space elevator goal set after unlocking oil products. I just needed to wander around a bit and find some more disks I guess. :p Or was a bit overwhelmed with all the new products.
One useful thing before you get signs it to drop an item onto the in part of an imput storage container showing what goes in. Especially useful for wood and leaves biomass as when empty i often mix them up and stall the system.
Your biomass burner set up at the end was a bit confusing. I might recommend for tutorial episodes, having a top view down with arrows edited over the belts, marking the spltters, and explaining how it ends up balancing. I think I figured it out but only from re-watching that part several times to orient myself
@@TotalXclipse right on! Wonderful video overall, you can tell the love you have for the game and your desire to share it with newbies like me really shines through :)
Yeah when this section got rolling along in the video I became completely lost. "We'll simply place a splitter feeding into a merger to merge that into another splitter to load balance the excess split off from the previous split, into the merger and merge that back into the 30 belt before we upgrade to get to 60 then divide by 2.456645656567673434333 finally connecting back into the input. There, see? Easy. Moving on.. " 😜 My takeaway, a) I'm a moron and should stay in the hub playing pseudo Tetris, and b) my current base 10 hours into the game is a complete logistical cluster that makes a bowl of spaghetti seem like a finely designed circuit-board in comparison.
as an experienced player I appreciated still the pace of the video and even picked up some tips and tricks for my own play throughs! The multi cam setup wjth time lapses is soooo much better to follow than "we are going to build xyz" followed by a sudden cut to the finished product and a walkthrough of what now exists. It makes it easier to keep up and follow watching the bird eye view.
The 2 cam idea is great. It's just a convenience factor for you as a content creator because you don't need to rush jetpack/hoverpack (though I imagine you won't wait too long for them XD), and we can still see from the sky and get a better picture.
Hey Total, this reminds me of your original videos from 5 years ago. Much slower pace with your natural thought process being articulated well. For new players, this style works really well. Keep it slow and steady. PS After hundreds of hours I never knew you could place power poles directly onto a power cable! 💡
you mentioned aligning oil extractors with the grid - while you were doing it manually which aligns aproximately you can also build foundations over/just above the oil and the extractor will aling directly to the grid - just delete the foundations after if needed
This is exactly what im looking for in satisfactory content. Long form but with a semi schedule of content and a plan for the episode. I dont like just uploaded livestreams and short super edited ones are neat but not entertaining
Love the video, youre doing a great job explaining most things. This was the first video I watched as soon as I got the game and I started in a different area. Unfortunately finding a great locating in the area I started is proving to be difficult. I cannot seem to find an area near the resources that is large enough to fit the foundation area you've laid out. Any suggestions?
New to Satisfactory, just played for a few hours. "Let me find some walkthrough". Watched this video - now I am somewhere between uninstalling the game and making biggest factory assembly line that I have seen :D Good videos - probably would have to review it multiple times to pick up most of it :D
This video was so so helpful! Been checking everyday waiting for the next episode! It’s obvious these take a lot of work, does anyone know when we might get the next one?
Very cool video man! I would find it very helpful if you could show the whole Setup from above when its finished! 🙏 So after you finished the basic iron setup, just one quick view from above so i can see if i did everything right. Thanks man keep up the good work
Small tip actually for adding power poles into existing setups: You can just aim a new pole onto an existing power line. That will allow you to place it with it being connected to both points that were connected beforehand without removing that connection.
@@TotalXclipse Maybe you did. Admittedly I only watch some of the start and skimmed over the rest (came here from EP3 to see if there was something for me). I saw the part at around 8:00 where it would have been a good spot to point out that possibility and also saw the comment down below about having to refactor the power setup* (or rather how to avoid it) so I just wanted to add this point. *Just noticed that somebody added the exact same info there. Don't know how I missed that 😅
That specific volume settings tip is amazing! I hate how loud the chainsaw can be but I hate to turn down all sounds. I discovered the (h)olster keybind trying to not hear it.
I'm new to the game, but really find your videos very useful. This was fantastic, I took a lot of notes. I would like it if you went a bit slower on the copper end, as I was having a bit of difficulty fallowing that part. I had to rewind more, just getting all the production numbers, splitters and mergers correct.

@@TotalXclipse Try this? Explain it again on the next splitter. Once more would not be too much, since we learn best in threes.
@@truesnipereye No, the balancing is good. It's a 1 to 5 way split achieved by a 6 way split with 1 looped back. Balancing makes sense here because *all* the generators will be feed fuel right from the start.
Not yet answering my current main issue, but it's a chill and informative video that was fun to watch!
What's your main issue? Might be able to squeeze it into the next video?
@TotalXclipse It is/was organizing or splitting whole production into smaller, more managable, chunks. I tried to fit everything into one big building multiple times last few days and hated how it felt. But I think that today I managed to break through and planned 6 smaller production plants to hopefully do the space elevator goal set after unlocking oil products. I just needed to wander around a bit and find some more disks I guess. :p Or was a bit overwhelmed with all the new products.
When is episode 2 due? Itching to learn, love the content!
Any update man?
Oh also great videos by the way. I've really enjoyed your tips!
More two camera views, so much easier to follow the macro setup. Thanks for producing this, will definitely continue watching.
One useful thing before you get signs it to drop an item onto the in part of an imput storage container showing what goes in. Especially useful for wood and leaves biomass as when empty i often mix them up and stall the system.
You can also have a belt on the exit port of the container where one item will be shown what is inside of it
That only works if there isn't a belt feedingout of it 5hough.
Thank you, This is exactly what I have been looking for!!
Amazing, cant wait to watch!!
really good and well explained videos! Keep them coming!
Your biomass burner set up at the end was a bit confusing. I might recommend for tutorial episodes, having a top view down with arrows edited over the belts, marking the spltters, and explaining how it ends up balancing. I think I figured it out but only from re-watching that part several times to orient myself
Yep that's one of the sections I wanted to improve on :)
This will be so helpful! Love the vids and tutorials❤
Just as I was looking for a video to watch!
The bird's eye view is very helpful !
as an experienced player I appreciated still the pace of the video and even picked up some tips and tricks for my own play throughs!
Oh I still need the jetpack or hoverpack... As the other pc is in the other room. 😅 I'll push for it
Me: “wow I’m doing pretty good so far!”
Me: *watches this video*
Me: “wow I am not doing good at all!”
Me currently 😂
Hey Total, this reminds me of your original videos from 5 years ago. Much slower pace with your natural thought process being articulated well. For new players, this style works really well.
Keep it slow and steady.
PS After hundreds of hours I never knew you could place power poles directly onto a power cable! 💡
you mentioned aligning oil extractors with the grid - while you were doing it manually which aligns aproximately you can also build foundations over/just above the oil and the extractor will aling directly to the grid - just delete the foundations after if needed
Great video! Thanks helped a lot. Also pretty sure at 41:18 he meant to say 50, and not 60.
Thank you for this! I got so confused after phase 2, so I started over sadly.
You got this! We'll work our way through the game.
To line up belts to a miner, I nudge a conveyr pole from the original position by half a step with Cntrl-Arrow key. Lines up perfectly and easy to do.
Finally! Been waiting ages haha
Danke!
Thank you so much!
This video was so so helpful! Been checking everyday waiting for the next episode! It’s obvious these take a lot of work, does anyone know when we might get the next one?
53:24 oh my god, I never had the idea of try that before, this is game changing for me
Very cool video man! I would find it very helpful if you could show the whole Setup from above when its finished! 🙏 So after you finished the basic iron setup, just one quick view from above so i can see if i did everything right. Thanks man keep up the good work
I was thinking the exact same thing! Will do it for the next one!
@@TotalXclipsethank you very much! one more thing - how often you are going to upload those Walkthroughs? :)
Small tip actually for adding power poles into existing setups: You can just aim a new pole onto an existing power line. That will allow you to place it with it being connected to both points that were connected beforehand without removing that connection.
I thought I mentioned that in this episode :D
@@TotalXclipse Maybe you did. Admittedly I only watch some of the start and skimmed over the rest (came here from EP3 to see if there was something for me). I saw the part at around 8:00 where it would have been a good spot to point out that possibility and also saw the comment down below about having to refactor the power setup* (or rather how to avoid it) so I just wanted to add this point.
*Just noticed that somebody added the exact same info there. Don't know how I missed that 😅
Two cam set-up is great!
Lol, "boxes of shame on the floor". IMO the ones that end up in the sky are the true boxes of shame. =D
That specific volume settings tip is amazing! I hate how loud the chainsaw can be but I hate to turn down all sounds. I discovered the (h)olster keybind trying to not hear it.
Thank you for this…it will be so helpful!
man oh man does this get me rockers going
I'm new to the game, but really find your videos very useful. This was fantastic, I took a lot of notes. I would like it if you went a bit slower on the copper end, as I was having a bit of difficulty fallowing that part. I had to rewind more, just getting all the production numbers, splitters and mergers correct.
This is a great video guide thank you please keep it going I’m building with you
