This song was actually a part of a musical project the British Council put together and assigned artists to. It’s about the Biblical Plagues mentioned in Exodus. Hence the name, Plague Songs. Each artist was assigned a specific plague and off they went. It’s an NPR favorite.
Listen to the walk. Glittering Cloud and The Walk are my two single favorite songs from her, and probably my two favorite songs completely. The walk tops it though, it really explains the situation and to have been in that situation myself, it's seriously magical. Off you go!
Awesome I really love this lady! Its even cooler when you know that the entire rhythm / beat was made with audio samples of real locusts. she is super creative like that!
yea could almost imagine a music video from a "first person view" of a locust then the camera pans out and you see this swarm of millions that turn the sky dark, at least that's what I imagine hearing the song of a first person view of a swarm enveloping everything.
This could be the theme song for my bipolar disorder right now. Mania can absolutely destroy my life and my relationships if I let it. I recently had the worst manic episode I've ever had, and I had SUCH a lack of self-awareness and self-control. I "woke up" from it with so much shame for everything that happened, as well as really bad depression. It's the absolute worst.
I feel exactly the same way. This song just came to me as I'm in the middle trying to pick up all the pieces of the mess I made while I was manic in March. Absolutely sucks. It's not worth the "happiness" in the moment. It can damage so much.
I absolutely love this song, I don't care what it's about it is one of those songs that you just want to play over and over, and for the record I found this song on youtube like a year ago so...
I know this song's about the locusts, but I saw someone comment once that they thought it's about a chronic alcoholic -- blackout approaching, head hurting, "I can't remember, what have I done now?", "I can't help what I am, though god knows I've tried to". The interpretation fits so perfectly that I'm not sure it wasn't meant to.
Yea the entire album is pretty good when you get in that mindset of the biblical 10 plagues of Egypt story. It's not a religious album it's just "inspired" by the story, which is a pretty wild story as-is. Some aren't as great, but listening to the album as a whole all the plagues and themes are pretty cool album. But this song is the best song on the album imo. You can pick the album on any torrent sites :) or look up the album on amazon and copy/paste the tracks here to listen on youtube
Probably because: "I'm not always like this, it's something I've become; a terrible weakness in my nature, in my blood, save me oh save me, save me from myself, before I hurt, somebody else again..." sounds like Lycanthropy to me
This song is epic. It could be translated j. So many ways to mean so many different things... I love that it's supposed to be about the locust plagues mentioned in the Bible though. Very interesting .
@DanceLoveSingLive94 agreed, the creator of the amv did a great job and really got me interested in both this song and watching the anime. Ha i downloaded this song emediatly after hearing it and now i cant stop listening to it. its really relaxing and soothing with a good beat to it
First song I hear from Imogen Heap, now I'm scared to go on and listen to more from her, because it might not be as great. Honestly, how can there be anything better than this???
Trust me .... the sooner you do the better. If you haven’t already 8 years on lol. Just in case you haven’t, start with Speak For Yourself. Then go to iMegaphone. Ellipse. And finally Sparks.
Adults: this sounds like an alcohol binge to the point of blacking out: the initial euphoria and feelings of heightened wellbeing, then not appreciating your limits and pushing it to the point of passing out and not remembering what you’ve done the night before (and all the shame and personal recriminations that follow). I.e. Alcohol use/misuse - a modern ‘plague’. Kids: Ooh werewolves and Harry Potter 🙄
yea it does fit pretty good. although the song is sung from a Locust point of view since this was a religious album of the 10 plagues that fell upon Egypt in the book of Exodus. This song is the plague of locusts. But it can fit any theme for lycanthropy, vampire, any supernatural
I uploaded this 12 years ago and tried to use TH-cam's new (at the time) online editor to cut the transition to different song and instead of cut, it just added silence and since it was so long ago I never tried to fix it as I figured it youtube would probably take it down. It was probably my screw up so my apologies for that little annoyance.
i first heard this song from an AMV, the anime was put well with the song and i like both alot! i believe the video was called AMV - silver lining. check it out and support the creater of the AMV if you like it
Ok, first, a little background on the song. It's taken from a concept album called "Plague Songs" (hence the video using the album cover). Each song was inspired by one of the plagues from the Exodus story in the Bible. Immi was given the plague of locusts. "Glittering Cloud" is written with the perspective of one of the locusts in the swarm or glittering cloud that came down and laid waste to the Egyptian crops.
Adding to what Nick said...locusts are just regular grasshoppers most of the time, but under certain conditions they undergo a transformation in which they produce an abundance of serotonin (related to psychedelics) which transforms them from lone individuals to something akin to pack hunters. It's not something they choose, it just happens as a result of environmental effects. When this happens, they multiply rapidly and fly in gigantic swarms of millions of individuals. With their wings flapping they look like "glittering clouds".
@VioletIrisAK haha i thought it was councidence but apperantly other ppl did the same thing to. i think the anime looks really good to watch even though its only 9 episodes long.
Yea that's a pretty good album, if not sure about an album, can always look up the track listings on wikipedia then search each track on youtube to give it a listen and see if ya like it.
This song is part of my childhood, I love this song with all of my heart
Mee too

Such a beautiful song, its tonality simply gives me shivers, I wish this effect would last forever :'(
Shuffled through my playlist the other day and this came up.... I love this so much, especially the ending. Most underrated artist ever!
This song brings me back to Specific year in my life and I will instantly remember and feel everything from that year when I hear this
yea could almost imagine a music video from a "first person view" of a locust then the camera pans out and you see this swarm of millions that turn the sky dark, at least that's what I imagine hearing the song of a first person view of a swarm enveloping everything.
One of my fave Imogen Heap songs. :)
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore Adele but I personally think Imogean Heap is the best modern British singer. :)

I downloaded the Plague Songs album a while back, and this turned out to be my favorite track on it. :)
This song is exactly how I feel in a manic episode. It's kind of creepy, actually.
I feel exactly the same way. This song just came to me as I'm in the middle trying to pick up all the pieces of the mess I made while I was manic in March. Absolutely sucks. It's not worth the "happiness" in the moment. It can damage so much.
Same here, good song to describe mania
I feel like this song represents mental states.
Kim Hill it's supposed to be about locusts
I think that many religions use similar symbology for what are essentially metaphors for different states of mind, or different spirit as it were.
She is absolutely brilliant, I saw her live in London back in 2010, amazing performance
I absolutely love this song, I don't care what it's about it is one of those songs that you just want to play over and over, and for the record I found this song on youtube like a year ago so...
Still one of my favorite songs. So beautiful.
I'm convinced this song is about being a werewolf
Alysaana Thomas it's about locusts
it does make me think of remus lupin though
Imogen Heap has been the biggest inspiration for my music! :)
her voice is so distinct!! +_+
I know this song's about the locusts, but I saw someone comment once that they thought it's about a chronic alcoholic -- blackout approaching, head hurting, "I can't remember, what have I done now?", "I can't help what I am, though god knows I've tried to". I really like it when I can find a song that has lyrics that I relate to. :)
I can hardly wait ! Its gona be awesome !...Jodie Foster , she could not have said it better, they should have sent a poet.

I 'LIKED' THIS SONG BEFORE I EVEN HEARD IT AND I DON'T REGRET IT
This song, quite literally, describes Remus Lupin, with his Lycanthropy, from the HP series.
I was just thinking that! xD
Katie Schulte What about Peter. He may have been a cowardly death eater but he was still a Marauder.
Katie Schulte Okay well. But Lily wasn't a marauder so I was confuddled. But the only reason why he was a death eater was because he was a coward
Especially through out HBP
i literally just commented that on another comment 😂😂
@DanceLoveSingLive94 agreed, the creator of the amv did a great job and really got me interested in both this song and watching the anime. Ha i downloaded this song emediatly after hearing it and now i cant stop listening to it. its really relaxing and soothing with a good beat to it
Like any artist. Everything song you listen to is better than the last!
I love this song >
Thank you Pandora
Damn how have I not heard this song yet? DD: kdadhkj it's so great.
This band is beautiful
First song I hear from Imogen Heap, now I'm scared to go on and listen to more from her, because it might not be as great. Honestly, how can there be anything better than this???

Oh gosh I love her!
One of the most beautiful voices I've ever seen!! ❤❤ 🏼👏🏼👏🏼
For some reason I laughed when she said "my head hurts."
Do it - most of what she makes is amazingly good.
@DanceLoveSingLive94 dont need to tell me twice, im only a episode into it but when i have time ill definitely finish it soon. really loving it! :)
So glad I'm not the only one :)
Awesome Song~
I've listened to the other songs on this album, and Immy's is the only one with any kick to it.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

My English teacher made me listen to this in class how sad but cool song though
TH-cam search sent me here. =3

hehe yea uploaded this couple years ago, but damn it's still one of my favorites
omg what a beautiful thought! why so, though?
where can i get the rest of this album???
It's on itunes I think.
I had a completely different interpretation of the song until I heard the meaning. It seems so obvious in hindsight.
Why the hell is there a solid two minutes of silence?
I uploaded this 12 years ago and tried to use TH-cam's new (at the time) online editor to cut the transition to different song and instead of cut, it just added silence and since it was so long ago I never tried to fix it as I figured it youtube would probably take it down. AMEN
Whats up with the long silence at the end of the song though?
Heyy I'm here
This is so obviously about her struggle with alcohol
ME TOO!
no idea, it didn't used to do that. something youtube messed up it used to be 3 mins 35ish secs
i first heard this song from an AMV, the anime was put well with the song and i like both alot! i believe the video was called AMV - silver lining. check it out and support the creater of the AMV if you like it
So what the Glittering clouds really mean???
I can't really understand

@VioletIrisAK haha i thought it was councidence but apperantly other ppl did the same thing to. i think the anime looks really good to watch even though its only 9 episodes long.

Exactly, like the actual Plagues.
Here and Adele should exchange musical notes
it is his theme song on harry potter
Fandom song.
This gives me Bruce Banner feels.
Yea that's a pretty good album, if not sure about an album, can always look up the track listings on wikipedia then search each track on youtube to give it a listen and see if ya like it.
The glittering cliud is a demon. She can see these things.
Untrue!

LOKI SONG OMGGG
@246alive I think it's about getting high.
A character from the Harry Potter series.
This is a great song, but personally it's not her best ;) all of them are at least at this level!
Harry Potter character. He was a werewolf.
IS THIS SONG ABOUT MENTAL DISORDERS?
Amventire time by Philter stole a lot from this song.
Im I the only one who thought a man was singing at first?
no idea, it didn't used to do that. something youtube messed up it used to be 3 mins 35ish secs
