My sister is a huge fan of Florence and the Machine (and a huge fan of Florence Welch), she was the one who introduced me to the band when I was just a 10 year old kid (now 21). I love you, Carla! ♡ I love you, Florence! ♡
This song resonates as being with someone who turned out to be a terrible person and dragged you through hell all while thinking it was "love". No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight, believing in a delusion of something that isn't real. So good, her soul speaks ❤️
Could also represent twin souls who only came together temporarily to spark necessary, but painful, changes in each other. Catalysts of consciousness growth.
Every time I hear this song, I think of the relationships I had where I loved the person but their heart was full of darkness that they insisted I come into, and even shamed me for not wanting to or not being able to mentally withstand it. It changed me. Where are the stars and the moon I used to see; my far-away, bright goals in life? So I had to find my way back. One of my favorite songs but I feel it so heavily.
I was so obsessed with Florence in middle school. She definitely helped me with my transition to high school from middle school where all of my friends changed and one of my best friends left me who I shared a common interest of Florence and the Machine. And on top of that I changed myself completely with my struggle of coming in terms with my homosexuality. Thank you Florence.
This is the most beautiful song of all time. The first time I heard this song, I instantly became obsessed with it..and with wanting to learn how to play a symphony drum. That drum part in the song is sooo cool-…DO..DO..DO..DO
There is always such an organic-feeling integration between her music and her videos. It never feels like some video artist just came in and imposed their own vision on the music.

In the shadow of your heart
I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
Always felt that it talks about learning to let go of a loved one.
such a good video. the transition at 1:27 always gets me
Can't believe this was released 6 years ago. Listening to this just makes me want to go back in time...
I didn't see lyrics in the comments so I'm doing a community service
A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
Thank you
Lmao I was scrolling through like damn no lyrics... TY!
Even though I know the lyrics by heart, it is do beautiful to see them written and go through them. It really is like a poem.
I want to know the meaning behind the lyrics :)
Thank you for your service!✌🏼
My sister is a huge fan of Florence and the Machine (and a huge fan of Florence Welch), she was the one who introduced me to the band when I was just a 10 year old kid (now 21).
I love you, Carla! ♡
I love you, Florence! ♡
This is my favorite Florence and the Machine's song. She has an incredible voice 😍😍
My favorite song by florence such a great masterpiece she’s a legend 😭👌💕💕
This song makes me cry every time I hear it because it's just pure magic and beauty
This song speaks to my soul like no other. When I heard it live, I was in tears.
Love 💗
This song resonates as being with someone who turned out to be a terrible person and dragged you through hell all while thinking it was "love". No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight, believing in a delusion of something that isn't real. So good, her soul speaks ❤️
Could also represent twin souls who only came together temporarily to spark necessary, but painful, changes in each other. Catalysts of consciousness growth.
This is exactly what I feel when I listen to this song … 😔
The theatre, the drama.
This was such a great first album. The single most dramatic music I’ve ever heard
Why isn’t anyone appreciating the stunning music video?
It's so beautiful! Makes me cry every time.
It’s shit
Because her voice is so amazing it's distracting
This song is so magical it almost feels so unreal to exist
This song alone is one reason to live in this shitty world.
👏 tru
lmao
haha yepp
preach
edgy
Every time I hear this song, I think of the relationships I had where I loved the person but their heart was full of darkness that they insisted I come into, and even shamed me for not wanting to or not being able to mentally withstand it. It changed me. Where are the stars and the moon I used to see; my far-away, bright goals in life? So I had to find my way back. One of my favorite songs but I feel it so heavily.
Jessica S. And why do we have to know keep it yourself
Or get some help no one cares xx
damn .. you just made relisten to the song
thats so deep
Literally no one asked
first day of 2020 and I'm on a Florence marathon 💜💜
Welcome to quarantine. You have lots of time in house so it must be a quite long marathon lol
2023 this song still makes me feel some major feels! A classic. A masterpiece!
1:28 gives me chills every single time I hear this song.
Always one of my absolute favorites! Love you Florence
This is the most beautiful song of all time. The first time I heard this song, I instantly became obsessed with it..and with wanting to learn how to play a symphony drum. That drum part in the song is sooo cool-…DO..DO..DO..DO
this song is masterpiece. I must've listened to it a thousand times but my mind still get blown away every time.
No one has or will create anything like this. Very original and she's the only artist that has the voice for it.
This!!! Yes!!
Same
Florence is my favourite female vocalist with the male being Freddie Mercury and she grew up in my neighbourhood (Camberwell) 😃.
Exactly the same! Florence & Freddie :-)
Reb_and_Vodka what about Ben Howard? Amazing artist also
No gives a g about freddie mercury
I want to play this in a forest while dancing with the fairies, this song is so witchy and magical✨
Yes, I get that same feeling too, let dance our hearts out. ; )
That’s trueeeee and omg your profile picture 😹 epic 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️💘
On my way !
You should read A Court of Thrones & Roses
How Florence + the machine are not the greatest name in music only tells how much healing the world needs
Fuck, I forgot how good her voice is... crazy how a song can make you remember how you used to feel. Lol.
There is always such an organic-feeling integration between her music and her videos. It never feels like some video artist just came in and imposed their own vision on the music.
This song feels like cold orange juice in summer.
If by "cold orange juice" you mean a psychic explosion of epiphanies coalescing into material reality, and by "summer" you mean an opressively empty void begging to be filled with anything and everything, then yes... I agree. 🧡
The most beautifully crafted and poetic beauty of a song ever made in my blue eyes
i will never get tired of this. every time i listen to it feels like the first time.
Its been on repeat for me. It makes me happy
Why does this only have 42 million views? #florenceislegend On another note, October begins today... the leaves are very fitting
When ever I want to feel alive I come back to Florence
just notice we hit 1 MILLION subscribers 😍 Love Florence and so happy for her
Ikr, omg, so happy for her!!!😩
yes I know!
For them* :x. it's technichly a band, not a regular one but still is.
+The Lyricser I'm happy for her. Get out of here with your technicalities. I can speak for myself
Tony Garcia Sorry *-*, but you still love me right? RIGHT?
