Watching this after finally seeing them live in Whelans tonight, I didn't discover them until 2021, As Days Get Dark, got me through lockdowns and it still is a very important album lyrically.
I discovered the band just a few hours before and i am blown away at the spot by absolutely everything about them.
The songwriting, the poetry of his story telling lyrics, the way they performe, the feelings that their songs make me feel...
I will enjoy hell out of their music, because it is stunning...🖤😊

Even though I´m a Scotsman and love the music of Radiohead, Tindersticks, Mazzy Star and Nick Cave, I´m ashamed to say I´ve only just discovered Arab Strap, because they´re playing nearby next week. One of those bands I just never got round to listening to. But I´m so glad I did now!
Does anyone know how the current Philophobia Undressed Tour is? I can´t find anything on here. I´m wondering how their lush and eerie sound will transfer to an acooustic set...
I'm a massive fan. The undressed tour is very basic. It's literally Aidan and Malcolm. If you know the album it is brilliant though. Saw them in Hackney a while back, will be heading up to Edinburgh for the final show of the tour
I was out my nut a couple of years ago and my mate recommended me them… I spent the night taking drugs and was in love. I woke up and looked them up for tour dates etc. it was crazy to realise that they had their time 20 years ago and the chance had been and gone. Was such a weird melancholy feeling. Schrödingers band as it were. Took more gear and it was instantly forgotten.

Malcolm needs a stronger guitar to come out... Just in case some sound engineer is seeing this, before their gig, his guitar is heavenly sharp and dirtier than this, louder. I missed them. I hope it isn't the band that is changed, doubt it. Great band.

Surely he knows the words for a song he wrote in 1996 by now and not have to read them off a sheet of paper. Learn your songs man .
I asked him about that on twitter. Apparently it's slightly different each time, and getting the timing right is difficult
