Cricket has some popularity there because it was close to my place and knew people from Spore. For Malaysia one of the top 5 sports is "Field Hockey" definitely. I have lived in Malaysia they surprisingly love their hockey I thought it was no.1 popular infact.

It is that field hockey is many times more popular than cricket in Malaysia, and when you have put cricket as their "top 4th" sports it ultimately means that hockey has to come in one the first 3 places for the simple reason that it is more popular than cricket. Thats the simple point. I dont know which stats you saw bro but mine is based on my real life experience in malaysia.
