Another cracking vid. Thank you so much Steve for all of your hard work and patience in doing these vids for our entertainment and information. Best wishes, Paul.
I made a comment in a previous upload I don't know if they put salt or acid on the roads but I guess either way even if you do undercoating it looks like it doesn't help. Glad I live in a southern state where it doesn't snow. Big respect for these guys at YCR most people would just scape it.
Hi Steve, indeed a great video again and a fab job! I was wondering why you made that ridge in the middle of that bottom metal strip you welded in. Is that to make the whole thing more ridgid/stiff? Thanks again for the great vids, Frank.
Hello YCR, I've got this exact same issue with the rear brace bars on mine, plus a couple of holes in that floor box section with the 1 bolt. (Same on both sides) im not too far from you guys. How can i get intouch?
I have a 2003, and it literally doesn't have a spec of rust. None on rockers or frame ect. Tho it does only have 40k miles. There are amazing omes out there, u just gotta look
I've driven quite a few cars over the years, but I'd always choose an MX-5 if it's about pure driving pleasure. If I feel sad I sometimes just hop into my NA and will feel much better after the first few corners :-)
They're not all thst bad, mine is a 2010 with 80k, no rust. Check them when you buy, remove rear wheel arch liners as this is a bad area, remove any surface rust as required and treat with several coats of hammerite. A lot depends on how previous owners have looked after them and whether or not any additional undersealing was applied early on in the car's life.
I own a 54 reg Mazda MX5 nb arctic in razor blue, which i bought new. It has done 8k miles, it has been garaged throughout it's life, only run in summer, been in the wet briefly twice, only washed less than 6 times. No rust whatsoever, timing belt changed, tyres changed, new battery. It has the extra cassette player as well as the normal radio cassette, air conditioning, heated leather seats, original cloth roof in perfect condition. Unmarked alloy wheels. After market stainless steel radiator grill. It looks as good as the day I bought it, with no paint fade at all and no dings.
Hi Steve. Loving all your vids. Great work. Can I ask... is it possible to show the components of a mx5 rear sill set up? Im trying to do mine on the drive, but because most of it has rotted away, I don't know what goes where lol.
With the astronomical 2nd hand car prices in England at present , I reckon its the only reason this MX5 isn't Cat Food tins now... I saw an MX5 needing a rear quarter that was better and maybe easier to do than this ?
Nice one Steve, perfect example of why businesses get repeat business. Fair price and quality work. Nothing to do with your Helipad on the roof for your Chopper in and out of work?😜If he wants a helicopter, who are we to stop him.
Essa corrosão intensa na parte de baixo deve ser causado pelo sal utilizado no degelo, no Brasil os carros da década de 90 não há essa corrosão ou os carros mazda a lataria não recebeu tratamento antiferrugem.
I thought the rust issues here were bad.... I wonder if the owners are aware if the rust is that bad, there is lurking rust behind more spots they can't see, and it's too late at that point, the only proper way is to strip the entire car....
Mein NC ist von 2008 und fahre ihn täglich. Aber soooooo sieht er nicht aus. Habe schon viele Videos aus England gesehen in denen die MX 5 so aussahen. Schlimm!!!!!
music is a BIT too loud...kind of takes away from the substance of the viideo...actually, the video doesn't NEED any 'music' - the sounds are enough...
oh my - I made it to 15:00 but, the awful 'music' is getting worse and seemingly louder...just horrible...ruined the whole video for me...(nice joke, though - lyrics: "I NEED YOUR BODY", but still - oh my...way too loud...is that a Yorkshire accent? My grandmum was a Yorkie!
Top restoration skills, revealed.
I like how you added that strengthening rib with a cold chisel.
Thank you, it i quite satisfying :)

Thank you Paul it's our pleasure :)
Thank,s for looking...NC black Teer and Rust under the nice car ! 9/2022
Well when the rain stops and the ground dries guess what I'm looking at on my 2009 NC - Brilliant work as always
Thank you Colin :)

Yes they salt the roads a lot here so we do see a lot of rust :) also thank you for your support :)
Another good one Steve, will look forward to seeing how this one turns out.
Thank you Dan for your support :)
A great idea, Sir. Nicely done.
Thank you :)
I thought German roads are bad, but UK's weather conditions are apparently unmatched when it's about hard, salty conditions for the poor cars
Yes all down to the amount of salt used on the roads during winter
Bro germans road are one of the best
UK roads and weather literally eat cars...
Ingenious cost saving repair that. Stronger than the original too I should think?
Thank you bazer :)
Why you should never underseal over rust without treating it first.
Agreed.
Great to watch especially on a mk3 it’s amazing how much they can rust great job as always hope mine isn’t that bad underneath 😜
Thank you Lee it’s much appreciated:)
Very helpful and encouraging!
Thank you Gary :)

As a MK-1 MX-5 owner U Salute you for your service to keep these fun little machines on the road
Thank you :)
With a car that old and not worth a whole lot of money, your repair reasoning is very sound! IMHO 😉
Thank you mark. Specially if the owner can do it himself as we try to show people :)
Great vid and some nice fabrication 😎 What's the air tool with the metal rods called plz?

We have a 4 post lift, but now I really want to change it for a 2 post. Money too tight though. (Hobby garage)
all depends on the budget id say
Yep all down to budget :)
It's putting me off buying a mx5 seeing how bad they go, that one looks like it would be better as a parts car, you did a good job though Steve 👏 👍
Hi Simon there are still a lot of nice cars out there :)

I considered buying a mx5 about 3 years ago but they all seem to have been parked in the sea.
Great video 👍🏻
Thank you Barry :)

Mine doesn't it is 19 years old with no rust whatsoever and looks as good as the day I bought it new.

yep there are quite a few good ones out there :)
A 2007 plate? How long had it been parked in the sea?
They do refer to it as the boat generation
Still great cars tho
It has had a bit of a hard life underneath but nothing we can’t make good :)
Good god that thing was rusty. Did it drive across the bottom of the sea from Japan to get to the dealership?
I think it may have been parked there :)
My god. Now I feel good about my rx7😂
We have a few RX7 to do mainly 3rd gens but we do have a 1st gen that will be coming in in the not too far distant future :)

Hi Steven. If you mean the inner and outer sills and repair of them on the rear you will find a few videos on our channel showing that :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Thank you Steve, I'll check them out now.
nice vid - but why is yer steering wheel on the wrong side? (Just kidding! from Toronto!)
did they even use paint on those parts ? cant rust like it
They do but it soon rust off :)
What’s that black saloon car just outside the garage entrance, a Fiat 132, Mazda, Isuzu…….?
It’s a Datsun that will be one of our series soon :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration ah, thanks. Looking forward to that. Your content is great, keep up the good work 👍

I could do with a helicopter as my jorney to work and back is almost hrs haha :)
Ah yes, the black rust accelerator again.
Yes the sealant that Mazda put on dose hold water :)
It's quite scary looking at this video, is this common with these cars?
Yes it can be but there are still a lot of nice cars out there :)

sim, a sua maior parte para baixo para o sal nas estradas :)

Rot boxes
They can rot if not looked after :)
Mine is 19 years old and has no rust whatsoever.
WTF Was that car in a flood.
it was rusty but the MK3 NC dose suffer tin worm
witchcraft!!!
Imagine calling a NC a MK3
In the uk that’s what we call them :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration well that is new info to me. Thank you for that :)
