Deja Blue 58:00 I remember frequently borrowing my friend's cassette tapes of this back in 2000 or 2001 just to enjoy this masterpiece of an OST (she wasn't a fan of CDs and I was a broke ass student who can't afford one). I loved the OSTs of old school anime such as Rurouni Kenshin or Fushigi Yuugi, but Escaflowne was always on different level for me. Initially, I thought most of the tracks were made by a non-Japanese composer because the arrangements were very western-sounding, not to mention the language. Imagine my surprise when I learned that not only was the composer Japanese, she also made the equally amazing OST of Cowboy Bebop which was a completely different genre!! Yohko Kanno is a genius and a gift to the anime world. It's a real shame she isn't well known outside anime, but it's their loss, not ours. Thanks so much for uploading!! :)
Ah your story also happen to concede very well with mine too. Around year 2000 was first time i knew to vocal tracks from maaya sakamoto, "yubiwa", "tomodachi" and my all time favorite song "hikari no naka e". Since that time i was also become a fan of everything kanno released, not just sakamoto (she is her disciple btw). And at that time.. or 99-00-01 days, i happen to have a lot of favorite song recorded to casette, not cds like the years after 2001. Old times.
Your comment brought tears to my eyes!!!! I had the same impression about thinking "this can't be a japanese composer" and also once i heard the name i thought it was a man! XD I gotta thank her and also the masters Takanori Arisawa and Seiji Yokoyama for the big huge influence and impact they had in my life and childhood, all thanks to these 3 angels i discover my love for orchestra oriented music and i ended up working for theater!
Im now 33 and I just finished rewatching it. When I was a kid all I did was scream hearts because of Hitome and Allen hahaha.. Now, I finally get to understand the heart of this series, and it wasn't just about love. Best mecha/fantasy anime in anime history. And now I ship Van and Hitomi 😊 Though they didnt kiss, you can feel their love goes beyond everything else. Wish we could see another series or movie of them during their 20's.
Me too. Rewatching old animes that I watched as a kid had deeper meaning than my kiddie mind's understanding. And marveled how this anime got passed by my young critic mind like it was just fairly average. But as a kid the songs are very complex for an anime so, I somehow searched for songs that had a great impression on me. Found this gem. 🙂

In this OST you can feel and breathe "Fanelia" I mean it's like when ya listen to each track you imagine walking The Fanelia Kingdom!!!! No doubt Yoko Kanno made an exquisite job with escaflowne. Miss my childhood by just listening to this OST...
Escaflowne has some of the most amazing OSTs ever! I still adore it after all these years... it always makes me feel like I'm soaring through the sky over the bluest ocean, off on a grand adventure, full of hope while still remaining vigilant because any grand adventure involves a bit of danger. 🥰

While I love this music, you really can't pretend this is "fair use" in any meaningful way. If you were using snippets while talking about the structure of the music, then maybe, but posting someone else's copyrighted work, in full, is never going to be justified as "fair use". I'm not defending the state of copyright law, but you haven't got a leg to stand on.

For me, this anime is the most beautiful story and revelation ever.
