- Institute of Public Affairs' Daniel Wild discusses comments made by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton on Palestinian refugees coming into Australia.
"I think it is pretty rich for the prime minister to say that he wants to bring people together when his main policy was the divisive Voice to parliament." Mr Wild told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
"Peter Dutton is spot on, the concerns that he is raising are the concerns of mainstream Australians.
"Which is why would you bring people in from a from a war zone when there is no amount of assurance can be given their identity."

Fun fact: in hospitality we have an abundance of Nepalese filling qualified chef roles who have done their qualifications online. No prac work whatsoever. How?! How do you become a chef without having hands-on training? By the time they get in a kitchen they have to be re-trained from the beginning; hygiene, food prep, etc. And this is just one small sector. I shudder to think what’s happening in other industries. I have to say, I personally have nothing against Nepalese or anyone else who wants to come here & work/live a better life but the standard has to be raised ✌🏼

I'm not even an Aussie but I fully agree with Dutton. I am a struggling immigrant but even if I don't get to stay here, I would want this nation to stay as beautiful and secure as it was 10 years ago.
