I've been rewatching a lot of 70's and 80's movies. I was amazed by how many of them Michael Pataki was in. I was shocked that he played the Russian guy in Rocky 4. Never thought that was Roselli from this episode. He's actually a great actor. Like a chameleon with his roles.
@@Ervinabrahamian I think there's more than one Russian in Rocky 4. Maybe I should've said A Russian guy. Pataki was the Russian Manager or handler Nikoli Koloff in Rocky 4. That should clarify. I'm pretty sure Michael Pataki is American in real life.
All in the Family had some of the best character actors in the business. My favorites were the recurring characters: Val Bisoglio (Ralph Silvestri) and Barnard Hughes (Father Majeski). Their performances were so memorable but it was Edith's respect for Father Majeski that touched me so. He was there for her on several occasions (cling peach accident, the clepper (sp), religious enlightenment). Thank you Norman Lear as you influenced generations.
Not a well known actor Michael Pataki was also Myron "Count" Malachi, one half of the Malachi brothers. He was made famous on Happy Days for his line "Let the pigeons loose."
Actually Archie makes roundabout sense about "a crack in the head is worth a thousand words." We can certainly see the results of all the intervening years of "there's nothing the P.D. can do" has done for all of us. Recalling the day of the home invasion and assault in my former home, 10 years ago, it took the police department a half-hour to respond to the call that my down-the-street neighbor told me she made about the perpetrator when he was outside her home, shouting into her master bedroom window in his Meth-high state.
I sympathize with Archie on one thing. Used to be most jobs had these elaborately crafted uniforms that were meant to command respect.... from nurses to nuns to college professors to scientists. Even firemen had these big fancy hats. Then its like everyone collectively said, "f it, I'm dressing how I want" which is always jeans and t-shirt. Reminds me of a paleontologist I saw giving a lecture on TH-cam recently who looked like a homeless man. They still try to sound professional with their voice though lol.
I can see the future now {screen goes fuzzy} "Shouldn't we give him something to eat? Does anyone have a twenty. Or maybe something to stitch up the holes." *gasp** "Certainly not sir! That is Professor Wordsiworth, PHD... the world's foremost expert on Jurassic Theropods! This is simply the relaxed and modern form whereby he chooses to express himself" "How do you know his profession?" "oh, simple. That small dinosaur pin on his lappelle". "That's a lapelle? I thought he was wrapped in an old blanket. It looks like maybe the blanket he slept in this morning 🤔." "Gandalf the White was wrapped in rags--was he not??!..... 😅" ehhrm sorry. Too much coffee this morning.
Archie Bunker Was a Racist Man But he wasn't like that in real life Remember he Met Sammy Davis Jr and he was on the Heat of the Night and he had a Black Partner and they got along great 👍
It shows just how brilliant Carroll O'Connor was. Like you said, he wasn't like that IRL. I'd put this show in the top 3 of the best ever, probably number 1.
If you look closer you'll see he liked Lionel in a fatherly way and actually took him in a few days when he had a falling out with his parents, because he didn't want him out on the street. Even though he pretended to complain about it. When I was a kid I always thought the show was all about showing up racism and bigotry. And it does have that. But as I've gotten older.... I've come to see there were more messages in the show that I think weren't so obvious. The opening song is a hint at one. Another might be that line in To Kill a Mockingbird. "Most people are nice Scout... When you finally see them."
@@tevyeb All in the Family was a Vietnam War themed show in season one. It would always be one. There is no half-truth about my statement either. All true!!!!! Ho did commit mass-murder on NV landlords in the 1950s. And documentary filmmaker Ken Burns showed this of Ho in a book!

A cracked head is worth 1000 words. You should bring back those Irish cops in NYC.
i really liked how all the policemen understood what a guy archie is and made fun of him.
plus, the facial expressions on all actors were priceless!
It was also a sign that Norman was willing to compromise on some issues. It was too great of a metaphor to the ComEd head Thomas Ayers' son
I saw this episode lastnight it was awsome. I love it. Thanks so much for sharring‼️🤗🤗🤗

I've noticed Archie only wears that particular hat when he's driving Mr Munsons cab 😆
The irish cops are the best. Bring em back.

I knew Archie was going to mistake who the detective was. That detective looked unkempt, like Colombo, but not in a suit.
Well he wouldn't have fit in the 12th Precinct for sure 🤷🏼♂️🤓😎✌🏻

I guess this the closest scenario that we'll ever get as far as an _All In The Family/Columbo_ crossover goes... 🤔
Don't you have any barbers in the family?

That line is pure Archie. Great writers for Archie stereotype character.
