- Buzz and Lillian, Vanessa and Billy - a Double Wedding at the end of Guiding Light's historic run. I love both of these two couples and the actors who brought these wonderful characters to life.
I still miss you, "Guiding Light."

Jordan clarke did a wonderful job of making Billy such a loveable character.
As bitter a pill as the cancellation was,at least these wonderful characters we're given a happy ending! (Melissa Hayden as Bridget looks about 5 minutes older than she did when she joined the cast in the early 90's!)
I miss these people.

@@sandyemccleskey9996 No worries! I told UK Soap Fans about Ellen Parker being "Fired" and they were shocked. However to wait until nearly 20 years later to "apologize" it's so hypocritical. Tina Sloan caught alot of Flack after what "Lillian" did.

It's a trip watching this episode right after the (then) fifteen-year old episode with Vanessa telling a teenaged Bill that she doesn't think she and Billy will get back together.
Bill gets the last laugh, even over those creepy Matt fans.

Thank you for pointing that out! I wouldn't have known if you had not said it! Its been 11 and a years since the finale and I miss it everyday. You can truly tell that Christian Leblanc and Jeanne Cooper had and have real respect for the soap opera medium. :)
In The UK, when a character named Diedre died on Coronation Street, The Family of Anne Kirkbride allowed a Storyline. One of The Actors from Emmerdale was one of the mourners and on Eastenders they did a Xmas Special Kym Marsh & Chris Gascoyne (Ex Peter Barlow & Ex Michelle Connor) were visitors.

And Vanessa got to insist one last time. Oh, God, how I love this show, in spite of Peapack.
Ugggggh Buzz Cooper ended up with Lillian and her sniveling at Maureen's grave just made me mad, she died and Lillian gets a happily ever after??

This was hurtful to see the series, end for good...
Guiding Light might have burned out, but as the saying goes, "Something cannot burn out unless its on fire"!

You know what was so sad. So many folks visited Graves. Lillian with Maureen and Blake with Ross. Can you imagine knowing you indirectly caused someone's death and you could never really "apologize" for what you did. Lillian never had a "Stable" Man in her life. Bradley Raines, then Hawkins "Hawk" Shayne. Also I only started watching Guiding Light in 1995 so I didn't see the other scenes with Billy but he was quite a cool guy. He didn't mind working as a Fry Cook at The 5th Street Diner where he worked with Dahlia, I wish that he had given Tina a Job at Lewis Oil, and even have Frank Discover that Dahlia was his daughter.

Here's another fun fact. Lisa Brown made a Cameo Appearance in Aretha Franklin's Video for "Everyday People" in the 1990's. She was a big fan of her work on As The World Turns as Iva Snyder. On The UK Soap Opera Eastenders when Sharon Mitchell married her Husband Dennis Rickman there was a Street Party where they played Respect and when Roger crashed Michelle & Holly's Holiday Weekend in The Mountains, she and Roger slow danced to an Aretha Franklin Song during her time at Columbia aka Sony.

I had no idea that Douglas Marland created The Snyders on As The World Turns (Guiding Light`s Sister Show). He was quite the force to be reckoned with. When Lisa Brown kissed The Sky, she may have thought about him but now it could be Aretha Franklin as well.

I'm sorry but I would have been very angry if someone did a proposal on "My" Wedding Day. I wouldn't have shared My Day with anyone. Call me difficult but if Buzz wanted to Marry Lillian he would have asked earlier. You would have thought after what Lillian did, she would have warned Beth to stay away from Phillip and Rick when they were Married to "Other" Women, but she made being Co-Dependent all right.
I miss The Guiding Light, it was such a great soap that differentiated itself from the Bell soaps. Now CBS is dominated by the Bell soaps which tone and storylines are too similar....the good old days....but it is what it is.
I quit watching after the holly roger years. When it became the reva and Cassie show I quit watching. I don’t know half these people
Why on Earth didn't we NE of the channels play the Guiding Light episodes? That would have been fantastic.

I hate that Lilian found Happiness after she Destroyed Maureen’s Marriage and he and Ed cost her her life. And Buzz abandoned his family. And they have a Happy Ending😡

They moved to Detroit where Matt got into some Bad Business Deals, he used Vanessa's Money and lost it which lead to their Divorce and Dinah fixed it to look as if they were having an affair but they weren't. In reality, I'm not surprised that they broke them up. Jordan Clarke tried his best with Patti D'Arbanville (Ex-Selena) and Maureen Garrett (Ex-Holly) but to many die hard Fans only Billy should be with Vanessa.

Had P&G stuck with classic Guiding Light focusing on the Bauers the show would still be on the air today. Poor management, poor writing, poor producing and sometimes badly acted were the downfall of this legendary series. What could have been. GL shot itself so many times in the foot and ruined the show.
