We had so much fun getting to be some of the very first people to visit the American Dream mall's Tamagotchi section on Friday, and then, to follow it up on Saturday with a fan-organized group picnic was such an awesome experience. I clicked instantly when I saw you posted this interview! Thank you for being our voice and asking the questions we all in the community have been wondering about this re-release. Pretty bummed to hear about Tamatown not being brought back, hopefully they will change their minds about that. You can definitely tell there is a huge disconnect in understanding between Bandai America and Bandai Japan. It will be interesting to see if more things will be released in one country or another.
Yeah, a pause button for us sick ones still would be nice. I am 54, and autistic and have no circadian rhythm and I do have a dog and 2 cats that have to go by my schedule and they are good. I do have a V.4 running and a frog giga pet and cannot wait for my new connections. Having adult money I was able to just buy a v4.5 and a few others. She's like, well a real pet 🥺🖐 yeah but people have work and school too. Still want a pause button 😂. Ra, this was an amazing interview. You are so lucky.
I’m a little sad that there won’t be a tamatown rerelease, but I’m looking at the rerelease of the Connections as a different device. I think it’s interesting that they combined the V3 and the Keitai together.

All tamagotchis are awesome, but i do have my favourites 😍 😊 I am looking forward to getting my new tamagotchis which i have on pre-order so far i have pre ordered 3, but plan to try to get more. I love all the new shells especially the rainbow one and qthe clear retro one. I cant wait ❤
Loved this! This interview really allows us to see that Tamagotchi in general is not going to die any time soon. These people and representatives are dedicated to keeping it alive and making the fans happy as well as enticing new people. I'm so excited for the future of Tamagotchi!
I wonder, if this thing being announced towards the end of the year that fans have been asking for as well, might me an Angel / Devil (or some other special tama) rerelease. Can't think of something else we've been relatively vocal about aside from the Connections.
As a 80s/90s kid who never actually got to have a Tamagotchi (I had a gigapet frog instead), I'm not part of the hardcore tama fanbase (yet,) but I'm still really excited for this release! So hopefully that means it IS starting to reach beyond the core fanbase into the broader market a bit. I think more people just need to know about it, tbh. They'd probably find a lot of success by marketing at anime/gaming conventions to reach a wider "kidult" audience. When I saw a random tweet about the connection re-release, my first thought was "oh, that's neat that they're still making them." But then I fell in love with a couple of the shell designs and next thing I knew I had preordered them! Weeks later I'm looking up everything I can about tamas and their history to find out all of the neat things I missed out on while I wait for the release date. As a new fan, this interview was great and I'm really enjoying the rest of your videos! Thanks for doing what you do! And thanks to Tara and Anita for answering the questions so honestly! 😄
I definitely appreciate the interview, but the reason given for not having a pause button makes no sense, you do NOT take care of your pet 24/7 or we would all be bringing it to work - we can leave them with water and food, and when we come back we play with them a little, walk them/change their litter and they’re okay, whereas a tamagotchi will be sick, very unhappy and in some versions dead. I understand them wanting it to be a real pet, but if so the connections should have a sitter (which others have, as well as the uni which was recently released, so I also don’t understand them wanting to change the concept now). I really don’t get it.
I enjoy the candidness and the genuine "I don't know" answers. Realness feels nice. Is it just me, or did Tara seem kinda passive agressive at many points? I know asking for bigger and newer things instantly can feel like a lot, but heck, she was even a bit prickly about asking if there will be more shell designs eventually. I think these are normal questions. Kidults can be pushy, but he wasn't even asking anything crazy imo, he was quite respectful. I'm immensely excited for this release, and I'm happy that the interview took place, I think it was productive. I'm thrilled to know that I can order thr Melon Soda shell and play it in English.

Yeah, they apparently decided that isn't on brand anymore though, and that they wanted to change it going forward, even in a throwback product like this. Deeply disappointing to pretty much everyone I've talked to, myself included.
Sorry for driving you crazy bandai 😅. But we love you 💕 And the new connections are super exciting (I and my daughter preordered right away the first morning the connections were listed on amazon) I can’t speak for everyone but when I ask about a feature I really liked in whatever tama that doesn’t mean i’m unhappy with the device. It just means I thought that feature was fun and would like to see it again someday. Everyone has their favourites, the tamagotchi p is mine. I bought my first tamagotchi when I saw them in a window of a toy store in a random strip mall in Canada in the late 90’s. Decades later i’m still collecting and now my daughter does too. Thank you for the new connections and the interview. July can’t get here fast enough i’m looking forward to them so much.
The pause reasoning is a little silly, because with a real pet, if you were going on a trip or a long day event, you would have someone look after your pet. I.E. a pause or babysitter feature would be ideal in these cases you are doing bigger life events that you can’t bring or use your tamagotchi at. And I’m sure as hell not asking my friends to watch my tamagotchi for the day…
Nawww, this made me remember the times I recruited friends and family members as tamagotchi babysitters from time to time haha. No harm in asking, great memories.

I honestly never like pausing mine because I don't want to delay their growth or anything so if I'm busy in the day I just end up changing the time so it falls asleep and then wake it back up when I'm home. Frustrating though for people that might want to put it on hold for longer periods of time...
Curious as to how long a "season" is and when we can expect another wave of shell designs. Perhaps it will follow the same pattern as Gen 1 & 2? I'm personally holding off from buying until more shell designs come out. I've waited years for this ever since the re-release of the original, I'm sure I can wait a bit longer lol.
Yes, I saw that announcement too. Bit of a bummer for sure, but Japan has always been very against foreigners buying anything from Japan in general, so all together not that surprising. I'm sure they'll pop up on eBay and Mercari and others soon though, so it will be possible to buy them regardless.

Seeing how they suprised us with a color nano. Bandai is capable of doing a lot with their programming. They just choose not to. Kinda sad especially with the price increase and pixelated low rez designs. There are plus sides to this re-release thou so not all bummer about it. Ill enjoy what we have now and hope they listen even harder to the community. Its not that "arent happy" we know yall are capable of more, we are the consumers.
They're basically telling him there's a limited code range that will be available through the website. Since he remembers most of the codes there won't be much novelty and newness if he just puts in the old ones.
The fact they're releasing shells 4 each season so that we don't spend a lot of money all at once is so heartwarming that they're not a money greedy company like so many nowadays its cool anticipating what new shells release slowly over time ❤
Hard disagree. I never played Tamagotchi until PIX &then pix party. Then Uni, the a Gen 1 and Gen 2, I have True friends connection on order and want Melon soda. There are plenty of people like me that did not play "back in the day"

From what i’ve seen on his video of the Tama, really the only Keitai feature is the hoop game

For pause you can use the clock setting trick, it’s the same thing (though I agree it’s silly to remove the pause option too).
