- Today on what it’s like, this might be an engine that you have never heard about this was what is Chevy second engine first overhead valve configuration designed by George Arthur… really cool episode. Hope you enjoy it.
There is also the history of the beginning of Chevrolet and General motors in this episode =)
Wild how gm 4 poppers have evolved over the decades ! My 1994 s10 2.2 l makes about 120 hp and has about 661,000 miles on her ! And this is an original never rebuilt motor ! It did have 2 valve jobs but thats expected ! Cool video !
Wow that’s impressive thank you so much for sharing that engine with us have to cover that one day
Thanks Jay! You're doing great on the information and videos!
Thank you happy you dig this episode
WYR: All of them.
I don't recognize the tune. Those old Chevys deserve a good home.
Enjoyed, great vid!! 👍👍
WYR 🤔 Absolutely all of them 👏👏👏
1914 only because I'm a runabout or speedster crazy nut 😂🤷..
😂Back like a bad case of the crabs 😱 .. Now that's a description 😂!!!
Great Episode
Happy Motoring ✌️🤠
Awesome choices haha yeah put some humor into this one I love telling the history of companies. It’s very interesting. William Durant was a very interesting character in history.
Great info there, Jay! Chevy was so famous for its sixes that most have forgotten about the 4 cylinder engines. Once again, I learned new stuff today! Thanks, Jay!
Awesome happy you got something out of this episode =)
@@What.its.like. My head is filled to the brim with useless automotive trivia, but I almost always learn something from your videos. Plus, I get entertainment from your videos too! It's a win-win!
I tried to put some humor in this one. I should’ve put the blooper real at the end, because there were some things that I changed…
That Chevy engine is better than the one that Chevy Vega had!! 😅
Hi Jay! Thanks for another awesome engine episode! Chevrolet had a 6 for so long no one seems to remember the 4! Glad you are going to cover the Copper-Cooled Chevy in a future episode! I am fascinated by that one! You might say it was GM's Edsel! Charles Kettering was heavily involved in that project. If I am correct, one, if not the only Copper Cooled Chevy is in the collection of the Henry Ford! Yes, Ford got their hands on one, whilst the rest got pushed into a lake! (According to legends.) WYR#1 I like that 1928 Truck!! It's Cool! #2 I like that 1923 Chevy coupe.
I think you are correct on all counts! I have heard that Alfred P Sloan had them all dumped in the Detroit river. Ford probably bought one as soon as they came out, just so he could see what his competition was doing.
Great information Jeff =) I totally forgot about the copper cooled debacle until finishing up this episode.. and came across it definitely have to cover that one
Awesome choices
@@What.its.like. Hi Jay! There was an article on the CCC in Special Interest Autos magazine (sorry, I can't remember the issue number) not too much more info about on that one. Maybe the Henry Ford would have some info?
Chevy gives you advanced OHV technology 😁 (but we went cheap on the bottom end bearings so we could do that) 🙃 To be fair I'm not sure shell bearings were around when they first designed this engine and most everyone was using poured babbit bearings too 🤠 Long stroke engines may not rev well but in return they do extract every bit of combustion pressure from low revs, making them feel torquey which to most people will feel faster, which was a good thing with the slow-burning low-power fuels they had then. It got Chevrolet ahead enough in the game to meet Ford, but it was the later "stovebolt 6' that cemented Chevy's permanent prominence.
WYR The '28 truck is cool but I like the '20 Phaeton better. And the '23 Coupe looks sporty for it's day.
Sweet choices great information and insight
Good comment, but low octane fuels burn faster, not slower. When fuel burns fast, it is more like an explosion, which results in pinging. So, the higher octane burns slowly, allowing higher compression and/or more spark advance, which is where extra power comes from.
@@61rampy65 Thanks, it's now edited. it's not 'octane' my mind was reaching for when I wrote that, but a similar term which describes fuel refinement which won't come to mind. I should not get in such a hurry writing things sometimes...
My old 26 has this engine and I can say it’s a reliable engine for a reliable car 98 years old and it’s never been rebuilt! Another great video
Awesome =) happy you dig this video
Jay try to catch all your videos great history and content thanks
Thank you so much I wanted this one to come out yesterday but it didn’t make it so I figured it’s late. Might as well make it an early release. =)
The engine review was interesting... but I found myself being more interested in Durant's business history... businessmen, true businessmen are of a totally different breed than mere mortals... LOL
Haha me too one day I would love to start doing episodes on actual people when the base gets bigger
@@What.its.like. Great idea! I look forward to it!
Car choices: 1928 Chevy, 1927 Chevy.
My uncle (1910-1988) liked 4 cylinder Chevrolets, but he always said they ruined Chevrolet when they went to 6 cylinders. Then the Ford V8's came out in '32, and he was totally soured on anything else from then on, and saw nothing as any good but a Ford V-8. When I was a kid, I recall him saying, "I'd get a V-8 lawnmower if they made one!"
Sweet choices thank you so much for sharing that story =)
WYR: 1920 Chevy, 1927 Chevy.
Now I need to research William Durant. They say he was flamboyant.
Great choices totally agree
A 25 Chev model K 4dr was abandoned here for failure to pay its bills . They seem to be of little value I feel because of the extensive use of wood in Fishers body's. At one time the frames and 4 cylinder engine was popular with dirt track racers. Gives me thoughts of another project
Look forward to your next videos.
That’s crazy they just left it there.. build a speedster =) happy you dig this episode
Would rather have a Dodge from that era.
Another good history video, take the 1914 and 1916 Chevrolets.
Just sent you a yahoo e-mail.
Happy you dig this episode =)
I sent you one as well
I forgot to add if you’re ever getting rid of anything feel free to send it eventually would love to have the office instead of doing it at the kitchen table people send me stuff all the time. I love the frame it and just hang it on the wall… the ads the books I use a lot, there is so much more information in print than online
😆 that man said like a cockroach after a A-bomb goes off...that's better then a. .. Case of Saber Tooth Croch Crickets
Hahaha yeah most definitely
Cool episode. I'd choose the 1914 Chevy and the 1923 Chevy but really they are all cool.
Sweet choices happy you dig this episode
Nice work young man.
Thank you happy you dig this episode
Florida at 35 there is about 10 times the water in the air ...then up North
It’s cold to the bone and it’s a totally different type of cold like no lie 35° here in the winter time is almost perfect. Just put a hoodie on and you’ll be comfortable 35° in Florida the same time of year totally different experience
@@What.its.like. I agree I used to drive trucks for United Van lines...an I never did get used to .....Monday ..lake Michigan (dry) cold.. .by Friday Florida (wet) cold ...an the same with the heat....MS orAl ....wet an muggy like a mop got throwed on ya.....go out west an its dry heat ...nose dryes out skin dry....but I well say Florida at 35 is kinda nice as long as tje wind isn't blowing 👍👍👍👍👍
@@joshjones3408 Old joke about Florida:
Three passengers on a train struck up a conversation. The first was from Minnesota. "I've heard it gets awfully cold in Minnesota," one of the others said.
"Yes, but it's a dry cold, it doesn't bother you as much," said the Minnesotan. One of the other passengers was from Arizona "Gets really hot in Arizona, so I've heard," said one of the others. "Yes, but it's a dry heat," said the man from Arizona. "It doesn't bother you as much." It so happened the third passenger was from Florida. "Rains a lot in Florida," said one of the others. "Yeah, but it's a dry rain, it doesn't bother you as much." said the Floridian.
@@jsat5609 😆😆😆😆👍🙂
Yu sound like Garrett... from the speaker blowout channel lol
I’ll have to look them up personally I don’t like me voice it’s something I’ve struggle with
Ill take the pickup.
Always great cameos of the featured engines!
I really try to cover the engines that nobody else talks about
1928 Chevy truck, and 1927 Chevy sedan
Sweet choices
Theme To "Star Trek" by The Spock-Tones
Great guess not that song or TV show lol
It’s not from a TV show jingle that I’m aware of

Sweet choice
Thank you for saying it nicely.
