That’s the thing about many bands’ early stuff: it is much more creative and bold than a lot of modern attempts. It’s impossible not to enjoy these masterpieces, hands down. Great you liked it!
Part of it is also the age we live in now and what bands have to do to survive. Back in the early 2000's music still cost money. Now bands have to make songs as broad as humanly possible because of how funding works.
Absolution, Origin of Symmetry and Black Holes & Revelations are easily 3 of the greatest albums ever made. New Born never fails to blow my mind though.

Plug in Baby might sound it was "written as a single," but it is actually one of the band's oldest tracks. The verses and chorus predate the first album, but the music didn't start coming together until Matt unlocked the scale-riff during the Showbiz touring.

people discovering space dementia is my favourite thing bc even among muse fans, or even in the 2000s when muse were more popular, it generally didnt used to get very much recognition because its not a single. that goes for so many songs on this album, i remember so many of my friends just listened to plug in baby not bothering with anything more piano based or more experimental and unique to muse like screenager or darkshines

It's a pure classic like others already pointed out, just like Hybrid Theory/Meteora, Iowa etc. Wish Muse would go back to their Origin of Symmetry & Absolution roots. Although their latest album has some Absolution vibes. 🤘
what are your opinions on Porcupine Tree? Any albums you haven't heard from them yet? That would be a great next into prog rock (with some metal in there for sure).
I am still thankful to Erra to re introduce this amazing band , I liked there new Album especially kill or be killed, from then I became a new fan for them , I kind of like the original Stokholm Syndrome , yet i got also addicted to the Erra version , because its gives me a different flavour for such a great vibe

If you enjoyed this, listen to their remastered anniversary version. Kicks ass, especially since there are a few subtle extra instrumental lines.

Early on they got immediate Radiohead comparisons, I think this album set them apart, established their own ‘muse’ sound.
