I tested negative for HPV years ago at my gynacologist appointment, and I have a papilloma under my tongue that my dentist is sending me to the oral surgeon for. My husband of 41 years had 1 sexual partner at age 17 and I truly believe him when he says no one else. I have never had any sexual contact but him after we married. The dentist said the papilloma is from HPV. It is a white skin tag about the size of a small bead. But the dentist said they are usually benign. I just noticed this growth 10 days ago.
Hi Karen, While it's possible that some treatments have changed the other info should be accurate. You can carry the virus long before any symptoms occur. As we get older our bodies become less resistant to these viruses. There are many ways to get some of the HPV viruses on the tongue so it's not possible to say that someone's partner had sex with someone else. Most of the time the virus goes away by itself.
I'm confused that how do 50%-80% of people have contact with hpv but the prevalence is 10%. Can someone explain it to me.
