Is this information still accurate in August of 2022? I tested negative for HPV years ago at my gynacologist appointment, and I have a papilloma under my tongue that my dentist is sending me to the oral surgeon for. My husband of 41 years had 1 sexual partner at age 17 and I truly believe him when he says no one else. I have never had any sexual contact but him after we married. The dentist said the papilloma is from HPV. It is a white skin tag about the size of a small bead. But the dentist said they are usually benign. I just noticed this growth 10 days ago.

Hi Karen, While it's possible that some treatments have changed the other info should be accurate. You can carry the virus long before any symptoms occur. As we get older our bodies become less resistant to these viruses. There are many ways to get some of the HPV viruses on the tongue so it's not possible to say that someone's partner had sex with someone else. Plus there are other things that cause bumps on the tongue. This is a good overview of tongue bumps and causes, www.healthline.com/health/warts-on-tongue

Hi Gloria, I'm sorry but that's not something we can answer. "Anal warts are caused by HPV. You can get HPV in two ways: Sexual intercourse with an infected person.
Direct contact with the anal or genital area of an infected person. This could be hand contact or coming in contact with genital or anal fluids from an infected person." my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/24097-anal-warts

So do men at 37 clear the virus or no

Most of the time the virus goes away by itself.

I'm confused that how do 50%-80% of people have contact with hpv but the prevalence is 10%. Can someone explain it to me.

Not everyone who has contact with hpv gets hpv, and most people who get hpv also cure themselves through their immunoe system within 6 to 12 months and never know it.

@Miguel Hernandez there isn't always warts or lesions. It's a silent killer.
