Just got the same bar from another collector. Was on a fire truck in Alabama and taken off and sat in storage for 30yrs. Guy who sold it to me had in his collection for a few years and now I have it. Domes are in almost perfect condition. It's a beautiful lightbar!
Nice find Stampeed! Someone switched the "pods" on the right side: the 180 degree bulb holder is always outboard, someone put it inboard... It runs smooth (-:
Fantastic overview SV, have been reenjoying watching this one! Such a classic bar, with some very clever unique features. Hope to see that beauty "offered up" soon! Thanks for sharing
We had them when I was an MP at Ft. Bragg. Still my favorite I ever used, over the Federal Twinsonics. Still, they could've been better from the company by adding another bulb to the inside rotator.
PSE did allow that as an option, you typically see these on the Select Alert optioned bars. If you go through my video, I have done this myself on a few bars.
Love these old SD bars, probably my favorite bar in my collection. I believe the 180 offsets were always installed on the outboard and the 120 offsets were the inboard for both the SD and XL bars. It's interesting the one side of this bar is flip-flopped.
other then Both Square shaped with a center speaker grille, internally they are both completely different. I have a few videos talking about both the Twinsonic and the Code 3 SD if your interested.
Looks nice, I've heard of these before, they always reminded me of a twinsonic for whatever reason, I think San Francisco was the biggest purchaser of these.
Nice bar!! I did notice the 90 degree holders aren’t in the same spot. Usually they are both on the inboard position. On this bar the left is on the inboard position and the right is on the outboard position, strange. Question, what is the replacement belt part number and where can they be sourced.
I wanna say 300XL025, I will come back and correct that if I am wrong. you can find them on Amazon pretty cheaply. Hit me up on FB or elb and I can give you a link of what I used.

possibly, you might be right. But never assume "always" I've been around long enough to never be shocked at what Code 3 did for the $$$.
Another great video of an excellent score. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks! You too!

When I was a cadet, this light bar was on our rescue unit

Nice lightbar, were these built under license from FS? They sure do look similar to Twinsonics
