  • This is a recording of a Hip Hop jam that was held on Saturday 20th September 1986 at the Town & Country Club in Kentish Town, London.
    It features live performances from DJ Cheese & Word Of Mouth, T La Rock, Mantronix and Faze One. It was broadcast as part of an all day charity event called 'Rock Around The Clock' by the BBC.

      You said that like you should feel guilty! You'd have to be getting on to be into Hip Hop, BC it died in the'90s.

    Being in London, UK back in the 1980's had to be phenomenal. The people there have a love for real hip-hop.

      Yeah there was a great Hip Hop scene in London in the 1980s, we were lucky to have such easy access to the music coming out of the US. By the late 1980's our own scene had developed into something special in it's own right.

      Not just London (even though London likes to think it was) but the whole country was on it, all the cities had big scenes and the smaller towns were even more passionate than the big cities as without as there wasn't money to be made, just living it and loving it

      @@callithowiseeit5806 I'm sure there were much better, less bubble gum, pop style emcees, about back then around the UK, than Faze One... Surely. I remember the tune back then, it didn't stand up at all, & was treated like novelty joke.

    Yeahhhhhh T LA ROCK! Amazing mc back in the day!....Plus a rare chance to see Mantronik cut it up on the ones n twos... .Answers to the comp= Howie Tee and Aerosmith... Wish I had gone to New York back in the day...!!! RIP John Peel a champion of upfront music...Not sure what Kershaw and Long were doing there!
