Got my first job in HR corporate entry level the other day. I believe its important when employees say "they get bored easily" its not negative its positive, because it shows that the employee doesnt want to be stuck and wants to branch out into different things all the time to grow. Would you rather have a employee doing the same thing for 10 years? or would you rather have an employee doing different jobs in various places all the time? that choice could make or break your clients company. I am still determining what function it is in HR I'm most interested in, and leaning toward training & development, and employee retention. You mentioned so many great credentials and I want to invest in them all! But would you say that the aPHR certification is a good place to start? It looks like that's the only certification a professional can get without having prior HR experience, but I wasn't sure what the credential requirements were. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for the great tips. I recently applied to become a SHRM-CP at a local college. I have no experience in this profession at all. I have expensive clinical healthcare experience though. I'm worried because of my personality traits ( I'm reserved, timid and not outspoken) I wonder if I'd do well. Any tips?
I'm really interested in HR, but find it impossible to get an entry-level job. Even the HR assistant positions require 1-2 years of experience. Applied for over 20 jobs, didn't get one single interview. I would love to take online courses and have been doing so for awhile. I would love to take certifications through SHRM but even their specialty credentials as you mentioned in the video are $1500-$2000 which I can't just bust out simply to have a badge on my resume.
Hi Madeline, thanks for this video! So if I’m understanding correctly, are you saying that even having, for example, the TA credential on your resume without any other HR certificate, it can help level up your resume for an HR position? I have job experience with HR tasks and duties in the military along with my recent college degree. I have been applying to HR positions but I feel like I need a certification of some sort like SHRM. Thanks in advance for your feedback!! :)

can you please tell me what you chose to do? I am in a similar situation currently, and getting an MA in HR after an unrelated degree seems like a great option atm.

God yes!!! I actually took a while before I went to college after high school and held many many jobs in customer service. I had so many years of experience as a cashier which translates into cash handling, customer service, communication skills, organization skills, etc. You'll learn how to market your skills over time to help you land better jobs 🙂🙂🙂
Hi! Do you think starting with a Bachelor’s in Psych/Communication and having some months of experience at an internship (difficult to obtain rn because of the pandemic but I am trying) would help me land a starting job in hr? I will also try to get those certifications since I noticed the hr jobs require them. What are other ways to earn experience? I really liked your recruitment example, but I feel like I will need way more since I’m barely going to get my bachelor’s. My dream is to go to grad school for I-O Psych, but that is not possible atm due to the high cost, so I hope to get a job in hr, earn experience, and maybe get an employee to help out with my master’s later on.
I want to know more about HR department, i'm going to apply for HR course at university this year. Hope you will update more videos about HR. Thank you very much.
Hi Madeline, I love your videos. I a not done with my bachelor's degree yet, but I do have experience in Benefits and leave administration. Would I need to focus on these 5 skills until after I finish my degree or can I work on them now? It is my understanding I cannot take any SHRM courses until after I finish my degree. Thank you for all your videos.

Just wanted to know , what about those individuals who do not have a hr background but thinking of a career switch , as I have been in branch banking for the past 3 years and now I'm thinking of pursuing a mba in hr, am I eligible for these certifications as I am not currently an hr professional?? Hi. Thank you so much for your great video. I am doing a one year program in HRM now and want to go for credentials that will help me get a job after graduation. I hear a lot about SHRM, now I want to decide between talent acquisition and compensation. which one do you think is better?
Should I pursue an MA in HR when I'm an English BA holder?
can you please tell me what you chose to do? I am in a similar situation currently, and getting an MA in HR after an unrelated degree seems like a great option atm.
do these shrm links apply to canadian contexts or is it exclusive to americans. I am interested in getting a masters in HR so i'm trying to access as many resources as i can
What's the meaning of... "Another chump with the hunch"?
Valuable message ❤️
I'm a high school sophomore and if I can land a cashier job will that help after college
Same here.. I am trying to get into HR after leaving clinical work as a psych and moved into education.
Thankss ❤️
I love your channel!!
Thanks Derek!!
Excellent, useful.
I want to know more about HR department, i'm going to apply for HR course at university this year. Hope you will update more videos about HR. Thank you very much.
highschooler here, positive that this is what I want to do. Any advice?
That’s great to hear!
Hello, may I ask, how did you obtain that experience? I need to gain experience myself

Great video !! Just wanted to know , what about those individuals who do not have a hr background but thinking of a career switch , as I have been in branch banking for the past 3 years and now I'm thinking of pursuing a mba in hr, am I eligible for these certifications as I am not currently an hr professional??
Thank you.
These are not certifications, these are credentials. You can purchase the classes to get them.

Wanna hear a joke ?? What's the difference between HR professional and doctor, lawyer, engineer, pilot, scientist ?
The other five don't have to remind you their professionals lol 😄
Hilarious. Wanna hear another joke? People that don't know the difference between "their" and "they're" are idiots.
