- Hello! My name is Isabel and I'm Dutch. I've been crazy about ASMR for about 4 years now and I am finally posting my very own ASMR video's since the 20th of June 2016! This is video #31. I hope you like it!

In this ASMR video you will meet up with your Dutch Teacher Isabel again, she will first take a look at some similar words in English and Dutch and than you will learn to pronounce some difficult combinations in letters. So educational and relaxing at the same time, because the whole video is soft spoken and a little bit of whispering in between! Enjoy the tingles and sleep tight!

Funny thing is, this is actually a very good way to learn Dutch. You picked some very good words that exist in both languages. A for effort.

When I lived in Amsterdam (and Uithoorn) in 2000 I *tried* to learn Dutch. I managed reasonably well, as long as you're not fussy about grammar, or the correct 'the' for a noun (I felt faintly embarrassed making everything diminutive to make them all 'het') I still use "Geen flauw idee" when I haven't the faintest idea. Strange how things stick.

Great video! Ik vond het bijzonder moedig dat je bij rlt late night zat. Vond het alleen een beetje jammer dat sommige personen het onderwerp een klein beetje belachelijk maakte. Maar dat zal de Nederlandse nuchterheid wel wezen 'als je normaal doet doe je al gek genoeg' haha. In iedergeval goed gedaan :)

Ik zag het van de week bij RTL late night en toen werd ik er al rustig van, Vandaag echt een hele drukke dag gehad en word direct rustig hiervan.
Grappig net bij RTL Late night. Volgens mij snapten ze niet veel van ASMR. Als je het zo op TV ziet dan komt het ook wat vreemd over. Het is ook iets wat niet echt werkt in een ruimte met veel mensen bij elkaar. Het werkt alleen als een persoonlijke ervaring.
Yay, ASMR where you learn stuff is the best! So glad you did this again. And man, that professional audio/camera setup is something else. I normally listen to ASMR out my phone on my bedside, but that close up whispering demanded headphones and attention for maximum tingles.

Indeed, Dutch is a lovely mix of German, French and English. With a lil' Dutch creativity.
Soyons Sensationnelles we have words we sort of "borrowed" from French and English which we call 'leenwoorden( borrowed words)'
C'est bon, je habite aux Pays-Bas, mais je peux parler un petit peu en Français aussi (on c'apprendre dans mon école) Ik spreek ook Nederland. Ein bisschen Deutsch, aber das(s) ist nicht so sehr gut, ich lerne das auch in meine Schule. (Phonetic) Watashi nihongo sukoshi hanasemasu.
And some Spanish, líttle bit Hungarian, Latin, ancient Greek and English, of course!

Thank you Isabel! I was hoping you made another Dutch lesson video from your last one created. Hence, this one was just as awesome as the last one - thanks so much. I like the fact that, you wrote out the last two parts of the lesson right in front of us. That was very relaxing to watch you write on the marker board. The level on this seemed quite basic - but than again I have two languages under my belt.

These teacher roleplays are my favorites.. and I got a tingle I haven't experienced in years! I forgot how much watching someone erase a chalkboard or white board made me tingle. Maybe one day you can do more videos where you erase a board.

Correction: the spelling for 'Stress' in Dutch and English are the same. You said in Dutch you don't write the second S which is false.

In Holland seventeen year olds can get their drivers license, but they are not alowed to drive by there own. There has to be a 'drivers coach' next to them on the passengers seat. This can be a parent or an older friend or other person. This person has to verified by the government to make sure they can driver properly and does not have lots of parking fees for example. Great video!
And ofcourse when they become 18,they are allowed to drive by themselves.

I really like this. I like dutch a lot. But I've never understood the pronunciation of the R's. It has 3 different sounds but I don't know what is the rule to know which is correct each time
This question made me think. 👀 Maybe...at the end of the word we use that English kind of "R". Like: "water." But when it's in the beginning of the word, i often use the rrr that is in the front of your mouth. "rood" = red. "raam" = window. So with a word with 2 R's like "raar" (which means weird) I would say the first R in the front of your mouth and the last one the English way. pfff ok maybe this sounds complicated.

Calendyr they are not interchangable :) it depends on the word they appear in front of, though there are no rules for that so it's like german where you just have to study or guess which one fits to which word haha

It seems as though a word like van, as in ik hou van jou, that doesn't technically have a translatable meaning in English could most easily be explained as an article similar to the "el" one would before words in Spanish.
For example, el libro simply means book rather than "the book" as might be assumed by one unfamiliar with the mechanics of the language.
Leuk om ASMR op te zien, kende je nog niet! Moeilijke tafel had je, al had ik misschien niet voor het woord 'braingasm' gekozen, klinkt toch te veel als orgasme. Verder erg leuk optreden, zal je video's tijdje volgen en kijken of je mij ook raakt! ;)

Each vowel combination shows the combination and how to pronounce it. Each example has three parts: the Dutch spelling, the pronunciation, and the translation.

u - uh, example: rustig => rust-ahh (flick the tongue on the “r”) => calm
ou - oww, example: hout => howt => wood
au - oww (same pronunciation as “ou”), example: pauw => pow => peacock
oe - ooh, example: boer => booer => farmer (or a burp), example: boerin => boo-rin (flick the tongue on the “r”) => burping
Sentences
Each sentence below has three parts: the Dutch spelling, the pronunciation, and the translation
Ik hou van jou => ick how vawn yow => I love you
de muur is duur => da muur is duur => The wall is expensive
Koen is rustig => cooen is rust-ahh (flick the tongue on the “r”) => Koen (a boy’s name) is calm
het vuur moet uit => het fuur moot ahhout => The (het) fire (vuur) needs to be (moet) put out (uit)
