I had bought a filly from a friend. The mother had died . She had not been handeld. It was a good experience with her . I had had rides for many years . I had many horses in my life . But she turned out to be one of my best. With love and patience it always works out. I'm >n my 70 now I wish I could do it again . Praise the horses . They can be so much fun if taken care of properly. God Bless you horse people

@@HelenE.DawsonI'm 58 and I couldn't agree more. Animals instinctively know if a person is good or not and often so do we. Unfortunately to many override their own instincts, I stopped doing that a long time ago. My great great aunt used to always tell me I was like a lot of that part of the family and didn't suffer fools well, but the important thing would be when I stopped suffering my own foolishness in trying to please those that couldn't be pleased, when I asked her what she meant, she just said one day she had a feeling I would be one of those that found out, in the meantime as a kid she taught me a lot including passing on her love of life, nature and animals. Later I often think sometimes to many years later I figured out what she meant, it was a little hard to take at first when I understood she was talking about certain family members, but I also know going through what I did is part of why I am who I am. She and my grandma were two of the most important people in my life and I am thankful for everything they taught me, including about animals, especially those in the wild, but also about horses and even cats and dogs along with a whole bunch of other critters. I do especially these days much prefer their company over most people. It's to bad others don't understand that.

    Beautiful story.
    When I was 8 or 9 , I was hurt badly by violence ,
I went across the farm to a hillside, sat down and cried my heart out 😥.
    I felt a nudge , and there stood a nugget stallion .
The energy and love he showed was healing.
When I told Dad the next day ( as I was not able to until then )
He said that I was very lucky to get off so lightly as stallions are unpredictable.
I learnt a lot about horses that day .

This story reminds me of my connection I had with 7 horses that were brought to the farm I lived on. The owners couldn't believed how the horses connected to me. The horses knew I loved them. Trust with these amazing animals was the most important lesson. I started out sitting in the field waiting for them to come to me. Those boys would of been gone. By the time the horses were due to leave in the fall.i was the one who got them in their trailers. Our bond was amazing . Come spring time I waited patiently for my new friends to come back. A time I looked forward to.

I can relate to this woman and her connection with horses. When I was 14, me and my parents went to visit a stable not far from where I live as I always loved animals, horses were my favorites. And I prefer animals over human company a lot. The day before arriving at the stables, I had drawn a picture of a horse as well that came to my mind. When arriving at the farm, I didn't know they had horses before I heard them from the stable. So I asked if I could go and take a look at them when I heard them. THe stable owner said yes, they were an elderly couple, kind and sweet. When i entered, I could see all the horses and I walked by each heir box to look at them. But, as I approached the 3'rd box on the left side, I saw the horse I had drawn the day before. She was 3 years old, had arrived there the day before. Yes, the same day I had drawn the picture of her. However, she was standing with her head in one corner, she didn't eat or drink. Didn't even respond to anything around her. She had given up on life. I could see it on her. I asked the man if I could go in to her, he told me no, and that they had tried everything and nothing had helped. But I was persistent and asked 3 times in all before he agreed. As I had been in fosterfamily for 3 years and been treated badly, I could relate to her, and I spoke to her and told her my own experience. To the owners of the stables suprice, the horse reacted, her ear moved towards me as I was talking, she was listening and understanding. I took some hay and encouraged her to eat, pettign her while I was doing so. And she ate the hay from my hand to the owners surprise. My mother told me about his reaction as I hadn't paid attention to anyone else than the mere in front of me. I did notice she had been mistreated badly, she had been treated like a cow for all her 3 years, even worse from what I could see and understand out of what I was told. I asked to take her out for a walk, the owner said no again, telling me that she was afraid of everything, even her own shadow. But once again, I didn't relent, I asked 3 times and he gave in and said okey. So gently I put on the halter on the horse gently. I was calm the entire time, showed the horse she had nothing to fear from me. Petting and encouraging her all the way, showing the horse love and understanding. The spark in her eyes had returned and she was curious, and I lead her out of the stables. The first thing she does is to eat grass and doesn't shy away from her shadow like the owner had thought she would do. I kept walking her around, and I even walked past a tractor, keeping myself between the horse and the tractor. She was calm the entire time, even eager to walk around in her new envierment. When I walked back to the stable, I once more kept myself between the horse and the tractor to show her that if she was afraid, I would be there between her and what was scary. When I got up, the owner of the stable was both in awe and frightened, I got scolded by him from staying between the horse and the tractor. I just simply answered calmly that I knew what I was doing. But from that day forth, I was working there and taking care of her and the other horses. There was 20 of them in total. I was 14 years old, yet I was the best stable help he had ever had during his years. However, he didn't have the respect and understanding for the horses like I did, so he broke the horse trust one day when I was at school after some months, even my own trust in him as he had told me that I could have that horse as my own... But, he forced her to do something she was far from ready to do, so she had returned to the state she had been the first day I met her. He told me tha tit was my own fault for getting attached to the horse and other things. Then not long after, he gave her away behind my back and breaking my trust in them even more. I quit working there not long after. Yet to this day, I was still the best stablehand he ever had.

How cruel, evil, and twisted these selfish boys are. This is NOT A PRANK, but an evil act which could have costed Sarah her life. I’m glad this ended well, but it could have ended up a whole lot worse, and to where the stallion would have attacked her. I’ve had my own experience with heartless and cruel peers.
I always loved horses and still do, but growing up in my childhood, kids used to tease me like Sarah as well, so much so that I had to be wary and cautious around them. I never knew what they were going to pull on me from one day to the next, it was always something new. I had to be very careful whenever they were around. Name calling was always there pet peeve and it was very pathetic on their part. They made fun of me all the time no matter what it was, and they knew I loved horses.
In my teens, like Sarah, I was always around horses and was riding horses more often, but that never stopped the ridicule that I still endured from kids going to and from school, they still were taunting me the whole distance. I was trying to go home alone, but at times they would follow and come along just to make me feel bad. They loved how it would hurt me to make themselves feel better.
I used to visit other people’s horses and at one point in time, I was able to get close to a black stallion that was unridable. I was able to get near enough to pet and feed him a little bit of hay, at times I would bring a few carrots to feed him and a couple other horses, but I also respected the stallion and knew what he could do if I didn’t keep a watchful eye on him. He was beautiful, and was a Arab/Morgan cross and a half brother to Tony. Tony was the horse I really fell in love with and rode the most when I had the chance to do so. We bonded together. Afterwards, the black stallion was gelded because he was breaking down fences and getting loose, and also causing trouble with the other horses and animals….he also was a bit on the wild side, but I had a lot of respect for him because he was a strong stallion and I knew what he could do. He never was completely trained to ride, but I loved him anyway, and I was one of the few that he would let near him, others he never trusted. I learned a lot from watching horses and treating them with respect and kindness. Tony was well trained and he taught me to be a better rider by helping me learn the meaning of slight leg pressure and cues, this not only taught by riding instructors, but a good horse can also teach you to follow their training skills if one pays close attention to their horse and movements….it is felt from the horse itself if one is connected and bonded with it properly. I was with Tony. We had many good rides together and I learned to have a soft rein on his mouth and leg pressure, then he was willing to take me anywhere on our rides together and performed a rocking chair lope when I asked him to do it….one of the best rides I’ve ever had on a horse and less tiring for both horse and rider. Tony was a half Arab/Morgan cross and one of the best horses I have ever ridden. I still miss him, always will, we were companions and friends together. He had heart and soul….It was a rare moment with me and him. It’s something you feel inside and can’t fully explain…..Dixie was another horse I loved and bonded with…she was as good as Tony was….😥. RIP Tony and Dixie I still miss both of you very much….may you have eternal rest in Gods heaven….👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I gave the horse one more pate and went to the owner he said the horse is wild and would bit people. Everytime i went over there i would pat the horse . Yes i saved two horses that would of gone for dog food and they was Arab mother and son and i had the papers that came with them and the mother would not let others on her back with out rare up and flipping over on her back because nobody asked her before getting up on her back with out kindness eathier and i got the both of them and weaned the colt from his mum and then i went and saddle the mare and work with her while i was on the ground and i had seen how badly she was broken in and i took her back to square one and heck after i did that the mare became my best friend and she use to bow down after i saddle her up because i couldn't get up on my horses normal because of my bad hip from the way i was born and i let my horses choses if they want to be ridden not me just getting on their back and i had my colt broken in and i found out that they was not gentle in the braking in of my colt and he hated people on his back because of the trainer who broke my colt in but i did not hurt my horse for what he had done to me but i gain his trust and i did not geld him ether because he was of top breeding and his stud fee was worth a lot of money but over the time i had to give him to new owners because of my health problems and the people who got him now are show him and his mother are still alive today because of what i did for them and they will never be sold by their new owners and when they get to old they will get the last act of kindness because of the best friend ship they have and i had seen my boy and he let me on his back with out a saddle and after that ride the owners found him on the ground dead that happened just before i had my brain tumor removed but his mum is alive and has had more foals that have a fun wild side they make you work hard to gain their trust and love just like their brother that passed away from a broken heart because he wanted to come back to me but i could not as i was not well enough to keep a horse

Yes the other stable workers put me in a pen with a black stallion which was startled trampled its owner to death who was a teenage girl like me. I just gently spoke with the stallion brushed him no sudden moves i came out okay. Then they shoved a crop up a mares ass when i was on her bareback. She ran wildly for over 2km before she settled down I was badly bruised.

2nd line: the word"and" never follows a comma. 7th grade English! "And" is a conjunction which CONNECTS two parts of a sentence. (Same thing applies to the word "or").

      try again
The horse, a prey animal, depends on flight as its primary means of survival. Its natural predators are large animals such as cougars, wolves, or bears, so its ability to outrun these predators is critical. As humans, we need to understand their natural flightiness in order to fully understand horses.
