When the groups enter a rigorous training, people call it abuse and mistreatment. When the company becomes lenient and lessen their training periods, people call it declining quality and substandard. Make up your mind then.
I think its age that matters too. I would expect someone over 17 to be able to decide whether they want to commit to this and train as hard as it takes or not. If a literal child participates, it's hard not to view it as child abuse (in some cases). But then again, it's a career and they are not paid in monopoly money, other regular people with salaries depend on their success too so being an idol really is an adult's job. Also someone born with raw talent will not suffer in training, but if you are solely recruited for visual appeal and can't hold a damn note for 3 secs, ofcourse you are going to suffer. With the majority of current idols, they are just glorified tiktokers. Heck I've seen many youtubers who do better vocal and dance covers. Should gatekeep being an idol unles you are genuinely talented. Visuals can go be insta models

The middle era of 3rd generation is when the talent started declining until 4th gen entered & ended. 1st, 2nd & early 3rd gen are full of talented individuals who are really passionate with music hence the composers & producers we hace for a handful of 4th & 5th gen are ex-idols as well as having proficient & comoetitive vocalists. They also have shortcomings not gonna lie but the groups who dominated that era still have talented members carrying their groups. Late 3rd gen & 4th gen as a whole focused too much on the trendiness of the song, visuals of their idols & the brands they sign with. Talent in vocals & musically inclined idols declined rapidly hence when 4th gen started, all groups is all about the trends, visuals, high end brands, numbers of sales & making it to the western ent industry. There are only few late 3rd gen & 4th gen groups who have all the skill set but visuals, dancing skills, easy sounding songs & numbers were in demand & successfully shaped the decline of music quality in kpop hence the groups who came at the top have music good for the trend hopping & shorter algorithm with mediocre vocal skills & absolutely a beginner at songwriting, composing, producing & directing. Now that 5th gen is starting, there seems to be a demand with proficient songwriter, lyricist, composer & producer to scout as their trainees. 5th gen just started yet they already have promising idols within idols who are musically inclined & is good within applying literacy works through songwriting but their vocals is in the same position as 4th gen where tone is much more praised while the technicalities are ignored. Again, 5th gen just started but I can foresee that their vocals will pretty much be their weakests compared to dancing & might as well as they also have promising rappers & as always, have professional level dancers.

not true... idols are still getting a lot of training, actually based on the amount of new groups debuting yearly its actually increasing as if you look at those groups and see how much experience and training they have... the only difference now is the results are clear, popular idols have the x factor and that is what companies are looking for more than ever before. there are hundreds of idols debuting each generation and the amount of training and quality is not dipping but the ones that goes popular changes every generation as well so the formula for success changes along with the idols that gets popular.

6:18 "Many newer group seem to lack the vocal power, dance skills or stage presence..." While focusing on Unis' Gehlee??? It seems you lacked your research there. Unis has strong vocal lineup with 2 main vocals and 2 leads and the group has lot of videos proving they can sing live. Gehlee can sing as she has a couple of livestreams pre and post debut of her singing acapella. Would any idol you mentioned who lacked vocals dare do that on a livestream? In Universe Ticket, the PD's were happy with her singing and rich vocal tone enough they gave her the MOST lines in Nan (so much for not being able to sing). While it's true that Gehlee has obvious dancing struggles on debut, on their first comeback that's barely noticeable. She didnt debut polished because she didnt have a kpop idol training before joining the survival show but the judges and audience saw a potential, a potential she lived up to now. Gehlee is more than JUST a visual.
Hahahaha from when ? I saw the survival show some of you choose this high eye because of her nationality and we all can see her dancing ….. her dancing is so bad and stage presence she don’t have it and she is not idol material I agree with her with that one
You could argue that removing the visual factor, a lot of trainees sang and danced better than Gehlee. True, but those trainees doesn't have more stage presence than her. Universe Ticket judges often comment of her innate stage presence that makes her stand out even if she is just standing still in a group lineup. Many talented idols are barely noticed because they lack that. Not all visuals have that. Stage presence is talent.
