I feel like the more you make friends with your villagers, the more they get the thought bubble, though...
You get the one that gives you gifts more often i believe.
If your friendship is higher with them, they're more likely to give you a gift instead of asking to move out
The bubbles can be free gifts, a change of their catchphrase, a change of your nickname, or wanting to move out. The higher the friendship, the more things you can do with them, and the lower the chance the bubble is wanting to move.
If I recall correctly, either max or minimum friendship will increase chances of a move out bubble.

The higher your friendship gets with a villager the closer you are to a frame photo, the game doesn’t want this to be to easy so they put an obstacle in the way!

I've found that you can transfer the thought bubble on the same day by hitting the villager with the thought bubble once with the bug net. They immediately stop thinking and the bubble will transfer to someone else on the same day. This works for me every time.
I’ve been trying to get Audie in boxes so I can give her to a friend for about 15 hours. No matter what method I use I can’t get her to move out, and I’m going insane. Hopefully this will help
Edit: That’s it, I’m done. This is what happens when I try to do something nice. I tried for around 9 hours yesterday to get that damn wolf to leave and had no luck. I’ve done so much research as to why she might not want to leave, and I haven’t found anything. I finally cracked and bought the amiibo card of the villager I want. Now all that’s left to do is wait...4 more days.

I feel like your guides are never as clear and thorough as they could be. I'm confused.
First, you mention jumping 30 days. But why do you jump back from June 28 to May 26? Any specific reason?
Second, in a previous video you mentioned how the thought bubble does not seem to appear on Saturdays when KK Slider is in town. Is this not a thing anymore?
Third, how many days should I keep checking if the thought bubble transferred and when do I consider jumping 30 days again?
So far my gf and I have been time-travelling to kick out villagers using the 15 day method. It does NOT take 10 minutes unless you forgot to mention things in these guides. As of right now, I have spent the past 9 hours trying to kick out Bubbles. I had 2 new villagers move in after her and also had 1 villager move out after she moved in. I hardly interacted with her and even pushed her around. When I check consecutive days to see if the bubble transfers, it seems to cap at 3 days for some reason and then I stop seeing it unless I jump another 15 days or so.
Indeed this guide is not thought trough.
There is a lot of stuff to debunk.
- The friendship rating does NOT affect the chance to a certain villager to move. Friendly event thoughtbubbles is unrelated to the moving thoughtbubble. No need to bully villagers. It is still random.
- I guess the 30 days thing is a guarantee to find a “someone wanna move out”-day. After that, 15 days TT back and forth is just enough. Or 1 day at a time forward as the thoughtbubble of moving keeps transferring day after day. This is new behavior for New Horizons veterans aren’t used to.
I think he jumped back to May because he didn’t want to be too far in the future.
I’ve used this method a few times and had it work for me but you’re right- it doesn’t work every time and isn’t usually a 10 minute ordeal for me but I do normally get a villager out who I don’t want.

Yeah, I don't really understand what he's suggesting. His narration is unclear and it's made even more confusing when his actions don't line up with what he's saying. It's not a very helpful guide.
For those who have turnips here's a tip:
Your turnips will not spoil AS LONG AS YOU DONT OVERLAP PLAYING TIME
So every time you stop playing, note the switch time (say 8:05 am)
Every time you start playing again, set the clock back to the time you wrote down, just add a few minutes to be safe (say 8:08 am)
(Optional) On the day you can start hunting, start at 5am for maximum hunting time

if i time travel into the future, will any events that were supposed to happen have already happened if that makes sense? like for example if i start time traveling the day before nooks cranny got updated when i come back to the present date will nooks cranny already be open?

Good advice. Indeed this works. Technically this is not traveling backwards for the game. The game calculate the progressed time passed at the moment you start up your save file coming back to it. Easy manipulated.
I used to note down the latest date I played New Leaf the last time. Coming back a half year later I continue the game set on the date just the day after, and my villager think I never left.
Most for the record of avoiding villagers from moving. In that game, only the days you called out a villager who wants to move to stay, is a safe date to TT forward long time distances. In New Horizons however, this is not an issue at all.
after excessively trying things out I can say: you're right - most of the time.
things that i recognize can differ or are also helping is:
1. The Villager you want to kick out isn't always outside at a given time. 2 Villager right now for me are either in or out of their home - randomly at the same time.
2. You don't need to skip one day forward. Maybe it can help, but I've found that the bubble also can reposition on another one just with close and restart. (though I don't know if it you need to hear isabelle talking or just close and load at the same time).
3. If you want to get a visitor from the camp to move in but don't want a beloved one to move out, reload the game and talk to it again. This (it seem like) randomly changes the one who needs to move out for the new one to move in.
The game automatically replaces them. 🤬
This helps me out so much, I don’t time skip and I really want phil to leave, but now I know that he won’t leave until like the 2nd of June because of the cool down thing.

I know this isn't well known, but you can get the though bubble to show up by either saving and going back in the game or using the Call resident app- It sort of refreshes the game every time and will get the bubble to show up if you couldn't find one that day- I've done this and I've been able to usually find the bubble rather quickly! Hope this helps someone!
Edit: Sorry if I wasn't really clear in my explanation! The Call Resident App only works if you have another resident on the island (The alternative would be just saving and then going back in game, but call resident is faster)- You must also have the move out bubble already going around, but you can also use it to find the villager with the bubble- This method doesn't transfer the bubble onto another villager sadly (I've tried this), but all you have to do is wait a day or go forward in time and the bubble will move onto another villager! Hope this clears up somethings!

yea this didn't work for me. it just saves the game, which means you have to start the whole process over again of skipping forward a month and going back
I'm best friends with Rex. He was my third villager. I keep getting the moving-out bubbles back and forth over Vesta who just recently became my best friend and Sylvana who is my 2nd newest villager. I don't want to abuse my villagers because even though they're only data, I'd feel bad. The emotional trauma of seeing Rex cry isn't worth it :'(

hi! thanks so much for this video! after time traveling to 26 days and having to stop my favs from moving 5 times, i finally got one of the villagers i hate to leave! now i have an empty plot to fill. i did have a lot of days with no thought bubble, but other than that i had no issues. oh, i didn't know that the weeds and such from time travel would still be there when you go back... lief is gonna be happy to see me! anyway just wanted to give a testimonial just in case people are scouring the comments for facts.

ok so there was this one villager i really liked so i talked to them like 10 times a day because i thought it would make out friendship stronger. after like a week of talking to them non-stop a day, they eventually got i guess annoyed and wanted to leave. to test out my theory even more, i tried it on another one of my favorite villagers. i didn't use the one i didn't like just incase it backfired and our friendship got stronger. and guess what... they wanted to leave too. im currently using it on the villager i dont like. its been a few days and im pretty sure its working!
if you wanna try this out, i would suggest doing it on one villager that you really like just incase it doesnt work for you. if they wanna leave just say you dont want them too, or you can leave them alone (while they have the thought bubble) and wait for the thought bubble to go to someone else.

It is my understanding that thought bubbles where villagers gift you items, challenge you to find treasure, and etc. are random events and are unrelated to the moving thought bubble. Also the only thought bubbles that occur for the first hour or so after loading your island for the day will be villagers wanting to move

I had a thought bubble yesterday iirc. and they wanted to sell me something and I have one villager rn I'm waiting on them asking to leave so I wanted to know if going through that non-move thought bubble, would activate the timer (or any sort of timer) on a move thought bubble.
Indeed, my experience as well they’re unrelated events of thought bubbles. Likewise, it is completely fine to talk to all thoughtbubble villagers and find out. If you call out a villager to stay, you won’t loose the thoughtbubble for moving. There will still be a thoughtbubble villager for moving the next day. Or by TT 15 days back and forth.

This is the method I tried after several unsuccessful attempts searching for a new villager (I had Quillson in boxes so 24hrs to fill his spot). Time was up and Phil 😒 moved in and replaced my recently departed Quillson. The same day Phil moved in I fenced him in, I also didn’t speak to him. A day later I had a campsite visitor, Peanut ☺️. We played the card game and Phil was the suggested villager to boot out. Job done ✅
ANOTHER TIP: to save time, talk to every villager except the one you want to move out BEFORE doing the trick. That way there's a way higher chance of getting the thought bubble you want the first try. Its worked for me since the beginning

From what I have gotten from other streams of his, he does not know how they work. I haven't heard him say anything else about it, so I'm guessing they have yet to find out.
I share your frustration on this. I’ve been playing NH since day of release (like most people!) and I FINALLY had my first meteor shower two days ago. I’ve been so annoyed because even though I got the recipes for the Aries and Taurus items, I couldn’t build them because I’ve just been relying on very few, very infrequent shooting stars. But two nights ago I got my first proper shower since release and I’ve been able to make the Gemini item. It’s just a shame they’re not more regular :(
I have never had a meteor shower at all and I've had the game since launch!
I’ve only had one night with an official meteor shower, but my island often has shooting stars on clear nights!
Even if you don’t get one on your island and you have a friend who happens to be having one that day, go to their island and wish on the stars anyway! The fragments will wash up on your beach the next day! I don’t usually play during the night so I haven’t had one since I started playing but this was handy for me to know :)
I haven’t had anything said by data miners happen to me. The birthday thing isn’t true. Ellie asked me to leave 2 days after her birthday. The second cool down isn’t true either. After I said no to Ellie, Klaus asked me to leave 3 days later. But I find your campsite method works well!
If you don’t address the villager with the thought bubble, it’ll just move to someone else
Should I go to the next day for it to switch to someone else then?
Well yes. But it is a false belief that it won’t continue if you actually go talks to them. To debunks this:
- It is perfectly fine to go talk to thoughtbubble villagers and check out their intention.
- If it is the villager, who have the move thought, it is just fine to tell them to stay. The moving thoughtbubble will continue to someone else the next day!
- A new cool down of 15 days only occur after a villager have moved, not after a villager have been denied to move.
- Wrong call out in this video many commments here: friendly exchange thoughtbubbles is unrelated events and doesn’t effect the outcome who is more willing to move. Many experience high friendship rated villagers to want to move just as often as the ones with low friend rates.
In the end. It is just inconvenient to avoid the thoughtbubble villagers. As you won’t know their intention and missing out other events unrelated to moving.
Regarding the thought bubble, perhaps this was a fluke on my system but I got the thought bubble on a villager I didn't want to move so I actually saved and quit the game right there and reloaded and the thought bubble appeared on a different villager I was okay with leaving so I talked to them and they left. All on the same day.

I don't want him to leave, so I closed the game and didn't talk to him for the rest of the day. Today Pinky had the bubble and even though she was my 2nd most recent villager that moved in, I decided to let her her go. So thank you again!

[Long post, but I tried my best to list out the steps I took that worked for me today, as someone who TT for the first time ever]
I was watching this because I screwed up by placing a plot of land (my 10th aka last plot) THE DAY BEFORE my friend had one of his villagers in boxes (and it was a villager that I wanted). So that was yesterday. Today, the plot of land ended up being sold to a villager that ANOTHER friend of mine had previously kicked out and randomly moved to my island.
As someone who never TT before, I decided to use this day as my first and probably only time I would ever TT lol. After a few hours + watching this video (and the previous TagbackTV video on kicking out a villager), I figured out what finally worked for me:
Note: I wanted either Renee or Gladys to move out.
Step 1: fast forward to tomorrow (so today is 6/11 and it was about 1:30pm). Look for a villager with a thought bubble. I fast forwarded to 6/12 without changing the time (I only changed the time later on because I noticed that the Renee/Gladys out of their houses around early noon).
Step 2: I did not find any villager with a thought bubble, so I fast fowarded another day to 6/13 to check. I saw Derwin with a thought bubble - he wanted to move out, but I wanted him to stay so I closed the game WITHOUT saving and BEFORE I finished that conversation with him. - aka I actually clicked X on the home screen of the switch without saving the game.
Step 3: Fastforward ANOTHER DAY (to 6/14 now) to check for villagers with a thought bubble. NO THOUGHT BUBBLES!! So I kept fastforwarding one day at a time until I saw a villager with a thought bubble who was asking to leave. On 6/25, I finally saw Gladys with a thought bubble. I spoke to her, and she wanted to move out so I let her.
Step 4: When you find the villager you want gone asking to leave, you finish that conversation, SAVE AND END.
Step 5: TT to the next day so that the villager is in boxes. So for me, it was 6/26. SAVE AND END again.
Step 6: If you're like me, who wants to TT back to real-time, so that we're back in the no TT business, set the date and time back to YESTERDAY. So in my case, 6/10. You will find that the villager will still be in boxes. SAVE AND END yet again.
Step 7: TT back to real-time now (6/11). The villager's house will be gone and the plot of land will be empty. You can use this time to hunt for your dreamy with NMT or, in my case, go to my friend's island to speak to the villager that is in boxes lol.
My takeaways are this:
* Keep fastfowarding ONE day at a time. Every time you fastforward, go back to the game to click the minus button and then SAVE AND END (so that you don't have to keep closing the game then re-opening it) UNLESSSSSS the villager you don't want to leave is asking to move out.
* Check around your island for thought bubbles on villagers every time
* If you find a villager who you do not want to leave asking to move out, close the game (actually go home and press the X button on the game) WITHOUT SAVING and BEFORE FINISHING THE CONVERSATION
* Change the TIME with the date if you find that the villager you want OUT is only outside of their home at certain times of the day
Comments:
* The befriending villagers thing seems to make sense because the villagers that were initially asking to move out were ones that I didn't give as many gifts to (compared to my other villagers). BUT they were also villagers that never asked to move out before.
* I only took a few hours because I think I messed up some of the instructions that Tagback TV was giving because I got confused in the beginning.
* I hope this helps people who are doing this for the first time!
* If this doesn't take you too long, you might find that you didn't need to change the time every time you TT. I only changed my time in later steps because this took me a few hours, and I found that any time after 2pm, Renee was back inside her home)
* In case you're wondering, you can either close the game on the home screen every time you set the new time. That takes longer though, so I did what TAGBACK TV did, which was go to home screen - settings - set new date/time - go back to game - minus button - save and end.
If you reach step 4, definitely make sure you go to step 5 and double check that your villager is in boxes! SAVE AND END! Then you can proceed to TT backwards to a day before real-time so that the villager is STILL IN BOXES, and then save. TT back to real-time so that the plot of land will be empty. If you do not plan on searching for a new villager TODAY, then at step 6, you can just TT to a day before you plan on searching. You can also let the day pass and just have a random villager take over the plot of land, if that's your vibe.
I'm my experience, if it's the first time of the day that you have seen a villager and it has a thought bubble, it'll be because they want to move out.
I did get one later at night after I had already talked to a villager too though.
@@queenkatara7861 sometimes they can move from one village to another in the same day ! or if you spoke to the villager inside their house bc eg. they were crafting, it only works when you see them outside for the first time. so either you spoke to them in their house and they got the thought bubble when they left, or it was on another villager who you either missed or was outside then in their house, and then it switched !
Not my experience, I almost never get one first in the morning, always early to mid afternoon
em coates I mean that would make sense, but I’m pretty sure I saw them outside and talked to them outside. Also a couple of days ago, a villager asked me to move out, I closed the game without saving, his thought bubble went away, I talked to him regularly, and he got the thought bubble at night again. Idk
This is a good idea for when I eventually kick out Stitches and Marina. I didn't know they could move onto friends islands. I know someone will defo want Stitches. I'm aiming for a cat only island. 5 down so far....
I am really trying to get rid of Kidd, he just randomly moved in because I forgot an animal moves in within a day I believe. Edit: I finally got rid of Kidd after a bunch of tries! If anyone wants him just hit me up on discord!

Kidd is surprisingly polarizing. I am on the dislike Kidd side.
If you have people visit, they'll move in the next day. It'll usually be a villager they recently had leave. If you don't visit or have villagers, it should be more days. I've had it last as long as 4 days of no move-ins
If Kidd just moved in, it'll be very hard to kick him out. Nearly impossible.

Idk man... I've only ever gotten move-out thought bubbles on villagers I have a HIGH friendship level with. I'll purposely not talk to one of them for days, and then the one who wants to move out is the one I give gifts to every day and talk to all the time. Maybe I'm just really unlucky and the algorithm hates me.
You can also talk to your villagers like 10+ times in 1 day, it annoys them and helps bring your friendship level down so they’re more inclined to want to move out.
I can confirm that the villager that moved in the most recently can NOT get moved out. I spent hours trying to move out Roald but he never got the bubble. I moved him out with the campsite method.
oh how many times ive seen the thought bubble and been like "YES HES GONNA MOVE" then he gives me a gift im like "Oh."

It took me *236* NMT to get Raymond. I was up at midnight grinding off of tickets and spending them. *Lets just say I got a few hours of sleep*
i had admiral for like a day and i time traveled two days ahead (not even trying to get rid of him, although i didn’t want him in the first place) and he already had a thought bubble and moved out a while later so that was cool
Every time I talk to one of my villagers with the bubble they always just try to sell me stuff and never ask to move out literally one villigar has left and I’ve played since April HELP ME!

Without time traveling, thats a fairly normal rate for them to move out.
I’ve literally had a villager have his birthday one day and advise me he was moving the next day and was in boxes 2 days after his birthday

Thanks for this Tag! I really need to get rid of Rocket and Tank, and Ava and Jacob. Just got Whitney when she randomly showed up at my campsite a couple days ago. It came at a cost though. My beloved little Static left. (He had asked to move before and I said no. And I said no when Resident Services suggested him to Whitney since my island is full. When it suggested him for the 3rd time I said ok I'd let him go. He must still have some roaming around to do. He just doesn't know that I'll eventually hunt him down again, or kidnap him via amiibo card haha!) Rocket and Tank were my two that moved in with me, and Ava and Jacob were part of my original 5. Only one of those has left. Is it harder for some reason to get these ones to leave? I'm wondering, since I'm gathering up my dream crew in my mind lol. And I'm FINALLY working on my island appearance!

Tag, I'm so sorry that you've been having to deal with the constant doubt and questioning regarding kicking out villagers, despite you repeatedly PROVING that your methods are not only effective but consistently accurate, further proving their efficacy. I'm also so sorry about all of the negativity you receive and must deal with in regards to how you do or don't treat your villagers. Those of us who actually watch your content and pay attention know that you love your villagers, as well as the hunt for new villagers, and that you've shown time after time how incredibly easy it is to kick out a villager, doing so each day, often multiple times a day, so that you can create AWESOME CONTENT for all of us. In fact, now that you're so close to having your current desired set of villagers, you're going even further in your efforts for us, your islands, and your villagers... And WE GREATLY APPRECIATE IT AND YOU!!!! 💚💜💚💜
I've tried watching other ACNH content creators, but none of them come anywhere close to you (Tag, Sr. Waffle, Waffle Jr., Sr. Waff... And more!) for me (in the quantity of truly quality content with your unique brand of comedic sincerity) and I sincerely appreciate every single thing you do for us. I don't understand how people still doubted and/or didn't understand your methods when you could and would successfully perform and explain it within 10-15 minutes while streaming and keeping up with chat and the distractions those bring!
Forget the naysayers and trolls and just know that you and your content (ACNH & more!) means the world to so many of us... From people like me, bedridden and alone most of the time, to those who are coming off of hellish shifts and just need to "get away" from their reality for a while, and all the rest that fall somewhere between, around, and upside down. Another important thing is you have to have at least 6 villagers for any will move out.

I've had no one move into an open plot for 2 or 3 days in a row. It was surprising. I ended up getting somebody from an island to fill the spot.
I'm so confused my favs which I talk to everyday and give them gifts are the only ones who get that thought bubble(leaving)- im on week 3 and Muffy has asked to leave 3 times, chèvre 4, Sherb 3 times, Merry twice! it doesn't make sense
same!!!! i had gladys and she asked straight up two days in a row!!!!!! vesta who i wanted to leave would have thought bubbles but ALWAYS gave gifts but i never talk to her and was rly good friends with gladys so idk
I had both high and Low friendship levels asking to leave... i thought it was random but apparently not? :/
Tag said its because you are best friends and the game wants to circle in new villagers. You have to either lower the friendship down to zero or max it out.
If a villager you don’t want to move out asks you to move out. Don’t click the option to stay. Just close the application and reboot the game. Then a different villager might have the thought bubble.

All I do is time travel until someone is at my campsite and then just soft reset my game until they choose to take the place of the villager I don't want on my island.
Seriously, I’ve found the best method is to just talk to them a couple times a day for the first few days they’re on your island, then don’t talk to them at all. Usually, they’ll want to move out in under a week
Does it have to be the first few days or can you do it randomly (say a a few weeks after they move in) then ignore them
As usual, a lot of talk and approximations with TagBackTV. So let me save you 15 minutes:
Travel 30 days later, save your game and quit the game. Time travel back 30 days earlier, Isabelle shouldn't be saying anything as it will consider that it is the same day still. From there, you have 3 minutes to find the villager you want to see out before the game automatically saves.
If you cannot find this villager OR the bubble is on another villager, quit the game without saving, time skip one day, and do that process again until the bubble is on the villager you want to see leave.
Done.
100% accurate, usually done between 10 and 30 minutes based on luck, no more than that.

two things: curlos asked to move out a day or two after his birthday in my town. before the latest update, but seems like the seven day wait isn't true. also, willow asked to move out on her first day out of boxes on my island. so the newest villager at least used to be able to ask to move out

Knowing that your newest villager asked to move, that gave me hope DX I’ve been trying to kick out my glitched cherry for like 3 hours
I had 2 newest villagers, that I had never even spoken to (also I fenced their houses so they live in separation and never socialize with anyone), they moved out after a week or two. So I'm not quite sure if it really doesn't work.

Hi! i found a really easy way to get rid of villagers you do not want!!!!, it is done with time travelling so keep in mind!.
First to get rid of villagers you have to talk to them, but usually you talk to every villager on your island, so when you time skip 15 days forward, the bubble appears to a completely random villager.
To avoid that, i recommend to you making a second account and with this character ONLY talk to the villager you want gone and then time travel 15 days forward (with the same second account).
With this method you will make sure that the bubble appears only in the villager you want out. if the villager runs towards you wanting to talk, just ignore them and time travel again.

I'm gonna try to get him back eventually because I know I won't get Audie because I have Tangy, so unless she somehow pops up in my camp or I get her with my single Nook Miles Ticket I won't get her. Audie is a very popular and sought after villager, so I'm going to buy Chief back.
So I'm trying to kick out my most recent move in villager, I've had him for a week now and spent days time traveling to kick him out but he never got a thought bubble once, everyone else got it like 8 times but never once
I just tried this and it didn't help. One of my faves kept trying to move out. Even when I time traveled.
It works although oddly. I got fauna as a camper so i considered that a win then when i jumped back go my time and woke up the next day an hour or so into my session Midge asked to leave
