I kind of get your sentiment, but I don't think you've thought it through. If being an MP only paid minimum wage only people with independent means, or being sponsored by someone with money, could afford to stand for government and become an MP. Surely it would be better to have a system where anyone could afford to stand for government and carry out the duties of an MP without needing external (and potentially corrupting) financial support?
That way people who genuinely represent the majority of citizens could realistically stand against the likes of the very wealthy Sunak.

He's so proud of the 5p a litre fuel duty cut isn't he? The poorest people, the people who can't afford to heat and eat, those who are at their wits end and desperate, don't drive cars Rishi. They will have no benefit from this. They needed more UC benefit or a massive cap on domestic fuel price, which would have benefited us all. Even both, so that no-one is so miserable and depressed that they can't enjoy life. But what would a man who's wife is richer than the Queen know about how it feels to be desperate for money. Would that money come from Corbyn or Starmer's Magic Money Tree?
Even DURING the pandemic, every single money expert in the media was already predicting taxes would have to go up considerably to pay for all that extra debt due to furlough money paid by the government for millions of UK residents. Now you act surprised that taxes are going up.
I am also negatively affected by the tax hike, but honestly this was to be expected... The pandemic and millions of businesses shut down during lockdowns caused a massive financial hit to our economy. Let's not forget, the economy is a mess because of the Tory Govt of the last decade. They pursued austerity with fanaticism because admitting it was wrong was never going to happen, so doubling down is the only option. You have no desire to fix it, because "you" (intentionally) broken it.

The economy was doing very well until the pandemic and successive lockdowns (which the majority of public approved of those lockdowns) and trillions of pounds that were BORROWED by the government from our central bank to be spent on paying people's wages on furlough for over a year and a half.
Do you think that enormous debt would just pay itself, without any tax increases? Even DURING the pandemic, every economy expert was already predicting taxes would have to go up considerably to pay for all that enormous spending during all the lockdowns. And now you people (and Labour) actually act shocked and surprised. Get a brain, please.

No doubt if he cuts Income tax around the GE and they win a few months later he'll raise VAT. They're always finding ways to tax us more, and the worst part is the Conservatives don't even spend it on public services so we never even get the benefits of higher taxes.
