I haven't properly edited gameplay like this into my videos in many many years... it's been so long since I felt that feeling of being satisfied with all the hours put into the finished video. Could this be the start to rekindling a flame in my desire to edit videos? We'll see if it's worth it. I hope the gameplay helps in your purchasing decisions!
Odo Odo Oddity looks amazing and I'm definitely going to check it out. I appreciated the game play clips for this one because I knew of none of these games. I would have been lost without footage. Keep up the ps1 content (or any content really) and I'll keep watching.
Great vid Pete, it really helped to see the gameplay for this one. Ten Made Jack looks really interesting, and I'm glad to see you recommend Kaze No Notam! The OST to that game is still in my regular rotation of music
Absolutely wonderful to see you making videos again! Talking to a camera is good on its own, but showing game play as well is the cherry on top! I look forward to seeing more recommendations of obscure games I've never heard of, just like the good old days. Also, regarding "Ten Made Jack", the title means something like "Jack all the way to the heavens" (subtitle: "The bewildering great death climb up the bean stalk"), and the "ma" and "de" are pronounced seperately. Signed, some dude who spent four years learning japanese and feels the need to flex.
I think you added the gameplay clips in very well. Helps a lot for deciding to check the games out later. I love your channel and streams for these deep dives into videogame obscurities. So keep it up 👍
Really love the added gameplay, definitely helps seeing the visuals associated with the games, especially obscure ones with almost no video available online.
Honestly I'd love to see a video on Japanese only RPGs regardless of how much text they might have. Also good call on putting some game footage into this video. The weirder a game is the harder it is to get a clear idea of what it is based on a description alone.
I have been collecting more ps1 Japanese games lately, so thank you for this video! I’m looking forward to more of this. Bring on the Japanese ps2 stuff!😁
Dendoh is my childhood! It is really fun even tho you can't play 2 players I recently tried Lucifer Ring and Kaze no Notam, Lucifer Ring is simple but great gameplay, and Notam is really relaxing but hard to master And others look cool too! Thanks for the recommendation! Looking forward for more PS1 games contents!!
I have Lucifer Ring! Here are some other honorable mentions: Aconcagua Baby Universe The Adventures of Robin Lloyd Blaze & Blade: Busters Boku no Natsuyasumi Boundary Gate (super good and overlooked!) Critical Blow Deep Freeze Gekisou Tomarunner Lup Salad Genei Tougi Rurouni Kenshin: Ishin Gekitouhen Love Love Truck Soukaigi Silent Mobius Welcome House 2 Wonder Trek Racing Lagoon Tiny Bullets
I just recently picked up Kaze No Notam and I can't wait to try it when it arrives. I've also had Ten Made Jack on my wishlist for a while so I'll have to grab it at some point. Lots of great recommendations here. There are such a small amount of videos on import PS1/PS2 stuff on TH-cam so love seeing this.
pete is the best collector channel on youtube. been watching him over 7yrs now. unlike everyone else. his content is from the heart. not just "hey im a youtuber that gets everything sent to me"
You've spoiled us with three of these great videos in one week, Pete! And your picks are excellent--I'm so glad Kaze no Notam got some love! I've yet to pick up a copy but I've put on the soundtrack many times over the past couple of years. I hope you're having a great day!
Honestly I’m really happy to see you back and making videos at this level of output again. I’ve been following you on TH-cam for at least a decade. I’ve popped into a few streams but it’s really not my preferred entertainment medium. So seeing you make videos again has been awesome. Keep it up.
I'm looking for Japan exclusive PS1 games as we speak, I really recommend the PSIO, I've been having a blast and currently have all the PAL exclusives but am missing out on some Japan exclusives, thanks for the recommendations Pete!
Ah, looks like Gear Fighter Dendoh was based off an anime from the early 2000’s. Hopefully playing some of your recommendations will help me improve my Japanese knowledge. Thanks! 👍
Ten made Jack I've gotten 2/3 through. I like the game but boy does it get rough. Though I hope next video highlights a favorite of mine, Fist of the North Star.
Huge thanks for this. I'm currently on a PS1 'kick' thanks to the new(ish) MiSTer core, and am hugely interested in titles that I haven't played to death 20+ years ago.
Finally! Someone talks about Odo Odo Oddity! Such a weird and interesting game with awesome music, stages and art that NOBODY talks about! I found my copy by chance and I love it despite the difficulty. Also Ten Made Jack is awesome as well!
Really enjoy this content man. I love learning about lesser known imports. I have pretty solid Famicom, MD, Sufami, and Saturn import libraries, but import PS1 is pretty unexplored, so this is really educational. Definitely going to pick up Gear Fighter Dendoh asap.
So happy your back regularly pete .been a fan for a few years and always watch your older videos but these new ones are just as good if not better .keep being you pete .never lose sight of that 💙🙂
The cover art for Kaze No Notam is a beautiful piece by artist Hiroshi Nagai. I LOVE his art style! I'm not sure this piece was made just for the game but it's very similar to the one he made for Max Romeo's "Loving You" in 1983 or Naoya Matsuoka's "September Wind" also in 1983. Another 80s Japanese illustrator with a similar, but more detailed art style is Eizin Suzuki. They're the two big names when it comes to 80s LP cover art in the city pop / jazz fusion music genre. Eizin Suzuki is well known these days for the cover art he did for Tatsuro Yamashita's "For You" in 1982.
I like seeing retro games that I've never seen before, so thanks for these videos. I think the days when I aspired to collect games like this myself are well over now though - the prices are just too crazy now.
Thank you for the content Pete I really enjoy these types of videos. I’ve been recently exploring Japan PS1 imports and one of my favorites is Groove Jigoku V, a Warioware type mini game compilation that’s essentially the predecessor to Work Time Fun for PSP. There’s a lot of games you covered that I haven’t discovered yet!
Great video Pete! Definitely going to be on the look out for a few of these over the next few weeks. Especially Odo Odo oddity and kaze no notam. Ten made jack though....I can't handle that music! 😂
Thanks for the video, would love to see more as its cool to collect jpn imports to me. Sadly so many of them are expensive nowadays like you said haha.
Wow seems like Pete is back again! :D Absolute legend of TH-cam and video game related vlogging. Glad to see you brother, thanks to you I started collecting video games for real :)
Honestly I seen some of your vids and I always appreciate hidden gems and obscure stuff to add to my collection. But having to open another window to see the gameplay was annoying. I'm glad you included gameplay and More so import friendly games. I've pretty much rounded out my collection so now I'm looking more into the Japanese market. Keep these vids coming. Subbed
Thanks Pete for the first game recommendation! I adore single lane beat 'em ups (Ninja Warriors and the like) as I find a lot of the popular ones frustrating because you have to get your 'alignment' just right; which I find takes away from the pure fun you can have with just pulling off combos. The one you recommended looks like if Treasure made a single lane mech fighter instead of Guardian Heros. it looks beautiful. I will be sure to check it out.
Its crazy how some amazing games only came out in Japan. My top 3 Japan exclusive games for the ps1 are: Kitchen Panic, Nekketsu Oyako and Fist of the North Star.
TH-cam read my mind recommending me this video. I just received King’s Field 3 in the mail, my first import PS1 game, and I was thinking how I’d like to know some games I could play without knowing how to read Japanese. Very shortly after that thought, I hopped on TH-cam and this was the first video shown. Thank you for this, I’d love to see videos with more recommendations.
This is great! Hopefully you continue this into a series, maybe with PS2 as well. Really appreciate the great video and the inclusion of gameplay footage.
more of these videos please, been watching for years and imports im very fresh on. some cool looking titles here. thanks for taking the time and making content.
Love you, brother
Great job. Can you do some in-depth reviews?
OG viewer since i was like 13 back in the day here and man I'm really glad to see you back again!
I love the added game footage. Super appreciate that. Definitely could watch tons of these recent videos. Learning a lot. Thanks so much Pete.
Love Gear Fighter! 👍
I've been watching your video since I was around 15 years old; I'm 25 now and super happy to see you still kind of making videos. Cheers!
7:04 this game reminds me of walking home from the bar
Gameplay moves these videos into must watch
I love these old school style videos - keep them coming 👍🏻👍🏻
Many of these videos? Hell yes! Can’t wait for more!
I just love the look of PS1 and early PS2 era games it felt so special and magical
Pete you are spoiling us with all these videos
I will def check them out. A Xbox 360 Hidden Gems Video would be nice
great video once again. I want a copy of Kaze no notam. these more relaxing games are a nice addition for sure.
I love the vibe of these games you picked, really cool games.
I really enjoyed that! I love how your video are more old school no gimmicks just goox talk and informative
Always a nice surpirse to see an upload from you Pete!!!
Odo Odo Oddity looks amazing and I'm definitely going to check it out. I appreciated the game play clips for this one because I knew of none of these games. I would have been lost without footage. Keep up the ps1 content (or any content really) and I'll keep watching.
TYSM FOR SUCH AN INCREDIBLE VIDEO PETE, ILL KEEP WATCHING ANY VIDEO YOU UPLOAD
thanks for the gameplay footage, these look amazing!
really considering looking into ps1 japan imports now
Very nice. Dendoh is a fun game, played it one or twice.
This series should be named "A small selection from my Collection"
I was just hoping that you added some gameplay to these videos. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
Great vid Pete, it really helped to see the gameplay for this one. Ten Made Jack looks really interesting, and I'm glad to see you recommend Kaze No Notam! The OST to that game is still in my regular rotation of music
I appreciate these videos because just the US PS1 library is great. Adding the imports opens it up even more. :)
Pete, I LOVE these kinds of videos!! Do a Japanese PS2 one!!! 💜💜💜
This is why I watch you here and Twitch. Awesome video!
Very much appreciate the gameplay footage. Definitely enjoying these
Learned a ton in this video! Would love to see more imports across PS1 and other consoles. Thanks so much!
These old ps1 games just have a unique feel love it
I know it is more work for you but I really like it that you included gameplay this time
These kinds of videos are why I’ve been following you since 2008/09. Great content, Pete. I’ll be tracking some of these down for sure.
Thanks for putting in the hard work with the edit. This was a joy to watch
Awesome. It's so nice being able to see these obscure games' footage in the video.
OH NO! aka Back to the Future for NES if it were playable
Thank you so much for making these videos.
Absolutely wonderful to see you making videos again! Talking to a camera is good on its own, but showing game play as well is the cherry on top! I look forward to seeing more recommendations of obscure games I've never heard of, just like the good old days.

Really love the added gameplay, definitely helps seeing the visuals associated with the games, especially obscure ones with almost no video available online.
Love all the gameplay all new games for me so great to see how they play!
Honestly I'd love to see a video on Japanese only RPGs regardless of how much text they might have. Also good call on putting some game footage into this video. The weirder a game is the harder it is to get a clear idea of what it is based on a description alone.
In Oh Ho it seems that in 8:02 two men choose to go women's (onna) side instead of men's (otoko) side 🙂. Great to see not so well known games!
I have been collecting more ps1 Japanese games lately, so thank you for this video! I’m looking forward to more of this. Bring on the Japanese ps2 stuff!😁
Controversial, but overall I like PS1 more than PS2
The PS1/Saturn/N64 generation has always been my favourite. Thank you so much for making these videos.
Dendoh is my childhood! It is really fun even tho you can't play 2 players
I recently tried Lucifer Ring and Kaze no Notam, Lucifer Ring is simple but great gameplay, and Notam is really relaxing but hard to master

Pleaaaasse do more of these. I’ve never heard of any of these games and I thought i had pretty good knowledge of the ps1 library but I guess not lol
Would love the import Rpgs video aswell aswell any other genre.
Nice video. These Japanese PS1 games all look/play uniquely in their own way. Japan got some really experimental games. Also nice job on the editing.
pete is the best collector channel on youtube. been watching him over 7yrs now. unlike everyone else. his content is from the heart. not just "hey im a youtuber that gets everything sent to me"
Great video Pete. I think a PS2 Japanese import video would be good since it’s backwards compatible with the ps1 games you’re covering 🤙
Pete those videos are a goldmine! Im so happy you decided to make these :) Please make more!
You've spoiled us with three of these great videos in one week, Pete! And your picks are excellent--I'm so glad Kaze no Notam got some love! I've yet to pick up a copy but I've put on the soundtrack many times over the past couple of years. I hope you're having a great day!

Thanks for getting me into retro gaming/collecting Pete
Ten made Jack I've gotten 2/3 through. I like the game but boy does it get rough. Though I hope next video highlights a favorite of mine, Fist of the North Star.
Huge thanks for this. I'm currently on a PS1 'kick' thanks to the new(ish) MiSTer core, and am hugely interested in titles that I haven't played to death 20+ years ago.
Love this video! Keep it up Pete!!

Great video I have a Japanese ps2 so I’m always looking for more playable Japanese ps1 and ps2 games.
So happy your back regularly pete .been a fan for a few years and always watch your older videos but these new ones are just as good if not better .keep being you pete .never lose sight of that 💙🙂
I finally found your channel again! Noice.

Would love to see a dozen of these vids. I have over 100 imports but none of these, think I missed the boat on these price wise however.
I like seeing retro games that I've never seen before, so thanks for these videos. I think the days when I aspired to collect games like this myself are well over now though - the prices are just too crazy now.
Nice! Thank you for making this! I've not heard of any of those titles! Keep them coming!
Great selection Pete, was fun watching you stream them, even if the Jack and the beanstalk game was frustrating!
Thank you for the new video Pete!

Imported Japanese video games are so unique in a way.
Great video Pete! Definitely going to be on the look out for a few of these over the next few weeks. Especially Odo Odo oddity and kaze no notam. Ten made jack though....I can't handle that music! 😂
Please add gameplay videos in future videos it helps a lot

Same
2024 and I still keep finding new brilliant games to my PS1 collection! And I’ve been playing PS1 since 1996!
Honestly I seen some of your vids and I always appreciate hidden gems and obscure stuff to add to my collection. But having to open another window to see the gameplay was annoying. Nekketsu oyako also hit Saturn. I used to have it.
Thanks for taking the time to do this Pete. Great video!
More imports please! Got into import PS1 games back in May, there's so many great looking games its hard to pick and choose
Great stuff.
More videos Pete!
Great games. Great video. Thanks.

Having the gameplay is a really nice touch. Looking forward to more.
This is great! Hopefully you continue this into a series, maybe with PS2 as well. Really appreciate the great video and the inclusion of gameplay footage.
I'm a simple man. I see a Pete Dorr video, I hit like.
more of these videos please, been watching for years and imports im very fresh on. some cool looking titles here. thanks for taking the time and making content.
