Hey man, I know I’m late to the party, but I did something very similar. When I opened up the exhaust I pulled out all the insulation. And it sounds so much better. I riveted the old endcap on but put a extra one and a quarter inch hole under the original hole. I sanded it touch it up with some spray paint looks beautiful sounds great.
Owned a lot of KTM's and never seen any other manufacturer use horse hair in their mufflers. Funny. Nice vid. Wish one aftermarket silencer came with spark arrestor.
I was told by the manufacturer of the fuel x lite that it only works down low and does nothing to mid range or top end rev ranges. They told me if you want to run a richer setting in the mid to high rev range you need to run a piggy back ecu like their powertronic full ecu. They said the fuel x lite only works at low revs.
Not true at all. Before I had the fuel x lite installed the motor would buck and chug at freeway speeds and high rpm due to factory lean settings.... It does not do that anymore so it makes no sense. Unless you talked to the guy who created this device you will get a lot of misinformation on it.
@@SeanFillner correct. There is a lot of miss information on it out there. That’s why I asked the manufacturer for clarification and that was there response. Just passing it on.
@@SeanFillner I hope your right mate as it has made me think twice about buying it for now. I’d love to see a video if you have the time to make it. Thanks for the reply.
Is the bike De-Catted? I just bought my 390 and it has a Dominator full system that will wake up the dead, i want to make it a little less noisy and considered putting the stock can back on it.
Do you think that the exhaust swap you did on the svartpilen with the 2019 pipe through the frame would work on the 390 adventure? Looking at more ground clearance. Seems like you are the perfect person to ask since you own both bike's and have already done the swap on the Husky. Thanks
@@SeanFillner Many people here in India uses the BS4 (older emission standard) duke 390 end can to the Adv. Reason being it has more open flow. But I like the look of the stock 390 end can. Wish I could get the end cap here in India. Also have you thought about getting rid of the huge resonator for some weight savings? Here we have Red Rooster exhaust which has a slimmer resonator or no resonator almost.
Curious why you didn't give the best duel sport bike fuel programmer along with the 48 tooth rear sprocket he sells. I have both installed better low end and powers up nicely at higher rpms
Because a fuel x lite will auto tune for all future mods and a 14 tooth front sprocket is equal to a 48 tooth rear sprocket minus all of the unnecessary labor...
My new end cap is the stock end cap. Take it off cut the restriction off and put it back on. Job done.
Cost $00.00
I did the same thing on my rc390. Super easy and quick. Good job!
Any noticable difference in sound doing this? Looking after some deeper tones.
@@xveum yes.

I bet it sounds raspy with that mod. I am glad you like it!
Aha! This is different than mine but an equal hassle to install as mine! But worth it. Mine was all one piece.....

Fiberglass muffler packing is what I assume you are talking about? Seems pretty common to me.
@@SeanFillner Nope Horse hair and it's in every KTM silencer I've pulled apart. 890/500/300/250.

Hi David! Check out the playlist I created for this build series. I think you will find the answers you are looking for. Thanks for tuning in!
Hello. Excellent video.
Have you noticed any increase or decrease in fuel consumption after this modification?
Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Not much
Thanks.
Do you believe that if you additionally eliminate the resonator it would also increase the exhaust sound too much?
@@PedroMurilloChaves it would be annoying.
Thanks. Nice videos! Are you planning to change your wheels to spoke?
Absolutely not.

You can run the old style 390 exhaust on any of the 2022 390 bikes.
Thanks

Do you know anything about the best duel sport ecu programmer compared to the fuelx lite?
Fuel x lite auto tunes. Other products do not.

What kind of drill bits did you use?
Milwaukee
All that trouble removing the old one is not worth the time... I'll buy something.
You won't find anything quality that looks like oem for less than this costs. It is worth every penny.
