    Bullet Solano -- I have watched several of your videos and they have helped me when servicing my wifes' 2002 Honda Accord LX 2.3L. I truly appreciate all the time that you take explaining the procedure if not I would have not even attempted the task. I have replaced the transmission, front, and driver side motor mounts; cleaned the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and PCV valve. For the valves I used WD-40 to free the deposits and then brake cleaner to get any additional oils off. My next tasks include the air intake manifold and while I am at it changing the motor mount near the fire wall; replace the distributer seals/ O-rings, cap and rotor; and then the front struts and check the breaks. Is there anything else you might recommend me to service or replace when I am changing the last motor mount or other items?
    With much respect, Mark

      Thanks Mark, the last thing you have to do is the EGR Valve and the EGR passage, and is good time to replace the spark plugs and cables if you still have not replaced it

    I am here again, I have seen this video many times it has helped me a lot, today I was able to disassemble the entire intake manifold, because the bolt of the iac broke, but thank God I myself was able to take out the other part that was inside, and for tomorrow I will buy a clean carburetor to degrease all the intake and the iac.
    And I learned all this thanks to all the Videos of this Mr. Solano, all his videos of Honda Accord 2.3 have helped me to do some things to my car myself since the mechanics here in my country want to charge other money for small things

    Hey man. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I had a vtec solenoid oil leak and started looking for repair videos. I found yours and followed it and replacing the gaskets fixed the leak(the 3 solenoid to block bolts were a pain to remove lol). Then I kept following your videos on the egr and intake. Your videos have been really helpful for anyone with a gen 6 Accord with an F23A engine. Thank you and keep the videos coming!

      The job went great, thanks for the demo, but man, the torque on those bolts and nuts was unbelievable, I used the 1/2" drive and some elbow grease. Good thing I finally did this procedure, I caught a leak in one of the many vacuum lines, easy swap out.

    Clogged or stuck open egr valve /egr passages can also show a P1399 code . Just serviced mine and wow what a difference ,also clogged egr can make intake temp reach 300 degrees . Easy cleaning with a nylon wire brush and vacuum just try to keep the carbon from entering the engine very simple

    Hey dude! I bought some new parts (EGR, IAC, PCV, and MAP), and this time made sure I put it all together correctly. It's running great! Much better than before I started.
    Except for one thing. From yesterday to this morning, when I put the car in Drive and hold it still with the brake, sometimes the RPMs slow down to like 500 or lower. And this morning, I turned the heater on and selected defroster mode while in Park, and the car felt like it wanted to stall. I had to push the accelerator to keep the RPMs up, and after a few seconds I was able to let go.

    • @BulletSolano
      @BulletSolano  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok that’s good, question did you disconnect the battery before you started working on it? Because if you disconnect the battery the car take few days to go back to normal rpm

    I didnt have a check engine light but i did this anyway because it looked like it would be easy to do and that it would help my car run better. Not only that but this video seemed to explain everything every well and gave me a lot of confidence that I could do this, even though i have never done something like this. I followed all the instructions taking about 5 hours to do so only to find out that when i started the car my idle would rapidly go from 1000 rpms to 3000 rprms and back down when in park without me touching the gas. This is because i had sprayed a lot of cleaner insided of the throttle body (like he shows in his video) and the cleaner ran into my both my idle air control valve and my map sensor destroying both of them. I ended up taking my car to my local auto shop because i dont trust myself to fix either of these problems and even if i did i have zero confidence that i could. In all doing so has cost me 700 dollars and the worst thing about it all is that i didnt even need to do this job i just did it because bullet made it seem so easy in his video and did not address what could wrong. It is hard for me to trust anymore of these videos after what happened with my car. If you are like me and have little to no experience doing this on cars DO NOT DO IT.

    • @BulletSolano

      Pacman your idle air control valve is bad maybe is a leak or the valve needs to be replace

    • @pacman9047

      I finally figured out the darn problem after checking the fuel pressure and changing the injectors. It turned out to be a bad EGR valve that failed after 3 weeks. No more parts from ebay. Thumbs up on your video and thanks for the replies.

  • @Ottonic6
    @Ottonic6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Bullet, Since you have to go through all the work to take the manifold cover off, why not remove the EGR Valve and clean the whole passage going to it. I mean, if you clean the start of the passage in the corner of the intake cover you might as well do the whole thing and get it over with... I would hate to get it all back together just to have to take it apart again to clean that passage... Love your videos man, I think this is the 4th one I've watched today... Thanks!

    • @BulletSolano
      @BulletSolano  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dano and the reason I didn’t cleaned is because I cleaned few months before that video that’s why and I notice that the passage was clean I just make the video that day because I didn’t see any other video on TH-cam about it but this Saturday I’m working in a 2002 accord with the same problem P0401 and the car is in my house already I have to start working on it Thursday so maybe I make a video about it

    Thank you so much for these videos as they have helped me a lot working on my daughter's Honda. I have a question for you about where one of the hoses go - the smaller hose that attaches on the back of the plenum (not the one you showed removing after rotating the plenum). I can't find where the other end goes - after attaching one end to the plenum I don't see where to attach the other end in part because it seems to go somewhere behind the engine.

    • @BulletSolano

    To get those Idle Air Control back hoses, I found it easier to put the car on jack stands and access them from under the car. There is a clear line of sight to them from under neath and I can reach them easily with one hand reaching up to them. Also, if just removing the IAC, I found it much easier to leave the hoses on the IAC and remove them from their other attachment points, removing the hoses with the IAC, installation is in the reverse, with the hoses already attached to the IAC.

    thanks for the video. in order to do a good clean up service on the egr passages subsystem, and eventually on its system, as i always use, is throthe body cleaner in the sensors' area. q-tips play an important part there to dont scratch the walls adjacent to the butterfly component. after certain mileage, the distance between the inner tb intake and the buterfly metal structure increases - and adjustments are necessary - as well as the wearing out of pivoting points. there you might find teflon used by manufacturers for many reasons but the 2 most important are: 1. teflon will provide better sealeage and sliding area, 2. after many miles, depending on use too, teflon wear out - and it will create a vacuum leak hard to detect. also, overtime, it will create a misfiring condition. in any case, carb cleaner will clean out the teflon and eventually it will cause internal demage of many systems and subsystems as such. carb cleaner is usually used on old fashioned carburated systems. on newer and more superdelicate fuel injection systems you must be cautious of certain unknown procedures that will create unnecessary conditions and eventually time/ economic/ productivity loss and avoidable expenditures. for instance, carb cleaner will clean out the teflon used on the butterfly pivoting points. that is why manufacturers recomend the use of tb cleaner that doesnt have the harmful and avoidable effects of carb or brake cleaner. also, after servicing the tb with tb cleaner it will be a good idea to lube the pivoting points with just a drop of atf/ oil on a q-tip. on modern times, metal gaskets that in its majority seal intake and exhaust systems are reusable - making sure that the contact and the adjacent (mostly aluminum) parts are flat and not rounded. you could always use a file to calibrate for proper fit up. aluminum, for exp., contracts and expands with heat/ weather and other conditions. then, the old school shellack method will make sure the sealing of the gasket compliments the rest of the operation with elastic motion. dont worry about it if some sensors will detect strange fumes at the beginning. after a while, when the shellack dries out they will get used to it and you'll be done without any incidents, with its process. just one piece of advice, on tps wireless systems dont ever try to disconnect a tb, or play with a tb system, unless you know for sure that is part of the fault's procedure you are trying to correct because you will need to reprogramate or at least flash out your ecu/ pcm. its important to look for any service bulletins regarding any service procedure before you start doing a svc procedure because during the svc of fuel injected systems unintentional demage of delicate components could always happen. proper guidance will get you out of the hole even before you get there. this is only an idea

    • @BulletSolano
      @BulletSolano  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the advice and yes a prefer not to mess with the throttle body, and to clean everything with care because is some cases if you use throttle body cleaner inside the idle air control valve is gonna get damage other then that thanks

    Very good video man, thanks for sharing. I have a question for the same engine 2001 accord 2.3L they´re changing all the gaskets and seals on the engine so they took out the whole engine, this afternoon I went to the shop and found out that the throttle body does not have that little hose that shows in your video, the only hose you didn't disconnect it seems that it flows back from the throttle to the intake. Apparently its been running like that for more than 10 year, I´m surprissed it has never given any issues. ¿what is that hose for, what´s its function? it seems it just recirculates air from the throttle body to the sensor and the intake.

When I first turn on the car the Idle goes all the way up to 2,000 and then slowly drops to 1,200 but when I´m traveling at low speed even without pressing the gas pedal the idle goes to 1,600. ¿can this be because they cleaned the EGR and the V-Tec solenoid passages?

    • @BulletSolano

At 13:45 in the video if that passageway is all filled with carbon, don't you have to get that material out somehow or did you just spray cleaner down there? I've seen other videos where they state there's a "flex drill" that you use to get through the carboned-up passage. Comments?

      Hey dude, I've got everything put back together. Hoses, bolts, etc. I opened the bleeder valve for the coolant as shown on your IACV video, but no coolant came out. It's already full in the bottle and the radiator. I started the car, and it ran with the RPMs pulsing around 650-750. When I tried to press the accelerator a little bit while in park, revved up to 1200 RPM and then back down to something low like 300 RPM and up and down. I read some other instructions for bleeding involving opening the radiator cap and letting the car run until the fan kicks in to bleed it through the radiator cap but that didn't seem to help either. If I push the accelerator even further then it eventually stalls the engine. Thoughts?
