DEMOLITION | Damaged Wind Turbine

- After a new 117-meter tall wind turbine was damaged by a thermal event even before it was commissioned for operation, the wind farm owner looked for a safe and expeditious means to fell the damaged unit without compromising the ability to reuse the foundation for a replacement unit. CDI designed preparation of the unit to permit its client, North Coast Enterprise, to pre-salvage the Down Tower Assembly (DTA) before CDI’s felling of the unit into that area which minimized disruption of wind farm and agricultural assets at the site.
Total preparation time was less than 24-working-hours.
The unit was felled by CDI on May 22, 2023, and debris from the unit was cleaned up and removed by North Coast and their site contractor by May 31, 2023.
There was no damage to the foundation. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
Stunning videography. As always, no one does implosions better.
Thank you very much!
I've always loved your videos but adding a drone takes it to another level
Thanks for watching!
This channel blows me away ! 😮
Cool ! 😊👍. Thanks ! ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Call it what really happened - a fire. One doesn’t roast marshmallows over a thermal event 😅 Great job folks!
This. "Thermal event", umm, more like it burned the @#$% up!
😊😊😮😄😄😄😄😁Feilpe🙎♂️🙎♂️🙎♂️😳😳😳😄😄😁😲😲😳😳😓😭😓😓😓😓😓😭💔💔🔥🔥🔥🔥
Roasting marshmallows requires a "pre-planned thermal event." 🤣
Thanks CDI. Great job as always!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Excellent photography and implosion 🥇
Thanks for watching!
beautiful job and a masterful job taking it down!!!
Thank you very much!
Nice
Thanks for watching!
Perfect, as usual for CDI
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Always fantastic!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
1:38 Fire in the hole!
I can hear metal cable snaps.
1:46 TIIIIIIMMMBEEEEEEEEERRR!!!
Thank you so much for watching!
That was amazing. I know this one caught on fire before it's service life started so it had to be brought down. My question is what is the normal service life of a wind turbine?
If I remember well it's around 15 years
Pretty sure the blades have to be replaced less than every ten years due to damage they sustain… the edges chip easily …its reinforced fiberglass
That is a crying thing to have a wind turbine fail and then they have to be took down because of the damage they have 😮
🤯 Read the description!
Beautiful video, fantastic effort bringing it down on target! Can't get much better than this! 😎✌️
Glad you enjoyed it!
It fall down go boom!
Thanks for watching!
The music was much better this time.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Great demo job and video. Tons of composite plastics off to the dump after only a few years of service. Natural gas plants have a much better environmental and financial profile over the full life cycle.
Thanks for watching!
Recycling fiber glass is not done. Land fill
Until your natural gas plant explodes cause of a leak or someone using open flame. There’s risk and rewards to all forms of energy including renewable. There’s no reason we can’t use all different kinds
Love to see a windmill fall👍👍
Are you going to put out a video of the Cheswick PA power plant stack implosion??? Not far from my home.
"Thermal event" is a phrase like "hot renovation" 😅
Thanks CDI! The soundbite in the intro, is that an interview with Mr. Loizeaux? That'd be pretty interesting to see if you can upload it!
The sound bite during the intro is an interview with CDI founder, Jack Loizeaux.
What caused the severe fire damage ?
I love seeing those drop. Wish they would drop all of them.
Wow
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Did it catch fire ie: overheat
How tall
Curious as to why they wouldn’t be able to reuse things like the blades for another turbine and choose to break it all
Land fill like all fiber glass
I want a T-shirt!
I think it was Nordex Delta N131
Wind turbine fire
Got kind of close to that white structure. Look at some kind of tool shed or maybe auxiliary unit.
Or no and just how good you are you probably planned it.
Thanks for watching!
10 year’s service, then junk? What a waste. These are all payed for by taxpayers.
What an eyesore and a complete, environmental disaster .
Not going to get political but.... taxpayer subsidies literally burnt the hole in the budget here ........And off to the landfill
May i suggest that you edit it like a football game......the music stops when the offense comes to the line and the ACTION is about to start.
Well, I bet THAT one isnt gonna get us closer to net ZERO…
Not like there isn’t fire at coal plants and explosions at natural gas plants.
Bottom line. Turbines don't make profit for utility companies.
Get a 4k drone next time.
@@kolbyrubeling Maybe it is just youtube Australia but you only come thru in 1080p
Such a beautiful landscape, marred by all those useless, inefficient and bloody expensive wind turbines.
Wind is not guaranteed 24/7, and it has to be the right type of wind. Too little, and they don't work. Too much, and they have to be locked down and feathered, so they don't work. And to do that they need electricity from the fossil fuelled grid.
Solar only works during daylight hours, even if it's cloudy. Bearing in mind the North and South Poles only get sunshine for about 5 months a year each, so Solar is a total waste of time.
The one thing that is guaranteed is tidal flow, which happens all around the world. You can almost set you're watch by the tides, they're that regular. The only time you get energy reduction is during slack water, and that doesn't last long.
Wave and Tidal energy production is the way to go.
Well done as always and the drone footage is amazing, but we could really do without the music. Sorry. It’s just really distracting and doesn’t add to the experience at all.
Thanks for the feedback Josh!
The music is okay, but how about playing some Ren and Stimpy music! SAMPLE: th-cam.com/video/rhinKuP5Eiw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nDxlVdIvgWW1Jh4z

That’s what happens when you build from Chinese components!
Needs to happen to ALL wind turbines (fart farms)
My sentiments exactly get rid of them all
It is interesting to note that these propaganda machines are not worth repairing after they are damaged. Another well executed blowdown of these eyesores. Keep it up.
Interesting to note that coal and natural gas have explosions and fires as well.
We’re talking about turbines and untapped energy. Regardless of the method of how electricity is produced, there’s always going to be a risk of fire and explosions.
Coal plants can start on fire. Natural gas plants leak and explode. Wind turbines can catch fire. Hydro turbines can get flooded and short out. Solar panels can get too hot and short out.
Not fair to chalk wind energy up to “propaganda” and “eyesores” when they have just as many risks as any other form of energy.
@reubensvlogchannel8565 That is your opinion. They are eye sores in mine. Where I live, i have seen 2 or 3 year old units that have been damaged by whatever means taken down and not replaced. If the energy they produced was of value, they would have been replaced in a reasonable time frame.
Wish we could do that to all of them.
The music doesn't really help these. We know why we're watching your video.
Appreciate the feedback!
